New album will be released entitled Ghost Stories from May 18th
1. Always In My Head 2. Magic 3. Ink 4. True Love 5. Midnight 6. Another Arms 7. Oceans 8. A Sky Full Of Stars 9. O
Only 9 songs but all quite long. I'm sure more info will be released. Exciting times - this has to be a major improvement on Mylo Xyloto.

New single 'Magic' I'm listening to it on repeat and it's just brilliant. It's fresh and catchy and a bit poppy, but not poppy like MX... poppy in a very, very good way.

Magic is a strong tune, really like the Bass in that song!

Well Alright Alright Alright. Album sooner than any of us expected. I still like "Midnight" better because its so different for Coldplay.

When I heard the first beat it reminded of that left field u2 single Numb, this song is good, but I would have liked something more left field or atleast something more attention grabbing from them. Nice song better than the last album already.

I really hope that the relative lack of tracks is offset by their quality.
You never really know with Coldplay. It's been hit and miss since Viva La Vida era, Mylo Xyloto was odd but nevertheless there was a handful of good songs between them.
This looks like another conceptual album, I can only hope that there's one or two good songs.

Its funny that all I've ever wished of Coldplay is two or three good songs on an album, there's just never that knockout LP - and with only 9 tracks it'll be much more of a task.

Its funny that all I've ever wished of Coldplay is two or three good songs on an album, there's just never that knockout LP - and with only 9 tracks it'll be much more of a task. I can definitely see your point scott1. For me, they have never issued that great album - I think there is albums that are brilliant like the first two but not an album that would hit you for six. That's no criticism, as there's very rarely any band that can do that for me. But I think they have issued three 'brilliant' albums - the first two and Viva La Vida (this one seems to polarise opinion). Understatement works best for Coldplay, and their euphoric tunes have never hit the sweet spot in the way that, say, Oasis do, so these first two tunes I've heard are right up my street. I expected Magic to be a bit safer and more radio friendly as the lead single compared to Midnight, and sure enough it is. It's still a fantastic little tune though, and the overproduction of Viva La Vida (major criticism I have of that album with quite a few of the tunes) and Mylo Xyloto is absent thank goodness. Again, just like Midnight I was thankful when no over the top melodramatic chorus came in. These new tunes seem like the first clear cut and well recorded Coldplay tunes in over a decade. The production is excellent and Chris Martin's voice comes through clearly For me, it's a pleasant surprise. I had lost hope for Coldplay with the last album, so out of the blue they come with this. I'm thinking U2 will be disheartened when they hear this.

"Magic"
Call it magic Call it true Call it magic When I'm with you And I just got broken Broken into two Still I call it magic When I'm next to you
And I don't, And I don't And I don't, And I don't Know, I don't, it's true I don't know, I don't know I don't know, I don't When anybody ask but you I don't know, I don't know I don't know, I don't Know, I don't, it's true I don't know, I don't know I don't know, I don't When anybody ask but you
Ooooh ooh ooh

Hopefully this will be an improvement from their last album. Viva La Vida was good but I find the band have become distracted by trying to reinvent themselves. They should just be Coldplay as opposed to focusing on what stage attire to wear.

They sound like a band that have gone back to making music they want to make, not what other people want them to make. That self conscious effort to appeal to the mainstream didn't work on Mylo Xyloto, but these two tunes are fantastic.
It's great to have MY Coldplay back!
P.S. I wonder if Noel will inadvertently make his way on to this album. A close insider to the band said some riffs and effects pedal was taken back to their recording studio in 2012 when Coldplay and Noel rehearsed together for the Brit Awards that year

Coldplay killed it at their first show back at the SXSW Festival, new songs sound great live! Can't wait for this era of Coldplay; a band that knows how big they are, but are seeming to scale back in size.

New songs: This one could be Noel's riff So far, the album seems like a return to Rush of Blood / X & Y style with a bit of subdued electronic production. It's sounding pretty great IMO
