I like The Police, yaeh Sting is a vagina, but The Police is great, like how they used to play this mix of rock and reggae(dunno if they created this sound), and it made then unique in a way ever since.
I like Rush too, 2112, Signals, Grace Under Preassure and of course Moving Pictures are all amazing albums.

queen - detest them, hated his voice, keyboard shit drabby sounding music. muse - hate his voice, great guitar player, if they made instumentals they'd be okay. coldplay - hate his issing in his voice & all the depressing tunes they come up with, he's a bono wannabe kings of leon - people slag off liam's singing, fucking hell it don't get worser than his. lady ga ga - she's in the wrong profession, I think she inspires more lesbians than anything else. pink Floyd - complete shit, hate the complete sound of their music. red hot chilli peppers - also his singing, bass player is good that's about it. guns n roses - screechy fucked up voice, complete shit. Michael buble - he thinks he's Sinatra & that all women love him, I guarantee backstage he's a foul mouthed fucker, I hate people who try to come across as perfect, rubbish. take that - no matter what radio, music channel, if there's a charity like children in need, them wankers are everywhere, gary barlow looks more like a tramop than a tramp, sruffy bastard, hate em. Robbie Williams - can't stand the bastard, nothing to do with the Robbie-liam thing, anything liam does, he gets branded arrogant, Robbie is a big headed bastard people it always gets over looked, he's a prick & candy is bollocks, all the under 10 year olds listen to that shit.
Under rated
cast - they made some amazing albums & great b-sides, the success kings of leon had when they came out is what cast deserved to have had, same as the stone roses, them 2 bands deserved to have sold least 30-40 million between them.
ocean colour scene - love em, all their albums are great, the first not as much, seen them live once & they know there stuff, professionals, great band.
R.E.M. - after 1994 people faded of em when they made some real amazing music.
lastly ...
elvis - he made more good tunes that what most of ya's have probably ever heard, legend.

So many over-rated bands I could be here all day but ill name a few I think fit the bill.
Foo Fighters, Mumford and Sons, Greenday, Nirvana, RHCP, Pearl Jam, AC/DC.....I've just never understood any of the adulation these particular bands receive.
As for under-rated bands, a few of my favourite bands are in there. Bands like The Music, Travis, Soundtrack of our Lives, Delays, Idlewild, Interpol and BRMC. I also have a soft spot for Proud Mary. They really didn't take off at all did they? Poor fuckers. First album is decent.

Overrated... Green Day. I mean, they're good, they have some funny and happy songs that are great, but... cmon. Apart from 21st Century Breakdown, that is very very good and American Idiot, the band is like nothing and I have friends in Brazil that treat Billie Joe like God. Blur. I've listened to their entire discography and if there's anybody in the world that thinks it's better than Oasis... I like Gorillaz, they're good, but Damons voice on Blur albums is annoying. Muse. Wait, they're great. They have some fantastic songs, a fantastic singer/guitarist, a good bassist and a good drummer. But a the fuss about them? Headlining Rock In Rio? Cmon. And the filler tracks on their cds are pretty terrible. It's one of the bands that I'm not sure if it deserves to be there but at the moment let's put it in. Nirvana. Seriously. Again, I love some of their songs, I really like Kurts voice, but... they're not THAT great. Red Hot Chili Peppers. Very good, some great songs and some hits, but a very fragile discography to me. John Frusciante's and Flea are great, love them. Franz Ferdinand. I hate the voice of Kapranos, I hate this band a lot. The Strokes. Fuck them. --- Underrated Nick Drake. This guy was The Man. Listen to Pink Moon. Fucking perfect. Yuck. I know, very recent band, but they are just fantastic in my opinion. Check them and they new album! The Civil Wars. Never seen anyone here talking about them, they are absolutely amazing. The harmonies are beautiful. Check them too! Oasis. Well, here in Brazil people seem to hate them a lot. I've shown the band for a friend and he tell me to listen to Avenged sevenfold. Haha. Jeff Buckley - check the 'Grace' album. Jeff is probably the most soulful man that have ever existed on earth. --- I'm done here. Just like to add a comment: oh, people Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd, U2, Radiohead overrated? Come on...

Overrated: - Blur. Their music is just too boring and predictable, nothing new, nothing unique, just repetitive pop shite. Their third album is actually alright, maybe a 5/10 but other than maybe Song 2, they are nothing special. Definitely should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Oasis either, the two bands are nothing alike. - The Jam. I have nothing against them nor musically nor personally but seriously, one of the greatest bands of all time? Nahhhhhhh - U2. Never liked them, never will. Probably the most overrated band of time. (In my opinion) Underrated: - The Stone Roses. They could have been bigger than The Beatles. They had the potential, the songs, the personality, everything. It's a terrible shame what happened to them but I guess thats the music business for you. - Oasis. Why they aren't considered legendary is beyond me. The greatest band of all time for me, followed by The Stone Roses and then The Beatles. Fucking hell, did I really write that about Blur? There probably one of my favourite bands of all time now (okay well maybe top 10) as it happens, I can't believe I would write this about them.

Overrated: AC/DC (It's typical 80's shit to me, songs are extremely same-y) U2 KISS (Fuck Gene Simmons)
Underrated: Oasis (at least in the US) Weezer The Stone Roses

Overrated: AC/DC (It's typical 80's shit to me, songs are extremely same-y) The funny thing is that I exclusively listen to AC/DC from before the 80s. I kinda agree with you that they are "samey", but they were even before then, that's the whole point. Take a listen to the Let There Be Rock album, especially Bad Boy Boogie or Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be and then tell me it's not rocking concisely to the point where it can't get any more, well, concisely. I never cared for anything they did with Brian Johnson, I can't stand his screaming voice opposed to the specialness that Bon Scott gave them. It's easy to dislike them, especially nowadays but I think if you honestly like earnest, down to the bones, rock music, their early output is quite earthshaking. I've seen them live two times in 2003 (with the freakin Rolling Stones as the main act) and in 2010 and I still kinda suffer from it hearingwise. Only My Bloody Valentine came close so far soundwise, they were LOUD. EDIT: I kind of agree with U2 as well, then again, Achtung Baby is one of my favourite albums ever. However, since Zooropa there has certainly been a "slight" bit of overratement.

If there's one band I can't stand for the life of me it's the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I do like BloodSugarSexMusic. Just the music, everything else about them, Kiedis' antics and especially the way they invaded my life since some people I know consider them the bible of alternative music. I reallly like Frusciante and Flea, mainly because of The Big Lebowski and Atoms For Peace, which in turn are overrated but Radiohead are - the following might offend some people - still amazing.

Kind of depends where you are, but over here Oasis are underrated too. It's a bit difficult to say about the Stone Roses, because they haven't put out that much and it wasn't consistently good.
I think a band like Coldplay is overrated, so are The Script and Imagine Dragons. In fact I think The Script are so mediocre, mediocrity in music could be measured by using The Script. Everything sounds the same.

Kings Of Leon
I liked "Molly's Chamber", but now I can't stand them.
OCS and The Courteeners are some of those bands, which can't make it outside the UK (for The Courteeners outside Manchester). Yet Steve Cradock is a great guitarist and a top guy. ALso The Charlatans are nearly unknown overhere.

Overrated:
Red Hot Chili Peppers - they have 2-3 decent/good albums but they are among one of the most annoying bands out there. Their legacy can be boiled down to a couple good singles, 1 landmark album (blood sex sugar majik, which is also overrated) and for providing inspiration to millions to middle/high school rock bands. No, Flea is not the best bass player of all time.
Aretha Franklin - one of the best singers of all time but I'm not so sure that she is the best. She certainly has the best sassy attitude and she can belt it out, but there are other singers out that they I think are a lot better.
Vampire Weekend - Enjoyed their first album. Found their second to be sloppy. They rebounded with a good third album but I just can't say that they are one of the best bands out there. Live show didn't impress me and after awhile their songs kinda just overload you with their quirkiness.
The Black Keys - its a sad day for rock n' roll when a watered down rock band like this is one of the biggest in the world. They aren't a bad band, though they have gotten worse but there's better rockers out there.
Underrated:
The Avalanches - not underrated by critics but by the masses. Their only album, Since I Left You (my avatar) is about as close as you can get to perfect album. Opened my eyes to a whole new world of music. It covers so many different moods and the craftsmanship on the album is second to none. The best electronic album of all time and one of my top five records. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Janelle Monae - She's like a lady Price. Blends so many influences together and creates something new. Her music takes you on a journey over the course of her albums. One of the few musicians/performers that I would say deserves to be a superstar
Television - one of the best bands of all time. Prefer them over Sex Pistols and the Ramones. Maybe not as revolutionary but Marquee Moon is one of the best albums of all time and not a lot of people have listen to it.
Nina Simone - This women is amazing. Mississippi Goddam is one of her era's defining songs. She has amazing control on her voice. It can rubble or it can float.
Smith Westerns - Seriously one of the best bands out there right now. Each of their three album have slightly different vibes. All of them are great. Dye It Blonde one of the best albums of the decade. Imagine Oasis melodies with T -Rex leads. Their song Varsity on their third album is one of the best songs I've heard.

Christ that sucked I think people hate Sting the same way they hate Bono. Im not a big Police fan but their GreatestHits album is perfect. This is just a perfect 3 minute reggae/punk/pop song. With maybe the most underrated drummer in rock. He's doing so many different things on this song.

Underrated Bruce Springsteen- The greatest American songwriter since Dylan. People have the image from Born in the USA and think thats what he is and that couldnt be further from the truth.
Weezer- Their first two albums are arguably the best debut/follow up albums of the 90's w/ the exception of Oasis. It's mostly down hill from there but those two albums are perfect.
Overrated Bruce Springsteen- Jesus Rollingstone magazine the man could release anything and they'd give it 5 stars. He's released two good albums since 2000 The Rising and Magic but everything else has been hit or miss
The Who- They have some great songs. Baba O Riley is fantastic but I cant get into much of anything else especially their early British invasion albums.
Jack White- I'll take 3 or 4 songs off any White Stripe or solo album and put it up against any one else's catalog. The mans written some great songs but trying to get through a complete album can be a chore.
