why do people hate this song so much??
I love it, it's one of my favourite Oasis tunes.
It has: great lyrics great guitar solo amazing drumming, esp at the end noel sings with it so much passion catchy as fuck fuckin mega live
why is it so disliked by many people? its quality, another one of noel's masterpieces...def deserves a place on the greatest hits collection when they do that.

I didn't think it was disliked.
I think it's great.
So is HC.

I don't dislike this song. Like live4evr said, it's quality, but I'm not mad for it (especially live version). For me "The Masterplan" (I mean the song) is one of Noel's masterpieces, probably the best one.

Have to disagree with that, the opening line makes my toes curl every time I hear it.

I used to love it. Then I hated it.
I just like it now. I feel something's missing...but that's with all of HC anyway.

Great songs, but the lyrics are garbage. As Noel said at Glasto in 2004, "This next one's my 2 year old daughter's favorite song. So if you consider the lyrical content of this song, I think you'll agree I've got my fuckin' work cut out for me."

It isn't a bad track, but it doesn't really blow your bollocks off. 7/10 for me.

I think any song that starts out "We the people fight for our existence" can't be that good.

i like little by little.
and i like the lyrics because its the only time noels ever said something vaguley abstract and posibly meaningful. "true perfection has to be imperfect" one of the few truths i am sure of. and its just seems more honest that the lyrics to hindu times which just seem contrived to me, as if noels trying to be what he was...but this is that introspective side that he's not 'meant' to be cos oh, he's a gallagher and gallagher's like to drink, shag and smoke cigarettes - even though there is much more to both of them.

i agree with Lyla....finally someone who sees the failed attempt of trying to be who they once were through Hindu Times. lol, but little by little is a good one eventhough the lyrics aren't the best, they don't seem fake or anything.
- cheers !

I adore the guitar in this song - so classic Oasis. I really like the lyrics, although some are quite cheesy.
But I think he does sing it with so much passion, and it's a favourite. The 'why am I really here?' is awesome. A really moving song. But I don't think it comes out that well live - tends to sound a bit flat to me. Although Noel is so hot in the Finsbury Park video. Oh yeah....
Who is it about? This may be obvious and I'm missing it. I like to think it's about Peggy: "we gave you everything you ever dreamed of"..... Has Noel said anything about the lyrics?

a great song this an even better live the production aint magic on it but the song is just class an alot of non oasis fans state this a sthere favourite, plus when noel said its his 2 year old daughters favourite song and that cosidering the lyrical content hes got his work cut out i always thought he menat cos the lyrics are quite complex and are quite hard to understand for a 2 year old so if she does get it then hes got a task on his hands.just a thought mind ya

Who is it about? This may be obvious and I'm missing it. I like to think it's about Peggy: "we gave you everything you ever dreamed of"..... Has Noel said anything about the lyrics? Is tempting to think it's about Meg Matthews, his ex-wife (though Noel has at times denied that it is, this one and Force of Nature, which if you ask me is BLATANTLY about her). Especially when sometimes live he sings "I gave you everything you ever dreamed of", as opposed to "WE gave you".
