Here are the chords (I think). Thanks to GasPanic2000 for sorting the lyrics out!
Intro: C#5 (many bars) B A F#
C#5 B A F# Woke up this morning, I was late, off out on the dark side, E F# With the moon and the room on the wrong side.
C#5 B A F# I took a needle for myself right back at the seams, E F# I saw my universal gleam.
(and so on, chords are the same)
I see the wonder of life and look for the wall, Taking a walk in the sun.
In time, in just a second like the ghost of a bad idea, I feel myself getting the fear.
Come on, have we decided if we like being part of the plan. It sends us shifting and there’s nowhere to land It's on; it doesn't matter if all of these tickets are sold And all the old stories are told I know you’re gonna tell me that you hear every word I say But the future gets written today; Yeah the future gets written today.
“Don’t be deceived when our revolution has been stamped out and pat you eternally on the shoulder and say that there’s no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason to fight because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretense of bringing them culture. Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they’ll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces.”[/quote]
Feel free to correct! I'm just a novice transcriber!

Same--I like the trumpet. As I said in the Facts & Fiction thread, I think this song will sound great live--with the live brass section, maybe some strobe lights and flashing words on the screen ala Fuckin in the Bushes (I like the sampling at the end). "But the future gets written today."

From a quick search, I discovered the quote is by "Jean Paul Marat, 18th Century French Visionary (and revolutionary), murdered in his bathtub by Royalist Charlotte Corday" ( whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/quotes.html)

I don't know if this is the exact clip that's sampled, but it could be:
From the 1967 Royal Shakespeare Company production, Marat/Sade
Edit: To hear the quote in context, starting at about 6:20:
This seems like quite the film!

Anyway a nice surprise this morning
I thought I wouldn't like the horns but I'm enjoying this
I don't reckon it's the single, more like bring the light. A teaser/sampler before the main event
I wasn't keen on bring the light at all. This I'm enjoying a lot. Wasn't expecting the sound at all. Sounds more polished and advanced than anything on DGSS
8/10. Excited more than ever to hear the album

Goosebumps. The boys are back with a bang.
The instrumentation and production is flawless.
Liam's voice is top.
It's groovy, heavy, epic, fresh...
The song's structure is different, and that's what probably bothers some of you, but to me it's fine.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a taster and not the actual single. Guess denizz can confirm or deny this.

I think it sounds great, a huge step forward. Very excited for the album now!
On a side note: If "Flick of the Finger" is any indication of what lies ahead production wise, I wish Oasis had got Sitek in for Dig Out Your Soul.

What a tune One Way Glass is. It sure as hell is!!! A definite lost gem of the 1960s. Yes, I thought of One Way Glass, when I heard it, too. They're the same in the sense that there's no real chorus (or its place is taken by the brass section). Does not sound like a single, but it sure sounds way more interesting than DGSS. The sonic landscape is great, I'm loving the guitar licks as well.

Excited for the sound, not excited for songwriting if this is the single material for the album. Singles are supposed to carry an album and this sounds more like a standard album track than the single. If the singles that are supposed to carry this album have this level of songwriting, then that does worry me. I was hoping this would be a teaser. But I'm still hoping the second single provides for better songwriting.....but the actual songwriting on this song is fairly average. And it has nothing to do with the structure. Just a song based more on polish than the actual song. Great sound, lackluster in other areas. Thank you for the confirmation/info Dennizz

Singles are supposed to carry an album and this sounds more like a standard album track than the single. What kind of shit albums do you listen to? Man you try to sound so impartial and reasonable, like your opinion is judged off perfect logical objectivity or something. I hope nobody is actually taking you seriously.

We're in for some serious butt-clenching if this is the best BDI has to offer. We shouldn't be that surprise I suppose, we knew going in that the guys were poor songwriters, a fancy, futuristic produced turd is still turd.
Does the song even have a chorus? And this is supposed to be the most catchy song to represent the album and hook people in? Really? This has mega flop written all over it.
He was only hinting that he wants an Oasis reunion after their last tour, he will be begging Noel for it after this one.

I like it. But the more I listen to this song the more I feel it's like... I don't know... a better production ver. of Man Of Misery?

Sounds absolutely fantastic from a production standpoint. The main riff throughout the song is very Beady Eye. That was one of the first things I noticed. A bit like Noel's riffs and solos all used the pentatonic scale in the early days - Beady Eye have a very recognizable style in their riffs and such.
I hope there are stronger songs on the album. We don't necessarily need anthems, but we do need some balls and a good hook.

There is more to music than hooks and choruses. Ride's Nowhere is the perfect example of this.

This is a basically what i wanted. I wanted something understated, rather than the typical Oasis/Beady Eye trying deperately hard to get your attention with a comeback single. If Bring the Light was the loudest most OTT, attention seeking, average looking, peroxide fake blonde bird in bar that you can only enjoy after 8 beers then Flick of the Finger is a more assured, confident, cooler and classier better looking bird sitting in the corner drinking red wine and deliberately not drawing attention to herself and therefore infinitely more attractive. I know which i'd prefer to wake up to the next morning. I'm glad it's not got a chorus, i'm glad Gefe is disappointed as it doesn't sound like The Roller, turn up the last minute and it sounds really quite epic. Reminds me of Ian Brown's solo stuff a bit. I fear for Liam singing those opening lines live, it's pretty high in his range. But i don't care for now, i'm really pleasantly surprised.
