Personally I loved both songs acoustically and can't wait to hear the full scale production of Start Anew on the album.
Do the same people complaining about repetition say the same about Columbia? Not trying to start anything, just curious.

Not trying to start anything, just curious. For a long time I disliked Columbia because the ending did nothing for me. Just Noel repeating the same licks over the same melody over and over again with no variation until Liam comes in with "yea yea yea"'s.

6/10 overall for its repetition and failure to go anywhere. 8/10 for melody which is quite catchy and beautiful. In other words, another great idea that wasn't developed enough. This is a song that needs Noels brilliance in songwriting to polish it up. You sad sad man!! Noel's brilliance, hahahahaha! You Noel idiots make me laugh! I like Beady Eye more than HFB. But there is no mistaking that Noel can write a tune without much effort. The problem is, a lot of his tunes sound the same for that very reason.

I wouldn't say I dislike Columbia, but it is definitely not one of my favorites. Especially live.

I love Columbia its certainly one of my favourites worked a lot better in my opinion with the shortened ending like this.

Columbia is probably a highlight of the 94-97 period for me! Never want it to end

Didn't he do Stop Crying Your Heart Out on this night and his voice gave out completely? And then he couldn't sing for the rest of the tour and Noel had to often take over?

I remember reading in an interview or something that Liam was in such pain during the song he couldn't even finish it and his throat completely gave out and Noel had to take over. It might not have been on tour, but when they did get around to touring, he wasn't the same, Noel had to sing a lot of the notes Liam could no longer hit and Liam hasn't been since (although now much improved). Effectively, SCYHO, destroyed his voice.

I think it's the wimpiest thing I've ever heard, alongside For Anyone. Liked FOTF and SBOTA. Here's the part where I get called a troll for expressing an opinion...
in 3... 2... 1...

What does wimpiest have to do with anything in music? You the macho type that never gets in touch with your natural human emotions? What are you afraid of? I bet you listen to some hard core rap or death metal, not because you like it, but because you are obsessed with your image and that other people would think if they heard you listening to 'soft' music.

The Glasgow version is spectacular. The crowd's energy really takes it up a notch. Again not saying I hate Columbia, it's just not a favorite.

But I fail miserably, and it does hurt quite a bit to even attempt to bang out those notes. Liam should have had a vocal coach, he would have retained his great voice. Had he kept his era 2000 voice, it would have been an even more amazing 13 years.

Yes. I'm pretend to be a hard man, criticise people for being soft and playing acoustics at every opportunity, say "fuck" every other word and threaten to "leather" people on a daily basis. Yet the one time I had a fight I got my teeth punched to the back of my throat.

Why are people surprised that Liam sounds good? His voice always sounds good acoustically. His voice has NEVER deteriorated in terms of quality, it's always been there, it's just lost power and range when it comes to singing live over electric guitars and drums. Just guitar and his voice have always sounded good. This was from 2008
And this was 2005.
Quality of the voice has always been there

I only picked that version for the structure of the song not the performance (even though I think the performance is more than fine) but I really like their performance at glastonbury 2004, wonderwall was perfection with the slightly slower beat and liam grinding out the vocals loved it!

But if Coldplay etc came out with a track like this, 99% of the people would call it wimpy shit. I'm sure I'm wrong though.
