I've decided to do Pitchfork-style decimal scores I might have focused on the negatives a bit too much, but I think my being here shows that I acknowledge the positives. 1) Be Here Now - 10/10 "Flawed" as it supposedly is, there's nothing else like it, and it's the only Oasis album that I still listen to in full on a regular basis. My Big Mouth is my favorite Oasis song these days. 2) Definitely Maybe - 9.8/10 IMO, song length is more of an issue here than on BHN since the production is so uniform across the tracks. Also, Shakermaker isn't on par with the rest of the album. Bring It On Down isn't that great either, a poor man's Headshrinker, really. 3) (What's the Story?) Morning Glory - 9.6/10 The songs are great, but the album doesn't have quite the staying power of the above two. Some of the tracks could benefit from rougher production (Hello, Roll With It). I wish Noel didn't repeat verse lyrics so often on this one... 4) The Masterplan - 9.5/10 The Swamp Song is not something I want to listen to. The other tracks are all great but worse on average than the above albums. 5) Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - 8.3/10 Great production and atmosphere. I even like Sunday Morning Call and the rockers that so many people hate. Little James is musically good even though the lyrics suck. There aren't any truly dire tracks. The highs just aren't as high as on previous albums. 6) Dig Out Your Soul - 8.1/10 First seven tracks are 9+ (yes, even GOYHHL in the context of the album). Last four are shit. 7) BE - 8.0/10 All the tracks are musically good but only a few are on par with Oasis's best moments. Start Anew sounds unfinished. The production is amazing, and the total package is greater than the sum of its parts. 8) Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - 7.0/10 Noel rock by the numbers... This wouldn't be a problem if Sardy didn't insist on putting the same plodding drumbeat on every track and sucking all the soul out of half the tracks. EOTR is ruined by tasteless Nickelback-esque vocal effects. The songs themselves are good but a bit samey. I hope Noel gets over his Village Green fetish and tries something else on the next album. This is definitely a step back from his work on Dig Out Your Soul. 9) Don't Believe the Truth 6.8/10 Easily Noel's weakest contribution to an Oasis album. The other band members save this album but can only do so much in the face of Sardy's brittle, life-sucking production. Easily the worst production on an Oasis-related album. Mucky Fingers followed by Lyla makes my ears bleed. It has fewer high points than any other Oasis album but doesn't make any major missteps other than the lyrics of A Bell Will Ring. 10) Heathen Chemistry - 5.8/10 The singles are great other than the verses of Little By Little. The other tracks range from dull to shit. Force of Nature is easily the worst Oasis song. If someone caught me listening to it, I'd have to kill myself out of embarrassment. 11) Different Gear, Still Speeding - 5.0/10 Gem's tracks are uniformly terrible. The lyrics are very uneven. There is not even an attempt at making a unified album, and there are too many tracks. The total is less than the sum of its parts, and the sum of its parts isn't that much either. There is nothing new to gain from the tracks upon repeated listens. A very shallow album that was obviously rushed out the door. Wigwam is a great song though.

This is pretty much how I feel about HFB, I'm glad someone else agrees, it boggles the mind when I see people put it as the third best Gallagher album, above Be Here Now!...

Interesting question.. for now I'd go
1. Definitely Maybe - hard to beat the brilliance, urgency, and downright confidence they had on this album. I didn't even hear it until about 2006 and it was still breathtaking, and it still is now. Rock n Roll Star, Live Forever, Columbia, Supersonic, Bring It On Down, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Slide Away...they are simply brilliantly flawless songs and no other band, including Oasis, would repeat the raw brilliance of those tracks. The sound of a band that is trying to smash the door down. 9.8/10
2. Be Here Now - loud, long, and mental. I love this album. The only part of the album I dislike is the chorus of Magic Pie which is pretty poor, but the first minute and a half of that song is one of the best pieces of music Noel has written and performed. The rest of the album is just the sound of a band who HAS smashed the door down and know how good they are, and are just pissing about. And it's brilliant. I like or love every song on this album. 9.3/10
3. What's The Story Morning Glory - I love this album, and unquestionably one of the best albums of the last 30 years. It is an album that can take your breath away but I have heard it sooooooooooooooo many times I don't play it as often as the top 2 which are more recent to me. So it's just a personal opinion, but when a song from that album does pop up, chills are always there. 9.2/10
4. Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants - criminally slated and awesome production. Fuckin' In The Bushes is one of the best post-00s songs, as are Go Let It Out, Gas Panic, Where Did It All Go Wrong and Roll It Over. There are some shit songs but I love Oasis when they are being dark and moody. 7.8/10
5. Dig Out Your Soul - first 5 tracks are stunning. The rest of the album is listenable, without being memorable. Falling Down and Soldier On are worth a mention as well, definitely a good album overall. 7.5/10
6 = Don't Believe The Truth - with The Importance of Being Idle my favourite tune, this will always be up there for me. The production suits the songs, but Liam's vocals are probably his worst on any album he's sang on. I can't stand the vocals on Keep The Dream Alive or A Bell Will Ring. But still, some other good tunes on here - Turn Up The Sun, Mucky Fingers, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel. Decent album, not the storming comeback people sometimes call it. A collection of 'tunes' sums it up well. Noel's verse on Let There Be Love is simply brilliant as well. 7.0/10
6 = Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - this rises above BE because it has 1 or 2 more memorable 'single-worthy' songs such as Everybody's On The Run, If I Had A Gun, The Death of You and Me, but it is a plodder and sorely misses Liam's vocals. The production is shite as well. 7.0/10
6 = BE - it's early, but if this had a knock-out single it would be comfortably ahead of HFB. Unfortunately, despite sounding fresher and more interesting than HFB, without a song or two that blow you away, it's hard to put it above Noel's album. Every song is a 7/10 sort of territory with a few lower. 6.8/10
9. Heathen Chemistry - these two albums get their own zone because all the albums above I consider at least good. This album is average, and that's only because it has 3 or 4 good songs with the rest being highly forgettable. Absolutely dreadful production as well, when The Hindu Times should blow you away in the chorus it just does nothing. Such a flat and boring record without HFB's strong few songs. 5.5/10
10. Different Gear, Still Speeding - same as above, but only about 2 or 3 good songs, 1 or 2 okay songs, the rest is forgettable and the production is equally as poor. 5.0/10

Different Gear, Still Speeding - same as above, but only about 2 or 3 good songs, 1 or 2 okay songs, the rest is forgettable and the production is equally as poor. 5.0/10Well-put I have to say, I agree with a lot of what you said about the albums. Although I'd put DM and WTSMG in the top two, followed by SOTSOG, then BHN. And kalas, I agree with what you said about Oasis vs post-Oasis with HFB and BE, although I'm sure you already know my thoughts on that. Noel + Liam = UNBEATABLE. But cloudburster makes a very good point about HC. It has flashes of brilliance like SCYHO (I know not everyone likes that song, but I do) but is more forgettable than the other Oasis albums...so I might actually have to rank HFB and BE above that! There isn't an album I think is terrible, and in fact I really, really like HFB; I like BE but less than HFB, and I like DGSS the least of the three post-Oasis albums. However, the Oasis albums had songs that blew me away and still continue to give me chills. Very hard to top that, in my opinion, so even when some of those albums have weaker moments, the strength of the other songs just catapults them above anything HFB or BE have done so far. As a result, I hate comparing HFB and BE with Oasis, because they're just different things. But my list would probably look something like: DM WTSMG (although there are some days that I feel WTSMG is above DM) SOTSOG BHN DOYS DBTT HFB BE HC DGSS

1. Definitely Maybe 2. Morning Glory 3. Be Here Now 4. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 5. Don't Believe the Truth 6. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants 7. Dig Out Your Soul 8. Heathen Chemistry 9. BE 10. Different Gear, Still Speeding The Masterplan would nestle in right after WTSMG, but I dare say it's equal to WTSMG, if not superior in places. - The first three are obvious choice.
- High Flying Birds is Noel's best song writing since WTSMG, but it obviously lacks the energy from Liam making it plod along.
- Don't Believe the Truth is when Noel's song writing started to get good again.
- Giants and Dig Out Your Soul are hard to separate because both suffer from the exact same problem - Good songs but let down by three bad choices (PYMWYMI, ICSAL, LJ vs. TNOR, AGN, GOYHHL). DOYS has the rocking sound of old Oasis but Giants has the more melodic aspect. Very very similar albums.
- Heathen Chemistry, as an album, is very poor. But it has great singles, making it superior to BDI's project
- BE suffers from poor lyrics, and yet more poor tracklisting choices. It's a better album than HC, but it lacks stand out songs like LBL, THT, SB, and SCYHO.
- Different Gear is a rushed job and it shows - it does have some good tunes and I wouldn't ever call it shit, but it is distinctively average.
All in all, Oasis-Noel-BDI don't make bad albums, but at times they have suffered from either, or both, poor decisions and accepting mediocrity.

Hmmm this is hard. Other than 1st place, and to a lesser extent 2nd, the others all interchange. I'd probably answer differently in 6 months....especially as BE could conceivably rise or fall.
But here goes
1. Definitely Maybe - possibly the greatest album ever. Perfection.
2. Morning Glory - suffers from being so played out in the mainstream that you don't need to listen to it yourself to hear the bulk of the songs regularly. Liam should have sang DLBIA and Roll With It is the kind of song Beady Eye would be castigated for if they came up with it now but it's hard to find too many actual faults with this album. Morning Glory itself is probably my favourite Oasis song.
3.Dont Believe The Truth - Noel's second peak began here and it clashes with the others peaking as writers within Oasis. From start to finish this is a belter. My only concern is that the same as on the later releases, Liam was left off too many tracks but its at its most noticeable here as he only sings half of Let There Be Love. Would probably drop Mucky Fingers or Part of the Queue for something sang by Liam, or just get him to sing Mucky Fingers. Came out at a real happy time for me as well which always helps.
4. Heathen Chemistry - probably the most shocking aspect of joining this forum was discovering how many of you disliked this album I had been in love with for a decade. I don't dislike any of the songs and the high points are spectacular. A really feel good album for me and also the tour was amazing. They had been my favourite band for years but this probably took me onto another level.
5. BE - was tempted to put it higher, then lower, then leave it out for now. But I've not listened to anything else for the past week and its still getting better. I love second bite but that may be the weakest track. Liam sounds incredible, some of the guitar playing is just on that perfect level, the extra sounds and what not add to the songs without them becoming all about the production. A really, really good album.
6. High Flying Birds - currently suffering from the same problem every oasis related album does in the second year of its life for me, and that's that I've played it so damn much I need to ease off a bit. It's a really good album though. I don't like soldier boys but everything else is stellar. Having my first dance to If I Had a Gun at my wedding in 3 months...love the feel of the album.
7. Dig Out Your Soul - been on heavy rotation for me of late. Another one I feel you lot under appreciate although I do, in this case, share the opinion that the track selection was poor. If Andy Bell really did offer some of his DGSS tunes and Noel preferred nature of reality then he must have been on drugs again. High Horse lady is just pointless. But the other 9 tracks are stellar...throw in a Liam-sung Record Machine and/or Boy with the Blues, and one of Andy's superior efforts and you have an album that for me challenges for 3rd place. The Noel writing Liam singing songs are all too rare and yet show that it is still the optimum way for music to be made. Would be a shame if we never had it happen again tbh. Oh and I love To Be Where There's Life, though I am coming round to the popular opinion that the remix is better.
8. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - an album that definitely aged well. Three songs which are career highlights (the opening two and Gas Panic!), but also some of Noel's laziest efforts. Leaving Lets All Make Believe off makes you think that maybe he shouldn't have given up drugs after all. Could have been a great album with that, Carry Us All & Full On - though Liam would have had to sing them both. If they'd done this we might never have got the songwriting democracy in Oasis - who knows really - and I don't necessarily think that would be a good or a bad thing but this album changed the game. Still love it, though.
9. Be Here Now - the worst oasis album but that's only like being the poorest billionaire in my eyes. I still love it. Just too many guitar tracks kill the great tunes underneath at times. And Magic Pie, oh fuck off will you. Should have put Angel Child on there as the token Noel vocal. D'You know what I mean, I hope I think I know, fade in-out and the first six minutes of all around the world all sit comfortably near the top of my favourite oasis song lists. Any of the songs in isolation (Magic Pie aside) are great in fact, but listening to it collectively just blurs things into one a bit. Sum is less than the parts.
10. Different Gear, Still Speeding - has recently re-emerged from the same thing Noel's album is suffering from. I love it but listening to BE makes me realise how much more they were capable of. The high points are worthy of the Oasis brand - Four Letter Word, Wigwam, The Morning Son. I personally love For Anyone and Wind Up Dream. There's nothing here I actively dislike but some of it is a bit throwaway which again makes it less of an album and more a collection of songs. Will still be something I'll go back to regularly though, and it's great live.
Hand on heart there's probably only about ten songs released by Oasis or their successors that I genuinely don't like so the result is ten albums I enjoy deeply. Hey, they are my favourite band for a reason.
Masterplan would probably slot in in third but not for certain.

Not gonna bother with a big write up but...
1. Definitely Maybe 2. (What's the Story) Morning Glory 3. Dig Out Your Soul 4. Be Here Now 5. BE 6. Don't Believe the Truth 7. High Flying Birds 8. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants 9. Heathen Chemistry 10. Different Gear, Still Speeding
The first two are immovable. Dig Out your Soul is my most listened to album on my ipod and I love how many different directions it takes. I normally stop listening to albums after 8 songs anyway so it's always a good one for me. BE just sounds so fresh and the bonus tracks add to it. Whilst I've stopped listening to it in the last few days, I can see it lasting the distance.

1. Definitely Maybe - between this and The Stone Roses début for best album ever 2. (What's the Story) Morning Glory - Not too far behind DM, One of the Greats. 3. The Masterplan - Proof that whatever Noel wrote turned to Gold in the mid 90's period 4. Don't Believe the Truth- Unfair on the other albums to call it a return to form but definitely the closest Oasis ever got to return to the heights of their mid 90's heyday 5. Be Here Now - Really is a great record just not quite as good as what came before it. Probably just a little too much of the white stuff involved in the making of this record. 6. BE - Stands up very well against Later period Oasis. Proves that Liam, Andy and Gem certainly have the ability to make a very good especially with the help of a World Class Producer 7. Dig Out Your Soul - The First half of the album is truly great and personally I find the second half a lot better than people say it is. 8. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - Really Love the feel of this album, gets across the fact that Noel and the band were in such a dark yet interesting place at the time. 9. High Flying Birds - Some Great songs on this album but production is truly dreadful and it's such a safe album. Much prefer a lot of the demo tracks than the finished versions of these songs. 10. Different Gear, Still Speeding - Again shit production, decent songs. Loved this album when it first came out but rarely listen to it now. 11. Heathen Chemistry - Nothing bad about this album but many of the songs a just too weak compared to other Oasis releases. High point is that this is when Liam first proves he can be a rather good songwriter with two of his songs.

i never expected that much last place or in between the last 3 albums for HFB, i like the songs but like the most say it's boring and I don't really have the need to listen to it. but i think i wont do any rankings anymore, cause every album has its own moment, when it works best. if I want to listen to HC then this one is the best for me in that moment!

I used excel. 1st is 10 points, 2nd is 9points... and lowest ranking is 1 point. opinions from 42 people not include MP
DM - 9.4 MG - 8.7 BHN - 7.3 DBTT - 5.5 SOTSOG - 5.0 DOYS - 4.54 BE - 4.53 NGHFB - 4.51 HC - 3.3 DGSS - 1.8
This is interesting! I had felt that L4E member evaluate HFB more than BDI and late Oasis ever.

Can't help but think people are way over rating BE because its new, i personally had it bottom, and it most certainly should be below HC for me, some great great tracks on that album even though i did myself rate it lowest Oasis album, which now i feel was harsh in hindsight. Each to there own though i suppose.

I put BE as second because after WTSMG is the album which I skip the least..
Flick of the Finger, Second Bite of the apple, Ballroom figured Iz rite Soon come tomorrow shine a light dont brother me
No other album contains so many songs which I can listen to without skipping which pisses me off when I see it isn't selling as well as it should just cos some people don't like the Band (personally, not musically)

It gets better and better with every listen! For me, it´s clearly more enjoyable than NGHFB, DGSS, HC and DOYS right now. Only time will tell, but probably this 17 songs will be the best collection of songs that any Oasis/Gallaghers related artist has put out after DM and WTSMG. Who cares the charts!Fuck, this is a great album

1) Don't Believe The truth - massively underrated 2) DM - Great debut, great songs 3) BE - Absolutely superb album 4) Heathen Chemistry - Again I find this underrated, good rock n roll album, the introduction of Gem and Andy add better musicianship. 5) DGSS - Great collection of rock n roll songs 6) DOYS - Some great songs, some guff on it. Lyrically not great, seemed a bit stale in places 7) Morning Glory - overrated 8) HFB's - Again overrated. EBOTR, IIHG, WAL, DOYAM, BA are good songs. The rest, not really. 9) SOTSOG - GLIO, Gas Panic, the rest not great 10) Be Here Now - DYKWIM is epic. The rest is not really. The introduction in "better" musicianship also gave way to worse songwriting which, in my opinion, was the beginning of the end of Oasis.

The perfect situation for an Oasis comeback would be (imho): Noel writing songs. Gem, Andy and Chris playing the instruments and developing the song musically. And finally, Liam singing.

Can't help but think people are way over rating BE because its new, i personally had it bottom, and it most certainly should be below HC for me, some great great tracks on that album even though i did myself rate it lowest Oasis album, which now i feel was harsh in hindsight. Each to there own though i suppose. When DGSS came out there were plenty of people putting it right behind WTSMG in terms of rankings. If I remember right most people around this time with DGSS put it ahead of DOYS, SOTSOG, HC, and DBTT. I agree with Let It Bleed. I think as time goes on BE will fall on a few rankings. Not to the bottom like DGSS did, but I think it may fall behind an album like HC or DBTT.

i never expected that much last place or in between the last 3 albums for HFB, i like the songs but like the most say it's boring and I don't really have the need to listen to it. but i think i wont do any rankings anymore, cause every album has its own moment, when it works best. if I want to listen to HC then this one is the best for me in that moment! I just took a scan of the three pages and it's pretty split between members who have a HFB's in their Top 5 and below their top 5. For this being the Beady Eye section just after the release of BE, that's pretty good. I think if the rankings were done in the Noel section it would skew a bit higher for him. I think the fact that's it's been about two years since it's release and it still does fairly well in rankings, ranking ahead of Oasis albums, in the Beady Eye section is good sign for how well HFB's has aged so far.

THE MASTERPLAN is NOT an album. but it feels like one somehow I can't see how, every song on it has the exact sound of when it was recorded, there's no cohesion on it and Liam's voice sounds very different from one song to another. Like fade away sounds like DM and The masterplan or underneath the sky sounds like WTSMG and so on. I've made a list on my itunes with every bsides, bonus outside the masterplan, it doesn't make it an album either. It's a compilation end of it. STC and Times flies are too, The masterplan is NOT an album by an means.

Tough one, especially that the "new thing" factor comes in.
1. WTSMG 2. DM 3. DBTT --- 4. SOTSOG 5. BE 6. BHN 7. NGHFB --- 8. DOYS 9. HC 10. DGSS
I'd say that the first three are in the 8-10/10 range for me, 4-7 are in the 7 range, 8-10 are in the 5-6 range. Time will tell.
