I think Liam may harbor that wish but I'm not sure about the others. Radio 2 is thought of as an oldies station but always has played a better range of music. It made no difference to Noel being on there if Beady Eye's tune is good it would still do ok there.
Zane's show is a little different, he has more scope to showcase records old and new and it would reach a lot of people it being there.
I don't know tbh, XFM would be fine imo and you are right. I like some pop music but radio one is beyond shit now, the playlist last time I looked was so small and worse still its so similar. Maybe that is a sign of the times though.

Ok sorry :/ you asked a question and I answered
Maybe you dont know radio 1 either then as i said earlier beady eye wouldn't get radio 1 play listed as they are to old noel didn't get play listed, Robbie Williams didn't, beady eye won't.. So they definitely aren't aspiring to this.
They use Zane Lowe as he champions 'new music' I'm sure they'll get some love from Alice and Phil too late night but they know they won't get play listed there

I have often thought if that was why I now hate radio 1 and while i'm sure its part of it I can't help but thing the public's obsession here with manufactured or mass produced rubbish has something to do with it.

I only remember because it surprised me and Noel hadn't gotten any love from them because of his age and they released around the same time. Not out of the realm of possibility but very unlikely.

Pretty sure U2 got some play when they were Liam's age. But we are talking about a pop behemoth there not a band with one album under its belt.

It's because they are still a band if oasis were still a band they would be play listed. If Artic monkeys or kasabian last til old age etc they'll could still get play listed.
Noel was a 'new' artist who was post 40, Liam and the boys fall into that caterogory.
R1 have a legal requirement to get more 15-29 listening to them that's why they 'have' to play pop stuff not celebs from the 90s

Haha. I have a tendency to second guess posting stuff. For those that missed the preedit I just said that the other guy are hard to read but they probably have more modest expectations since their own band were only moderate success at best. Didn't want it to seem like I was pick on Andy or Gems bands though. I'm always amazed at how powerful the reality TV influence is in the UK. The fact that a TV reality show single can always make it to the Christmas #1 amazes me! I sometimes wonder if there actually is more manufacturing going on now or if we are just more aware of how much of stuff is manufactured. There was quite a bit of obvious manufactured stuff in the 90's too and even before. It's just now they have taken what execs used to do in board rooms and put it on TV...so now it's so obvious that what we are getting fed in pablum. Before there used to be more performers like Katy Perry. As manufactured as anything else but portrayed as a genuine artist who writes material and has a genuine musical viewpoint.

Does anyone know what label it will be released on in the U.S.? They are no longer on Dangerbird. The head of Dangerbird is now at Elektra, but the band is not on the that roster either. As far as I can tell, they may not have a US label -- which is a huge problem. And don't say they are releasing it on their own label - it has to be distributed by a larger entity or it is dead on arrival.

I still wish that they would listen to the music instead of just look at ages. If BDI made a record that sounded youthful and would appeal to a younger demo it'd be great if they actually considered it. Fair enough that DGSS sounded pretty old and retro but with Dave Sitek it might sound more modern and forward thinking. But that's probably naive. It shouldn't be the artists ages though...it should be their listener demographic. Such a stupid way to run a radio station. Programming that a chimp could do.

It's because of the way the bbc is run every household in the u.k has to pay the bbc a licence fee every year. This means they have to create content for every person who might pay this fee. Radio 1 is aimed at 15-29 yr olds. At the moment the average age listening to radio 1 is 30+ If radio 1 doesn't get the average down to below 30 and towards the demographic they have to hit then will get fined. That's why they don't take chances and play pop shit you don't care for, tho they could just big up Liam's tweets

Radio 1 aren't going to playlist Beady Eye - no chance. The only reason Zane would play it is because I think he has editorial control - ie. he plays what he wants within acceptable taste reasons.

Tho I do think its like your parents should never like your music ( / vice versa) you should never like radio 1's My parents raised me to love Elvis Presley, and to this day i still love Elvis. Good music is good music, and my parents also like some Oasis tunes also. In short i don't agree with you.

I was talking in general not specifics. The main point is that radio 1 plays mainly pop aimed at children/young adults Then radio 2 etc plays different music aimed at at 30+ which is the age of most parents 99% of people say radio 1 plays rubbish music because it plays music not aimed at them

I find Radio 1 and 2 both as bad as each other in truth.
