Hmmm on first listen I said that it was great, I still think that the aproach is great and all however I fear that Sitek might have done the same trick with all the tracks(1)insert brass into a regular demo/idea 2) 3) profit)

I'll check them out as I have never heard anything from them until just now. I am very picky with music though. And as an American, some of my taste would make many non U.S. music listeners vomit. Then again, most people I know(Americans) hate Oasis, BDI and Noel Gallagher, so fook them. Tame Impala is one of the best bands around, Lonerism is an almost flawless record and it's already a classic in my eyes, just my opinion though That might be an opinion but it is bordering on FACT. Great band!

I really like the song, quite different as everybody has noted but also it is a strong song. I think it has a very Gem feeling. 9/10 Up there with the best post Oasis songs, better than 90% of NGHFB´s.

FOTF got progressively better with every listen until it settled into a pretty good song for me. Second Bite of the Apple get progressively worse for me and will probably settle as an okay to solid track for me.

I like it, but objectively saying it's a mediocre song. I can see that granted the other 10 tracks are better than this, this could serve well as a stop-by in an otherwise better album. But still this is a somewhat weird choice for a single. I think it's on par with tunes like Digsy's Dinner, just with much better production. Well, they were greater at ballads in their debut (at least in my opinion) so I hope this is just testifying this tendency.
But come on, two years of preparation and this lyrics?

It stuck in my head after the first listen, so there must be some catchiness in it. Even with the repetitiveness I like the chorus and the second half of the song is very good - I'm not sure about the verses though (especially the first one).
Not a lyrics masterpiece, so to say (not that I waited for one!). Production is great, all in all, I enjoyed it.
I'm interested in how they'll do these songs live, brass parts have a central role.

4/10
Sounds alright and the chorus is slightly catchy. But the lyrics are horrendous and it doesn't really go anywhere. The production saves it. Still looking forward to the album.

I've heard it only once, I'll give it a proper listen when I get home.
But all I'll say is to those who are complaining like broken records about the lyrics, what were you guys expecting? Pink Floyd/ Roger Waters like lyrics?
This is Beady Eye not Pink Floyd, they write lyrics to go with the melody not the other way around. If you don't like the melody then fine, that's fair enough but for fucks sake stop complaining about the lyrics. The lyrics are not great but then again they're not a band from whom you would expect intellectual lyrics about politics and intelligent social commentary. If you were expecting this then well you were really building them up for a fall.

The lyrics are not great but then again they're not a band from whom you would expect intellectual lyrics about politics and intelligent social commentary. If you were expecting this then well you were really building them up for a fall. I'm sorry, but this is bullshit. In respect. Yes because expecting someone to take some care in their lyrics, especially a songwriter, is asking a lot? Last checked, the lyrics are part of a song and if you give damn about your song, you edit your lyrics. 15 year old kids edit their lyrics. No, no one was expecting Pink Floyd. Yes, this is Beady Eye. Does that excuse them from never really giving a damn about their lyrics, no. When you can't take the time to care enough about your lyrics to edit them over two years, that's called laziness and a lack of attention to detail. That's not even a Beady Eye thing. That's any artist, including Noel. When Noel puts shit lyrics out there, it's the exact same thing. Give a fuck about your lyrics. Part of songwriting, part of the craft, and it is a craft, is continually pushing to make your song the best possible song. And that includes lyrics. If that truly is the BEST they can do, then shame on them. The this is "Beady Eye" isn't an excuse. That's shoddy work. There are three songwriters, not 1 can help edit lyrics? Not 1? Over two years? Good lyrics can be simple. They don't have to be high flung ideas or Pink Floyd or Bob Dylan. But you have to take the time to care about them first, enough, to get the most you can out of them. And I refuse to believe that was the most they could get out of them. No, I wasn't expecting Pink Floyd. I was expecting lyrics that weren't written by a 5th grader. (Sorry, Bruno. Not attacking you. I just don't think you provided a viable excuse)

I know how you feel, they played here where I live last month but unfortunately I couldn't get off work that night. ): As far as their albums go I think I like them both equally... But gotta say my favorite song of theirs is the first song on Innerspeaker. It Is Not Meant To Be. Lonerism gets better every time I listen to it though. Also wanted their EP on Record Store Day but didn't grab it soon enough. I just don't have the luck with this band.

As for this new song...I'm not rooting for BDI to fail, but they just don't do it for me. Shame really.

Hell yeah. & Mind Mischief is my jam edit; I also enjoy the fact that this thread on Beady Eye's new song is scattered with random posts obsessing over Tame Impala.

I'm having a hard time figuring out though which album I like better...when this is done, I'll have to go back to Innerspeaker and try and decide. See I love this band, because I can put them on in the background and just go about my day, or I can crank them up and dance around the living room in my socks...

It's alright but, again, underneath the production, there isn't a lot there.

Gotta recognize good music when it comes around there's a lot of crap out there True that. This year has produced a few great albums so far, though. Lonerism was def my favorite from last year. Hopefully it'll grow on you like it did for me. Quality music for the win.

Yeah, I'd have a hard time deciding too if I really had to. But anyone who likes either of them gets props for having great taste in music yo Lennon which one you think's better? edit; Since they're both equally solid albums, just compared my top 3 from Innerspeaker with my top 3 from Lonerism. Lonerism wins.

If Beady Eye are Spurs, Sitek is currently Gareth Bale.
