Heard it again just now, well it's a good song, chorus or no chorus but I'm afraid if this is the new Beady Eye single, IMO it doesn't have a chance chart wise. Nothing they release will have a chance in the charts but I get what you mean, it sounds like a pretty good album track to me but not a single, I suppose it depends on what else is on the album

The more I listen to it, the more I find myself forgetting about the absence of a chorus, quite a bold move from a Gallagher not to have a catchy chorus really, all Noel tunes tend to have a catchy chorus or verse

For me the brass makes up for the lack of a chorus, it's brilliant. I can't get enough of it.

Here are the chords (I think). Thanks to GasPanic2000 for sorting the lyrics out! Intro: C#5 (many bars) B A F# C#5 B A F# Woke up this morning, I was late, off out on the dark side, E F# With the moon and the room on the wrong side. C#5 B A F# I took a needle for myself right back at the seams, E F# I saw my universal gleam. (and so on, chords are the same) I see the wonder of life and look for the wall, Taking a walk in the sun. In time, in just a second like the ghost of a bad idea, I feel myself getting the fear. Come on, have we decided if we like being part of the plan. It sends us shifting and there’s nowhere to land It's on; it doesn't matter if all of these tickets are sold And all the old stories are told I know you’re gonna tell me that you hear every word I say But the future gets written today; Yeah the future gets written today. “Don’t be deceived when our revolution has been stamped out and pat you eternally on the shoulder and say that there’s no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason to fight because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretense of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they’ll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces.” Feel free to correct! I'm just a novice transcriber![/quote] Nice one mate! very fun to play it along.... I just guess instead of the E he goes back to A like: C#5 B A F# A F#

The production and sound is great, my only problem is that the song doesn't really go anywhere. The star of this song is really the production. agreed.... it doesn't grab you by the balls like a 'four letter word'. i'm not sure about this being 'first single material' (but then again , i wasn't sure about 'bring the light' , either) i need a few more listens to make a determination. many thanks to thuperthonic! V Production is great, can totaly hear Siteks influence, very TVONTHERADIO....but...yeah...theres 10 seconds of decent Melody just repeating itself....u wait forr the Uplifting Chorus but they just dont come.....

Epic. The drum change at 1:17 is gold.

i can only wonder if the still-unheard death in vegas sessions might have sounded similar to this.

For me the brass makes up for the lack if a chorus, it's brilliant. I can't get enough of it. Totally agree. The catchy brass may be even better than any chorus that could have diminished the song

Couple more lyrics changes to that bit above. The first line goes "Woke up this morning, I was laid out flat on the dark side."
And the sample goes: “Don’t be deceived when our revolution has been finally stamped out and pat you eternally on the shoulder and say that there’s no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason for fighting because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretense of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they’ll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces.”

Just listened to DGSS, and there are some songs I thought I hated which now compared to this seem instantly better. I would even say i prefer EVERY track on DGSS to this new one, personally. This just can't be the lead single, i defo think we will hear a new song on the 15th, or at least i hope so.

You hate the song, fair enough, no one is forcing you to like it but don't claim to factual when all you are doing is stating an opinion. It's not "FACT" that this song is rubbish because some people like it

It's all down to personal opinions Personally, except for a couple of songs, I've always found DGSS quite dull and uninspired. SOTEOTN is the worst song ever released by the Gallaghers and The Morning Son is the most boring track ever recorded by them. Kill For a Dream, Beatles and Stones and Wigwam are good, FLW is very, very good but the rest is quite forgettable. All IMHO, obviously I see the new track as a positive change for the band: I was getting tired of all the "60's, Beatles-esque, Lennon, etc" stuff... We can say everything about Flick of the Finger, but you can't deny that it's got a very fresh sound (at least for something Gallagher-related)

I like it. I couldn't care less if it's not something for the "charts" - they are irrelevant these days anyways, and no good musicians in history sacrificed their own ideals of their sound for chart success and ended up better for it.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned that should be - it's really, really good that this got played on Morning Become Eclectic. This is not the show for derivative, go by the rulebook, commercial music. It's for music lovers (and those that know a LOT about music). You won't get on here with something that is generic, and people that listen to the show could care less if it is a hit. One thing about the U.S. - you can have a long, successful career and never make the charts. There are many artists that can tour large venues, put out well-received lps, and have long careers and do quite well and you'll never hear them on the radio.
