Just heard this for the first time. Is there some kind of back story here? Seemed like Noel started having a dig at the guy right from the start of the phonecall

Saw that film Superbad recently - utter dross. And Russell Brand isn't any better. I saw it for the first time recently also and I thought it was hilarious. But that's probably because I had no expectations of it being any good prior to watching it and I was just home from the pub. |

I saw it when it came out in the cinema. Didn't enjoy it as much the second time I saw it but loved it in the cinema. I was only 15 or so mind.

the guy way just trying to say he was a big fan and noel keeps calling him fat- 'im a huge fan' 'well you are certainly huge'
give that jonah guy a break, he seems harmless enough.

Really its that easy in England. I don't think it took that much balls to do it in a room full of people who no doubt agreed with him. |

im all for a bit of piss taking, but calling the guy fat ect was a bit to far, especially as he just was trying to be nice to noel.

I don't think he would say it to his face.
Noel doesn't like confrontation - this is a fact as confirmed by him and if you read Tony McCarroll's book it backs it up. He'll do it over the phone or slag someone in an interview but there's very few occasions I can think of where he has done it to somebody's face while not drunk or on drugs. And please don't mention the GQ Awards, William Hague is an easy target to stand up and make a simplistic, naïve political comment about in front of a crowd who will cheer you anyway no matter what the fuck you say. Hague is hardly going to say anything back is he? And everybody hates him anyway.
If Jonah ever confronts Noel about this at an event he'd be looking for an escape route. A way out of lying in the bed that he made with his smack talk over the phone.

Yeah I know it wasn't an interview but doesn't change the fact for me its a mildly amusing cheap shot. I despise the Tory party and I'm not the biggest fan Mr Hague but to be fair to him he can't really respond in his position. This is before you take into account the importance of his job and the fact that he has probably worked harder and more hours in his stint as Foreign Secretary than Noel has in his whole life. I don't think a night off is the worst thing in the world. |
