I know this may sound stupid but what has Dave Sitek really contributed to the music? He's added brass and left Liam's vocal raw. Other than that I don't think he's done much. From the songs we've heard his contribution to their music seems greatly overrated to me. Thats a tough question to answer considering none of us have heard pre-Sitek versions of FOTF and SBOTA You just destroyed Bruno's argument completely.

Bring the light Dave Sitek! lol...I actually have their 2011 album, Nine Types Of Light but I haven't heard it yet, any good? Yeah, it is a good album. Probably a top 10 album of 2011. My favs: - Second Song - Killer Crane - Will Do - Keep Your Heart

That may be so, but his contribution to the band's music is still overrated IMO, but that's just me. We've only heard the tip of the iceberg thus far. I've liked what has been released and I like reading that Sitek put the band in their place on certain songs. That sounds good to me. I'm the opposite on that i think, to me the producer shouldn't be telling the artist/band how they should sound, the band should get the final say IMO, but seems Beady Eye have got a good producer in and said to him, you know, spruce that up a bit for us. And i don't think that's a good sign, personally. However good the producer may be.

George Martin made a world of a difference for the Beatles for example. His ideas usually won out and took them to the next level in the studio. To me he is the 5th Beatle. From time to time an artist needs to be put in their place.

That's the point, you're asuming things based only on what you've heard. I think that's the best way to judge music. I'm not giving him any more or less credit by assuming what he's done behind the scenes. The music speaks for itself. I'm not saying you're wrong, you could be a 100% right and I could be a 100% wrong but all I'm saying is most people on the forum seem to be giving Dave Sitek a lot of credit for his work with BE. On Flick Of The Finger I read comments like 'great production, love the brass or love Liam's vocals'. Now we all know Liam intended to put brass on the album from the beginning and he also intended for his vocal to be left raw. But Sitek seems to be getting a lot of credit for these things too. But when SBOTA doesn't go down well people pounce on LAG's bad songwriting but say nothing about the 'production'. I just find that a bit odd, that's all. Judging from that, you are aware that you have nullify this whole thread including those mighty stringent points you had just posted prior and, presumably, will post henceforward. ...Nahh, if anything you deserve a medal. Hero.

Sitek working on DOYS would intrigue me. IF for nothing else "Falling Down", "Bag It Up" and "Soldier On".

"benign posting" ...Did you just learn that phrase at the School of Hard Knocks for Message Board Posting? Make sure you know how "benign" modifies before you insert it in front of "posting," as if it is some idiomatic expression. Here again, the meaning of the, said, expression cannot be understood simply from the separate meaning of each word, as you have just done(?). I don't know, if you meant the act of posting is deployed by my turning the act of posting itself into a question of discerning subjective motives, beliefs, hopes, and fears; then you are correct. But I doubt that very much. ....And so you have also decided that the correlation of my message board posts on here to "bland wallpapering" was so ingenious and insightful that you've decided to develop it twice over? If this is the case, all I have to say to that is: Good man, persistency is the way to result-oriented incentives. "Keep it up sport!"

If this guy has pushed them and made the record better he has done his job.

Proud to say I was at this performance/show. * FYI: Dave Sitek is the white guy in the band. I hate it when people quote a Youtube-Link, but this actually has to be one of the most incredible and mindblowingsongs written and recorded since Tomorrow Never Knows was invented by the tape machine in 1966. I had it on repeat for weeks when it was released in 2006. Apart from that, I can humbly recommend the album Sitek recorded with/produced for Scarlett Johansson (anyone remember, she seemed to become an indie icon once?) consisting of Tom Waits covers...especially the track "Falling Down", a duet with David Bowie. She sounds like Nico, but in a attractive way.

All his related projects have left me happy and I was extremely excited when Beady Eye and him hooked up. Music to my ears!

On a sad note, I was just remembered, when I saw him with his big afro on that Letterman video, that their bass player Gerard Smith already has passed away. What a great great band it was/still is.
