Liam has ended up with the lion's share of songs on BE, and rightly so - possibly the finest and eclectic he has had on one album.
Soul Love - Dark, eerie, atmospheric and almost hypnotic. Instantly my favourite on the album and one of his finest vocal deliveries in years. Beautiful track.
Don't Brother Me - Another experimental number, love the chord progression and bassline. Lyrically can be a little cheesy at times but I think it conveys a nice message. Still speeding.
Shine A Light - An upbeat rocker that lasts longer than 2 minutes. Nice shuffle and different with the percussion front and centre. Love the little piano bit in the intro and middle and then how it explodes. Universalise.
Start Anew - Album closer is kind of becoming Liam's forte, this being his 4th album closer and this is probably his finest yet. Helped with the beautiful production but some nice lyrics and a great melody. Perfect closer.
He also had a hand in the FOTF melody and other bits and pieces I'm sure.
Every single song has got a different vibe/mood, lyrically there is still work to be done but he has taken it up a notch and bizarrely it's Liam's songs that come across as the most experiment and sounded different than Oasis or previous Beady Eye.
A magnificent contribution to a very good album so far. Let's hope it ages well and Liam can carry this on in further work.
Thoughts?

I think Liam's improving as a songwriter and it'd be great to see him broaden his horizons even more so and write different styles of song like he's begone to do on this album. The plaudits have got to go to Andy on this one imo,

Liam wrote Shine A Light? I thought it was Gem all over, especially with the "man of the cloth" bit, sounds like something he'd come up with.

I'd love to see liam try something alone, it could be "imagine II" but I don't know, I've always like his songs.

If Liam was to do something solely on his own, I think half of it would end up sounded like John Lennon's solo stuff but I think the other half would be really groovy. Some of the stuff he rights has a really good shuffly beat; very 50's rock'n'roll, very the la's.

Liam is great on BE, his songs are strong and he is singing very well on it.

Typical Liam, 2 of the best on the album but also two of the worst. I'm hoping since this album doesn't sound the 60s Beatles and stones music, he has started listening to other type of music, that would be the best thing for his songwriting. You are what your record collection is, just ask Noel.

Be interested to see who has written the extra songs on the deluxe version.
But yeah Liams songwriting has improved a ton, not always keen on some of the lyrics but the actual tunes sound great.

Maybe this is a producing thing but the one thing I like the most about Liam's songs on this album is that his biggest songwriting flaw isn't present. He's not repeating ridiculous long codas, he's keeping it tight. With that being said, I do realize Soul Love and Don't Brother Me go on for a while but it's mostly experimental bits and not what we had in the past.

I dont mind the outro on Dont Brother Me, yeah it goes on a bit but at least it sounds good.
Must admit i've always wanted Beady Eye to have a long intro like the classic Nirvana song 'Aneurysm'. Be great to hear them thrashing guitars around for a minute before Liams voice comes in.

Liam wrote Shine A Light? Seriously ? That's my favourite song on BE !
Did he write Off at the Next Exit too ?

He has definitely got an ear for a melody and I think he does have it in him to write songs. I was shocked all those years ago at how good Songbird was. The problem is the lyrics can let him down and in those circumstances he should go to Gem and Andy for help. That what being in a band should be about anyway.

Liam's songs benefit enormously from the other band members and a decent producer fleshing them out in the studio- very basic affairs lyrically and musically but he can conjure up a half decent melody.
Start Anew is a significant improvement on The Morning Son and I'm Outta Time IMO but it's a tad repetitive like most of his numbers- rockers and ballads.
Nothing he's done since has quite recaptured the breezy simplicity of Songbird. I kinda enjoy Pass Me Down The Wine too.
I would rather see Liam work as a vocalist with other more progressive and accomplished artists a la Prodigy and Death in Vegas- that was the business!
After Oasis, this would have been a more interesting and credible (if less profitable) career move for him music wise- collaborations in addition to Pretty Green.

Shine a light is by far the worst song on the album for me. Agreed. Face the Crowd is pretty shite, too.

Without Liam would anyone even be listening to it? His presence is contribution enough.

Beady eye make a great team, Liam writes the ballads(start anew, don't brother me), Andy writes the rockers (face the crowd, FLW)gem writes a combination of the two (roller,SBOTA) when they team up it takes it to a all new level (flick of the finger)

World's Not Set... - Liam Back After The Break - Gem Off At The Next Exit - Gem Girls In Uniform - Andy Evil Eye - Liam Dreaming of Some Space is arguably Liam's too, its just one of his songs backwards.

Also here's a cheeky album of Liam's song throughout Beady Eye....
World's Not Set In Stone Soul Love Shine A Light For Anyone Bring The Light Evil Eye Don't Brother Me Man of Misery Wigwam Start Anew
Not the greatest but certainly not the world's worst set of songs. Some nice little tunes in there and a broad range of different songs.

I've always liked Liam's songs the most from LAG. He has that rare ability to make something different and new just because I guess he doesn't think about song structures and the usual way of writing songs. He breaks some molds, and that makes his songs interesting. Plus, he tends to come up with some beautiful melodies. Also here's a cheeky album of Liam's song throughout Beady Eye.... Don't forget your username, I love that one [/quote] I'm a big fan of The Morning Son, that much is probably pretty clear - one of their best tunes to play live. Just explodes. I left it off this makeshift album because it already had a few pretty lengthy tracks on there and I think Start Anew is a slightly better album closer. On a side note, he does like to write a long tune does Liam, about 60% of his songs are 5, 6 even 7 minutes long. No wonder he's always sticking up for Be Here Now.
