Surely "bang average" is 5/10? 4.5/10 = Bang Average 5/10 = Average 5.5/10 = Fair 6/10 = Half Decent 6.5/10 = Decent 7/10 = Good 7.5/10 = Very Good 8/10 = Excellent 8.5/10 = Brilliant 9/10= Superb 9.5/10 = Flawless 10/10 = Michelle Keegan Stick to this mate and we shan't argue. Cheers. Brilliant is better than Superb, surely? And I disagree about One Way Road...it is a solid 7/10 song. I could accept an argument of 6.5 or 6/10 maybe due to the blandness of the verses, but certainly not any lower than that. I like how Noel sings all quiet through the verses and pre-chorus, but then really drives home the conviction of the chorus, followed by that tasteful guitar riff right after. It's a nice little song about being a wanderer, or how all feelings come and go eventually.

I don't want new NG album to sound like She must be one of us, Good Rebel, or I'd pick you every time neither. That guy wrote Live Forever i dont want to even hear It makes me wanna cry or Revolution song.I want to hear something fresh that'll let me know that he still loves music. And music is not rerecording the tunes that you wrote as b sides 10 years ago. Music is about emotions and about Being Here N@ow.

Noel himself said that the new record is just alright/nothing special. Rather trust him than his buddy.
(That also makes the wait a lot easier)

He did indeed write Live Forever, but if anything lets you know he still loves music it's the fact that he's still writing, releasing and touring after 20 years. He doesn't need to, but he does. His forthcoming album will reflect where he is now, much like his last one did, much like Definitely Maybe did. That's what an album does. If he wrote songs about being an Bulgarian turnip farmer with not a penny to his name, even though it'd be something "fresh", we'd think he'd gone mad. Today, he's content writing songs that he likes, and I'm grateful for the fact he lets us hear them.

I hope his singing is better on his next album. Yeah, he's singing in a lot higher key than he used to...even when he plays old Oasis songs. Also I'm not really fond of the weird American-ish accent he's been singing with since HFB.

Also I'm not really fond of the weird American-ish accent he's been singing with since HFB. Yeah. I just think he sounds so strained sometimes, like an unknotted balloon. This is one of my favourite vocals from him where he's just relaxed and not going for volume. I know it's about 20 years old but the technique still applies:

I really don't understand how sometimes people picture Noel as some kind of retired musician who we should be grateful to hear cause he is so fuckin' old that he can barely walk or something. How old is he 47? I'd say he is at the halfway point of his career. I think he's just about to spread the wings as a solo artist and singer and is going to suprise us yet. I'm not sayin' HFB period was bad, i love those songs too, i just think sometimes we are too careful in expectations sayin " I wish we could hear something so brilliant as If i had a gun from Noel again " . Come on, i'm waiting at least for something as classic as Importance Of Being Idle. It's Noel Gallagher, he can be writting the best song ever at this very moment, you never know.

[/quote] I'm sorry but this is BS and i will explain. He is 47 years old and he has released what, 120 songs he wrote? Compare this to McCartney who by the time he was 47 (flowers in the dirt ),he had released around 350 songs he wrote not to mention several songs he wrote for others during the sixties. Noel is annoyingly lazy but then again, almost everybody is at this era of songwriters of his fame. Also he is annoyingly safe check this out,it is the 71 year old McCartney and his latest single. Noel would never have the balls to release something like that now,let alone when he is 70.

I'm not trying to make him sound like a decrepit old bloke, lucky to be alive let alone writing songs. I said he has no immediate need to release more music. And given how legendarily lazy Noel is, why on earth shouldn't we be grateful for more?

I get what you are saying but you can't compare Noel with a Beatles. I would prefer quality of quantity, a lot of Paul's songs leading up to Flowers in the Dirt had been shit. I don't think any 60's musicians made it through the 80's with their reputation intact.

Speaking of Noel and his age. Can you imagine a 70 year old Noel complaining about the current music scene? Awesome! Haha!

As for McCartney, you and many more people critisize his solo career but i would like to ask you if you have listened to it from staryt to finish. The guy is a tune machine,in turns lightweight and rocking as little else. and one of the best choruses i have ever heard and many many more good tunes.

I am actually a Beatle freak and I love/like most of Paul's music he made in the 70's and up to Tug of War. I was trying to get across that his albums leading up to Flowers in the Dirt had been shit. I think Paul was the most consistent Beatles in the 70's. George quickly lost his ability to write great songs and John's albums were dull after Imagine. I don't think Paul ever bettered Plastic One Band and Imagine but he came close with BOTR and Venus and Mars. Also good choices with your Youtube videos. Monkberry Moon Delight and Love in Song are two of my favourite Paul songs.
