i don't like to judge a song, at least from all that's going on with everything coming together til i hear it through decent headphones...... and speaking of headphones are these Beats by Dre headphones really worth it? I have a pair of $20 Sony headphones that i can't imagine anything being that much better than.......i've also heard Apple's new headphones are decent.... but yeah, a good song is a good fucking song no matter the sound..... God bless Don't think Beats are worth the price, you've got to be quite careful with them and they're too bass-heavy imo

Beat's sound terrible imo, they're just a fashion item and everyone wearing them looks like a dick. Much better headphones out there for half the price

Nobody will listen to that song in 2 years time. I'll gladly prove you wrong in 2 years when I play it just to prove a point.

I wish Liam would do that when he's not singing on stage

I don't get why people prefer FOTF above SBOTA. FOTF barely has any melody, and its repeated and stretched throughout almost 4 minutes. Didn't like it at first listen, even though I must say it has grown on my and I can appreciate it now. SBOTA has a verse, a (pre)-chorus and a bridge (or is that the chorus?). I also think the melody is much better than FOTF. Agreed, the “the world is up if you’re tough enough” is repeated a bit too much, but it’s a bit different everytime (with/without brass/drums)… The “come on, show what you love now keep the song from boring me, and even then, there’s more than enough variation in instruments used to keep it interesting, for Beady Eye I’d even go as far as saying it’s a rather varied song in their catalogue.
Of course it’s not as good as a lead single of Oasis, but why are people still expecting that? There are few songwriters that can “get” to me as Noel Gallagher did in Oasis or does at NGHFB. He’s the main reason I loved Oasis. That doesn’t mean I’m not still really excited for the new Beady Eye album. This song shows a lot of promise, and gets me excited for the next album. Plus, I think Beady Eye are a killer live band, can’t wait to see them! Noel’s album was better than DGSS imho, but Beady Eye, despite the lesser material, still managed to blow me away live, something Noel failed to do! (Even though I also enjoyed him, of course)

Lyrics in the verse are a bit stilted as always (sorry Liam) but the production and chorus are great, and the extra bars before the "world is up..." is one of the best parts of any beady eye song... leaves you hanging with just the right amount of anticipation and atmosphere

All I needed from some headphones

I can't understand why people moan about Liam's vocal. The line "Yes you’re not wrong, she wants to know what’s in your pocket" has to be one of the best Liam's vocals in years.

I like the song, but the lines "girl in the queue got my eye on you, think you're in and she's looking for sin" sound like Liam is pinching his nose, it's really nasally imo.

Yes you're probably right, but on the other hand that's the main difference from the other singers that makes his voice unique imo.

First time I heard the song I felt disappointed by it. Fotf, straight away sounded great and when I heard it wasn't the single, it then upped my expectations of sbotb. I listened to it several times over the next few days and now I've totally changed my opinion. I kinda got my head around the song and it style and it's a thumb's up from me. It's definitely a grower (something you don't normally get with Beady Eye) and it's a totally different direction they've taken their rock n' roll sound. Which is something people have been crying out for them to do. Lyrically, they're trying to be different. I think it's ok but does have a belter of a chorus. 7/10 for me, I think some on social media have been to quick to judge. But definitely a risky first single that is going to divide opinion when really they should be trying to unite people behind what they're doing.

Definitely agree with that, love that bit... I love Liam's voice past and present on record but the lines at the end of the verses "Just to hear her smiiiile" are quite tough to get through, very nasal, I'm guessing most of the moaning is aimed at that bit in particular

The chorus bit reminds me of The Turning quite a lot, which is a good thing. I still really like it, the energy the horns give during the loud bits contrast well with the stripped back drums and bass bit. It just sounds like a band having fun and they pull it off really, really well.

I've listened to it a fair few times, first on laptop speakers where it was hugely disappointing and then through headphones where it is much improved, but still lackluster, in my opinion.
I didn't rate FOTF too highly initially, but next to SBOTA it sounds pretty good.

Its pretty good. a lot of the disappointment for me came from the fact I was expecting something quite different (something like four letter word) but its definitely a grower.

Amusingly enough the first time I heard this was on an intro to one of the Champions League matches during the week and I thought to myself "Hmmm...sounds like Liam".
I really like the instrumentation and the general sound of it, but the song itself isn't great or all that memorable for a 1st single. Liam sounds far too nasally for me also.
Nowhere near as good as Flick of The Finger, which I think could be Beady Eyes best for me so far (along with World Outside My Room).

That's very true about World Outside My Room, I never really appreciated it until I heard live versions, especially the one from the Empress Ballroom!

Sent a mate of mine the YouTube link just to get an unbiased opinion as he wouldn't really be a huge music fan. Here is the text he sent back:
"Holy Jesus that's appalling. Liam sounds like an anteater howling through his snout. Poor."
