...that Oasis could make it big in America again? I mean, they were pretty popular back in the mid-90s, but now they're a "cult" band, not really mainstream popular.
Personally, I think they could go all the way. Judging by America's music market there's room for, Pop-Punk/Emo bands, rap, Indie, and soft UK bands. I dunno how Coldplay got so popular here. One minute, you're watching some generic pop-punk song, and the next your listening to Coldplay, which is quite different. Not to say Indie bands aren't getting airtime. The White Stripes seemed to be doing well with Blue Orchird. Both bands, like Oasis, scored hits in the past. I bet, if Oasis released Lyla, which was around the same time as Speed of Sound and Blue Orchird(Spring)I think it would've been really popular.
Oasis can recover from Be Here Now. It's a new generation, and a new approach to Rock. It's obvious America doesn't like Britian's newest big band(Arctic Monkeys), maybe some good, ole Rock n Roll can finally make it's way over the rap and indie?

I don't think popularity will make Oasis any better. I just want to see some respect for Oasis, here in America. I don't want them to be remembered as a one hit wonder. I want to see them on TV, instead of the many shit bands that there are. So people actually know who the hell I'm talking about when I say I like Oasis.

I like to see more respect for Oasis in the US too...but at the end of the day all that matters is that I love them ;D Its sad to think peeps here doesnt always have good taste in music.

A radio friendly hit single is the only way. 'Lyla' got the most radio play since 'Don't Go Away'.

They could, but they'd need to do it in a U2 kindof way. They will never be on MTV again, they are way too old. They'd need to have a huge radio smash on the modern rock stations to become huge again. It could happen... I heard DLBIA today on my local rock station.

The other bands you people mention, are bands that have nice fella's in it. Some people tend to dislike Oasis because of their attitudes towards the media. They think oasis are arrogant, or they make fun of their accents... It's just that they don't even seriously would listen to an Oasis record, because of their attitudes towards Oasis. You could see it as bad marketing from Oasis side (unconscious though, because they're real). The fans think that what they say and do is cool, mostly because they know that Oasis makes fuckin great music. I think that this would never change, even though Liam wants Oasis to be massive again, it will never be as in 1995/1996.. They are not going to kiss ass and people won't suddenly change their attitudes, that's just the way it is..

Aye, good point. I'd rather have Oasis stay at their currently popularity level than sell out like a bunch of other bands.

its a new record label next album, maybe they'll promote oasis better in the US.
i personally just want a good album. well, what i really want is one more great album and then im happy for oasis to call it a day. cos yeah, my worry is also that people will look at DM and MG and then dismiss the rest, i've said it before but one more solid album and people in the future will judge them as a whole band, not just britpop band. but to give them credit, dbtt did wonders in getting people to respect them again, at least the highest i think its been since bhn.
a great albums and the respect will follow. and if people have any intelligence, the popularity will follow too.
but the music, the music needs to be exemplar cos thats what stays around, thats why the beatles are so big even today cos even if you take away the hype of the time, they made amazing records.

There's no way.... people here either absolutely love them, or just don't pay attention.
For me to happen to see/hear something on them is pretty rare.... and here in Canada they're bigger than in the US

I know one thing, it was a strange feeling to see a group of 14-15 year old kids at the Houston show with their 35-40 year old parents. Maybe they are catching on with the younger crowd after all.
