Not really a 'best guitarists ever' thread but which guitarists have influenced the way you enjoy and appreciate music the most? If you are a guitarist, who has influenced your playing? Here's my list... 1 - Noel It was the way he played wonderwall that got me into all this, so many years ago 2 - Nick Valensi/Albert Hammond Jr (the Strokes) The way they played together was like magic to my ears the first time listened to Is This It back in 2001. Although I always loved Oasis and Noel (and gem and bonehead's) way of playing, it wasnt until the Strokes that i beleived I could actually do it too. They made it sound so simple. I got my first guitar that year. 3 - Johnny Ramone (the Ramones) The first time I heard the Ramones debut, it blew my mind and completely changed the way I understood and appreciated music. The point: you don't need to be technically brilliant to make a good song. 4 - Mick Jones (the Clash) I love the sound he got out of the guitar. I still try to sound like Mick Jones! 5 - Neil Young Got into him later than I should have, given we share a hometown. Love his 'caveman' style of lead playing and how well his songs are suited to electric and acoustic. Your turn

- John Frusciante - guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his playing on Mother's Milk and especially Blood Sugar Sex Magik is amazing.
- Jimi Hendrix - no explanation really needed, heavily influenced John Frusciante.
- Keith Richards - i like his use of different/open tunings.
- Kurt Cobain - simplistic, made others' songs great, i.e. The Meat Puppets songs covered on MTV Unplugged.
- Noel Gallagher - melodic and simplistic.
God bless.

David Gilmour - I love a lot of his solo, the Comfortably Numb's solo is my favourite of every time and it's the reason cos' that is one of my favourite songs
Johnny Marr - I love his way of play the guitar,he seems cool, and I love the melodies and the riffs of The Smiths
Sergio Pizzorno - Don't ask me why,I don't know,but I love him...maybe cos' he's cool too
Graham Coxon - For me he's got a lot of technique,he's really really nice, and I love his work with Blur
and then of course Noel,he isn't really a guitar hero, but he inspire me to take a guitar and learn some (Oasis of course) songs,he put me into the music, and I love the 99% of his solos...simply,but melodic, they sound great
