Think people are reading way too much into it. In Paris his voice sounded superb, yeah it wasnt perfect for Jools Holland but i'm not going to think its all doom and gloom.
Remember way back when Liam was hammered for that second night at Wembley when it was live on Sky, god i can only imagine the fury on this forum if it was around then after that performance when he had a huge tv audience viewing.
Lets wait till the warm up gigs either today or the ones middle of June to really see if his voice is alright or not

Come on... BE is a REALLY good record; may be not the best record of the next century but a really GOOD record. If Cast, Kula Shaker or even The Verve had made a come-back album like that last year, EVERYBODY would have praised it: the press, the public, me AND you ! I don't understand why so many people NEED to always criticize Beady eye ??! You loved Oasis ? We all did ! You loved Heathen Chemistry ? yes ! Standing on the shoulder of giants ? yes ! You didn't mind Oasis's lyrics were often dull ? No ! So please stop pretending Beady eye make shit and enjoy the record and stop jerking around.

Start Anew doesn't warrant the "explosion" halfway through except in the context of the entire album. It wouldn't work as a single, IMO.

This was disappointing after the acoustic performances, which were truly great. Liam sounded off on all of the songs, although it didn't matter much on Flick of The Finger. The problem for Beady Eye is that they are stuck in a loop where people view them as shite and their lack of commercial success only reinforces that perception. Any of sort of minor screw-up, like a bad vocal performance, is seized on by twitter and other assholes as confirmation of Beady Eye's shittiness. The only way to get out of this loop is to release a truly great album, which I don't think they are capable of, or get a hit single of some sort, which I think is possible, but unfortunately isn't coming off of this album. It's a case where being pretty good won't get them much further than being awful. Absolutely excellent post. Liam's voice is my favourite in rock history. On his day I don't think there's been anyone in history that matched his tone in a sense of being both rock'n roll and sweet, nigh-on angelic. He had an absolutely perfect voice for Oasis; loads of attitude but still sang in tune with passion, rawness and down right in-your-face-ness. These days, when he does a good performance, and I do stress... Good, like Paris - this forum goes in a meltdown and it's like "OMFG - Liam can actually sing!". For a man that's been in the music business for 20+ years and claims to be a singer, not a musician, then he really does spend most of his life out of tune and straining and struggling. Put it down to whatever you want, make any excuses that you like, but at the end of the day unless his voice is absolutely rested, he's not hungover, or he doesn't have to sing too loud (bless him...), then his voice is absolutely shot. The vocal in Paris was good... It wasn't great, it wasn't perfectly in tune. I know I'll get the usual 'oh fuck being in tune, it's rock and roll man!!!' posts from the fanboys, but anyone who actually knows music knows that most rock stars, despite their lavish lifestyle, can still fucking do their job at the end of the day. Liam's job is singing - when he's doing it live he doesn't do it very well any more. As I said at the start of my post, Liam's voice is my favourite in music of all time. It might not sound like it, but I'm forever trying to show a lot of friends that hate his nasely, whiney 'rock star' voice that he really can fucking sing - these days it's getting harder and harder. Any big public appearance they do is absolutely slaughter by 90% of people. The other 10% just still really fucking love Oasis. To give an example... A good friend who loves a lot of Oasis songs and finds both Noel and Liam hilarious (due to me forcing interviews on him) is pretty much your average person who thinks that Liam's voice is shot. When I show him MTV Most Wanted or Acoustic By THe Pool or Don't Go Away on Letterman he always says 'Yeah, fair play'. When I played him Start Anew, after him hating his vocal throughout the entirety of BE, and saying "Well, you must like his voice here surely?' his retort was 'It's better than the rest of the album, but he still just sounds like the tired, old Oasis singer that he is.' - can I argue with that, reasonably? Rockin' Chair's a beautiful vocal, Live Forever's a beautiful vocal and Slide Away is a beautiful vocal... Does anything he's done since 2000 compare? No. You might not expect it to after the life he's lead, but the general public does and if he can't do what he was best at then he can't fucking complain. Long winded rant, but just something I've been thinking of.

This is spot on, liams got a great voice, but try and convince a non oasis fan of that using live footage from jools or any other gig in 2012/2011, impossible I dont mind it though, i like the records the gallaghers make, and any liam voice, but to the non oasis fans its - in their words- "awful"

Does anybody know where the YouTube footage of Flick Of The Finger went? It can't have been removed for copyright because it was uploaded by the BBC themselves.
Alternatively, is there anywhere else I could find it?

thank u eve for the post. shame its not on youtube anymore cause for a band with "low" sales it had a very big number of views and that shows something about the band and their music.
