wonder why the Japanese versions are always loaded with extra songs we don't get? Oasis did that a lot too the answer's a few posts up sounds like a legitimate reason but its still bullshit

The japanese and asian people(and the latin people as well. But without the bonus tracks in most cases) pay more money to get their copies, and to prevent them from buying bootlegs copies of the album they release them with bonus tracks. So they can fairly charge more for the record. I didn't know that either. Makes sense now! Thanks. I've never understood this logic. It's easy to copy a cd. It's also easy to copy a CD with bonus tracks...

It was to prevent them buying imports wasn't it? Because imports could actually wind up cheaper due to the cost of CDs in Japan, but extra tracks meant people would be less tempted to do so. That's what I always thought, rather than copies per se

That's what I always thought, rather than copies per se This is exactly right taxes on domestic CDs make them more expensive than imports so the record companies put extra tracks on to get people to buy the domestic version
