It's much more mature than their last record for sure. Only had one proper listen though.

I think as Oasis fans we are a bit spoiled to like a band that came right out of the gate with 2 classic albums. Some may not be used to a band finding their feet and their own sound. I'm really liking this song and it makes me even more excited for what is to come!

Is This It? The sound isn't groundbreaking by any means, but for Beady Eye its a sea change. They are no longer the derivative post Noel mess that made up a good portion of their debut. Instead they sound like a band being pushed kicking and screaming into the 21-century. Despite this something is missing. There are moments where it sounds forced-from the tacky sample that dominates the outro to the Kasabian aping intro, but thats not the main problem. The magic or IT FACT is its main undoing. Oasis classics were backed by the sound of nostalgia, while Radiohead best work pushed the band and its listeners both sonically and emotionally. Beady Eye bring none of these facets to the table. Instead we have the sound of men slightly confused about where they stand in this market at this time. As Ray Davies once said: I hope tomorrow we'll find better things. 6.2/10 don't quit your day job. God bless. Pitchfork might actually like this "style". But the score is way too high for them a 2.35 might be an actual Pitchfork score.

God bless.

Like the song, definitely doesn't really feel like a single though. And as others have said the production's really good.

Tripping balls at nearly 30 years old sounds great.

Wow......the boys delivered. I was not expecting this when returning from work. Liam's vocal sounds ultra fresh and clear. Bravo Dave Sitek. Love the sonic landscape and horn section. Reminds me a little of Manfred Mann Chapter Three "One Way Glass". I have a feeling this will just be the tip of the iceberg of interesting material.

I'm so happy with the direction they're going in, and it's great to hear Liam's vocals loud and clear

Liam's voice is crystal clear; love it. Has a cool early 70's TV tune to it. Very promising for the record as a whole.

In a nutshell, it is absolutely sh*t. People on here must feel obliged to like it. In my opinion that is absolute pony, and if that is the lead single I will ate my own cock. Quoted. I think it's a hurried statement. The song isn't a classic, but it's a grower!! It's 2013, music is bad nowadays anyway.

Well, what a nice little surprise, trawling through early hours Twitter! WOW! Absolutely love it! Got very excited about this album as soon as Dave Sitek came on board and if this first track is anything to go by it's definitely going to be the huge leap forward from DGSS that's been talked up. Remains to be seen whether it is the actual first single proper or more a promo like BTL. I wouldn't say it really feels like a 'single'. Not expecting too many obvious singles though and I'm not that bothered, much more interested in the album and how it all fits together as a whole. I'm sure FOTF will sound even better in that context, as I'm expecting with most of the new songs. It sounds like it could be the opener and would be a real statement of intent if it is. Without a doubt the most interesting thing they've done so far.
Liam's voice though, as good as he sounds, seems a bit low down in the mix. Not often he gets out muscled in a song but he seems to come off second best this time, though up against that brass section I'm not sure who wouldn't! It's absolutely IMMENSE! Quite happy for it to dominate the song tbh. Great first track and if this is the one Scott Rodger said wasn't even going to make the the cut then I'm very hopeful this album will be MEGA! Very happy right now.

Exciting times ahead for sure. Onwards!

The production and sound is great, my only problem is that the song doesn't really go anywhere. The star of this song is really the production. agreed.... it doesn't grab you by the balls like a 'four letter word'. i'm not sure about this being 'first single material' (but then again , i wasn't sure about 'bring the light' , either) i need a few more listens to make a determination. many thanks to thuperthonic! I'm excited about the new album and how the rest of the songs will sound. I think this is definitely a step in the right direction. I think they took some risks with the instrumentation and production here, and it paid off.

I'm loving the use of the trumpet. I was kind of worried but it works out really well.
Now we NEED to have Round Are Way in the setlist!!!
