I’d like to see Taylor do a song for song cover of As You Were.

Just gave it a proper listen. I like it enough, much better than the obvious throw away You Need to Calm Down. I was begging for Archer to explode, and it’s clearly deliberate in not doing so which inturn keeps the sexy, smoky feel to it. Some of the lyrics are pretty heavy actually. Clearly a track to whet the appetite. Well I’ve liked what I have just consumed....

Lover is a nice little tune. It’s too Ed Sheeran for me. I know she has much better in her locker.

I think the album will be a mixed bag, to be honest, with the personal songs being good and the bits where she's talking about literally anything else being fucking horrendous.

Very disappointing album. She needs to ditch her army of songwriters and get cheated on a few more times.

Okay, this is trash. You're nearly thirty years old, stop making songs that are like a thirteen year old girl's idea of what relationships feel like. I mean, London Boy might genuinely be the cringiest song I've heard from anyone in years. It's skin-crawling. I thought The Archer and Lover were hinting at a more mature direction direction, but no, just the same childish cringe as usual, but without the catchiness. "Miss Americana" is the only track I'd go back to. I like the album, but you’re right about Americana - top track.

Oh what a jam Cornelia Street is!
Also big fan of Archer, Miss Americana, Soon You'll Get Better and It's Nice To Have A Friend.

Pop artists are artists too, just as much as men with beards and guitars. Now, Taylor happens to be a trash one right now, but that doesn't mean her albums aren't there to be listened to and talked about just as much as anyone else's. I've found a conscious unwillingness to enjoy and talk about pop shows more immaturity than the opposite, to be honest; so many neckbeards in Pink Floyd t-shirts scared to tap their toes to the Billie Eilish songs they secretly like.

The great irony is that this current musical landscape has never before been so woke with pop music. About 15-17 years ago the dynamic changed. On radio, magazines and websites, they all shifted from rockism to poptimism. Even pitchfork which built its reputation on college indie rock albums hardly covers that genre anymore. They are just as likely to cover rap, or pop or whatever else is in the charts. I use pitchfork as an example because I've been reading it since I was 17, age 38 now, so I can see the huge cultural shift. They also don't give bad reviews anymore out of fear and backlash. That might owe more to owns the website these days.

One of my favourite things about being part of the streaming generation is that that kind of musical tribalism ("You're seriously listening to a pop album?!") doesn't really exist amongst us. Rock, rap, indie, pop, dance, metal, it's all on everyone's playlists. My dad argues that makes the music scene less exciting as there's not people dressed as goths or rockers all hanging out together, but I think I prefer it without the cliques. We're all gonna be dead in 100 years, let the kids have the music

She is not an artist, you only know about Taylor because someone decided that she will be the one to sell records to 13 years old teenage girls. So, you can't really expect from here to stop singing songs like that when those songs are the only reason she exist as a public figure. I am not ashamed to say that I enjoy some of her songs, she has some great drunk karaoke songs, I can sing in front of hundreds of people songs like Shake It Off. I like pop music, I like those cheesy big pop hits, I enjoy listening and even singing songs like that when I am cooking or something... But to put my headphones and seriously analize Taylor Swift's album and even complain that she didn't make any progress in her music? I mean, come on...

I'll be honest with you, mate, I just listened to the Taylor Swift album and came to the Taylor Swift thread to post my thoughts on the Taylor Swift album. I don't see what's annoyed you about that, or what compelled you to come to this thread in the first place. Also, it might surprise you to know that there are thousands, indeed millions, of people who do sit down with pop albums like this and take them seriously - the song structures, the lyrical themes, the production, everything, just as much as this forum does with Liam Gallagher songs. How many people would say "Oh, Liam Gallagher, I can enjoy the odd Oasis song at a kareoke, but to actually sit down and listen to his solo records and take them seriously?". Pop music fans aren't just 13-year-old girls dancing with their hair-brushes in a pink bedroom or something, you know, millions of adult music fans love pop too, just like you presumably love guitar music. Chill.

I thought this was troll thread but ok. Whatever makes you happy... Troll thread? Look at the number of pages it has. Look at the amount of views it has gotten. One of the biggest non Oasis thread topics in the forums history. Deep down we all care about her. Or want to stare at her legs.......i mean photos!

“I promise that you’ll never find another like me” is the perfect slogan for this snowflake generation. Was that conscious, Taylor?

Album isn't growing on me. I think it's worse than a Republican. I was just skimming and first read that as above. I was like, wow that’s out of order (despite its accuracy). I fucking love the album.
