Couldn't this tune be called Kill Switch? The last line is "unitl they can with a flick of their finger tear a million of you to pieces" which sounds an aweful lot like a reference to a Kill Switch... How do we know this tune is called Flick of the Finger anyway? On the radio link, at 21:29 , they said the name track, Flick of the Finger. www.kcrw.com/media-player/mediaPlayer2.html?type=audio&id=mbeBy the way, on the radio they said "little preview", they don't say new single. And when you hear the show there's a tab for the playlist and flick of the finger is the song by Beady Eye and 'Promo' is the album title...

leave Shockmaster alone - he's just an obnoxious and over-zealous kid. God bless. Haha, thanks for sticking up for me in a way only you could... But it's banter, I know they're not being malicious towards me... However, what I posted is genuinely what I believe.

Now that we know that FOTF isn't the first single, it really feels like they're up to something good

4 listens and I just wish that Liam's singing didn't sound so.. 'distant' from the instruments (is this even a real criticism?) Like, either I want him drowned in the sound, or shouting to stay on top of it.
Shit I hope they just keep pushing it. I'd rather they write brilliant songs that divide opinions (TMS) than 100 more good-to-average songs that everyone can agree on (FLW)

Now that we know that FOTF isn't the first single, it really feels like they're up to something good I still feel bad, even if this a teaser/taster. I'd hope this is one of the bottom three songs of the album. That's just me personally. It suffers from the same symptoms as the songs on DGSS, except it's better produced. So for me, the songwriting is still in question. Because in the end, good songwriting is what keeps me coming back to songs, not the production. So I feel this is a song I'll like for the next two weeks, but not something I'll be searching for in my player to play two months from now. And I hope the rest of the songs are not of the same variety. Great production, yet average songwriting.

I've been excited for the release of a song but I didn't have high expectations just because I didn't know what direction they were going to go in. For me, this is getting me excited; it reminds me of some Bond theme song

If this is indeed not the lead single, we're in for a treat. I love this song, I love the sound.
This might be the 'experimental' album Oasis always missed.

But if this is the album's Bring The Light (which was a free teaser as well) they have found a way to make the more average songs interesting, and that's something.

And I hope the rest of the songs are not of the same variety. Great production, yet average songwriting. I think of it's just an album track it could be one of those tunes that sounds good in context but you would necessarily pull out to play on it's own. I'll be interested to see where it fits into the album. If it were on the album and leading into another song that is of the same vibe but turns up the intensity...it could end up feeling kind of like an extended intro into a great track...it would better better in context than on it's own. If feels like it should go somewhere but doesn't...but maybe that's because it's leading to the next track? Judging by the end quote and the fact that the single is call Kill Switch I wonder whether it's the lead-in track to that. Would make the dichotomy of the subject matter make a bit more sense to me. It'll all depend on the songwriting of the rest of the album sure but if they've created a cohesive album not every song needs to stand out individually as long as it serves a purpose and improves the album. I'll be really interested if the album is more concept driven and less and random collection of song like DGSS. And the way that they've been talking maybe that the case. Obviously they have to have the singles though...and that is where they fell down last time IMO. We've always known they were album the write decent album tracks...the question remains if they can write those standout tracks

Gonna be brutally honest now... I think that if this is anything to judge the album by, they'll break up by Summer 2014. I cannot take anyone who is going to see Lana Del rey or muse seriously

If that's true, "Kill Switch" could be the explosion that never happens in FOTF... Interesting idea !

I liked how copy and pasting your Review on 2 different threads here wasnt enough, you did it on the soapbox and they all just dissed you too.

Do you think people on the soapbox actually like Beady Eye? It is all an act to piss off the Noel fan boys. I'm sorry I don't like a song that goes nowhere and people can go on about vibe or horns like they just discovered some revolutionary instrument, but its a drab song with a silly sample that tries to be provocative. Vibe is great when its nailed e.g. Ride - Sennen, My Bloody Valentine - What You Want, NEU! - ISI, Boards of Canada - Kids for Today, and so on. The major difference is those are superior pieces of music.

Is the general feeling that this is not the actual single? The general feeling is that this song is merely a skirmish. The real battle begins April 15. Buckle up.
