The last kingdom. I love Bernard Cornwell's books and I think they did a great job with them, even if Uhtred is way too pretty. But then, a woman can live with that. I am really looking forward to watching it again via DVD and, of course, the next season, if there will be one.

He's was by far the best part of the show. Was a little underwhelmed by the show compared to Daredevil but thought he was great. I don't watch Dr. Who so besides the Fight Night remake I hadn't seen him before. Every time he's off screen I was waiting for his return. You really should. Not only is it just a brilliant concept, brought to life with genuine heart and humour, but if you like Tennant, you should be laughing, because he was the leading man when the show was at its zenith really. I'd say Series 5 is the peak of Modern Who so far, but David Tennant is still the man to beat Doctor-wise. @sternumman, I'd also strongly recommend the show. I think "Dalek" would be a good test to see if you like it or not - it gets a good bit of exposition on the story in while also introducing key characters and aliens.

I liked Rose and Eccleston as the Dr, I think it was just to silly for me. Ill probably give it another shot down the road maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind when I started watching it.

New X-Men: Age of Apocalypse trailer is out. I'm not watching it (yet) Looks interesting. The new ones have been much better than the original franchise.

It's undoubtedly very silly at points, and some of the special effects have not aged well at all, but if you can look past that, there are some genuinely heart-breaking moments in it, and at its best, the show has a knack of reflecting the real world that we live in now, back on to us. There's an episode in the first series, that seems on the surface, just one of the more sillier outings, with Simon Pegg playing the primary antagonist, but look a bit harder, and you'll find it's actually taking on multi-media corporations like Murdoch media. And watching now in 2015, you could be fooled into believe Simon Pegg's character The Editor, what with his constant need for information, was a precursor to the twitter and Facebook-obsessed world we live in now. Trust me, at its best, there are few shows as cleverly written as Doctor Who. Yes it can be grating - almost painful at times - but when it's at its best, it's definitely worth getting in to.

I think the "big bad" is a little over the top but the cast is really good. Not hyperbole but the fight scenes are best ever done on tv. There is one in particular in episode two that belongs in a movie. Up to season two of It's a little soap opery and the actual football on the show is ridiculous but for some reason I like it.

Harold Crick: You have to understand that this isn't a philosophy or a literary theory or a story to me. It's my life. Professor Jules Hilbert: Absolutely. So just go make it the one you've always wanted.

Just binging on Tarantino ahead of The Hateful Eight. My favourite director by a long shot.

Although I felt the last act could have been trimmed somewhat, I really enjoyed Django Unchained and I can't wait to see The Hateful Eight.

I just hope it's not an other Deathproof ( allthough I like elements of it) Deathproof had some great dialogue and was building up nicely until he killed all of the main characters and started afresh with new ones halfway through. From that point, Tarantino lost me and I struggled to get back into the film. Luckily, for me, it's a rare blip. I hope you're wrong about The Hateful Eight but I'm quietly confident it's going to be a good one.

But Tarantino writing dialog for girls (imagining how girls would talk) is even worse than him writing dialog for black characters (IMO of course). Everyone in this movie talks like just like Tarantino would. This just gets in the way, especially in the chilled out scenes. But not all of the dialog is bad. And also the great acting puts this to the side. Django and Bastards showed he was capable of a better character development. Btw. ... Did you know, a lot of the cast of Deathproof apeared in Noel Gallagher videos?

To be honest, I'm not a fan of music videos and apart from The Death of You and Me and The Ballad of the Mighty I, I've never watched any of Noel's other videos all of the way through.

Just saw this thread while doing nominations so decided to bump it.
Told my girlfriend we would watch a Christmas movie a day in the lead up to Xmas day, so far I've been through:
Elf - A great Christmas tale starring Will Ferrell, watch if you haven't seen before Home Alone - A classic, watch although you've seen it before! The Santa Clause - Tim Allen puts on the red suit but only his son believes him. OK Scrooged - One of the best Christmas movies, Bill Murray in a twist on the old tale Jingle All The Way - Holiday cheesefest with Arnie, can remember going to see this in the cinema Miracle on 34th Street (1994) - First time watching this, first half was good, second was boring Die Hard - "Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho." Bad Santa - Billy Bob Thornton as a boozed up, sex crazed Santa. One of my favourites Just Friends - Good holiday comedy where you can switch off your brain and let the antics unfold Fred Claus - Alright movie with Vince Vaughn as St. Nicholas' older brother The Holiday - boring chick flick which all girls seem to love. Cameron Diaz & Kate Winslett swap houses at Christmas after man trouble Jack Frost - Michael Keaton comes back from the dead as a snowman to finally be a father to his 12 year old son The Grinch (2000) - Jim Carrey as the green dude who hates Christmas, some funny parts throughout, enjoyed it more on first watch last year.
either missed a few days or left movies off the list

On a Kubrick marathon. Is 2001: A Space Odessey the best film ever made? I don't think I've seen a film with so much depth or subtlety before, although you definitely have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it. I know The Shining is probably my favourite horror/suspense film ever, and A Clockwork Orange is uniquely brilliant. Yet to see Eyes Wide Shut, Full Metal Jacket, or Dr. Strangelove.

Black mass. I literally didn't step into a movie theatre since highlander : endgame .....in 2000. I just realiEd I saw that in a movie thearre before that it was silence of the lambs I gotta say in 15 years since highlander the theatres are much nicer and since 92 there like futuristic. Great movie. By the way. Depp is phenomenal

As much as I like Kubrick's visuals and the unique cinematograhic style of 2001, Clockwork or Full Metal Jacket, my personal favourite will always remain the black and white shot Dr. Strangelove. Peter Sellers is amazing and the dialogue ist quotable from start to finish. Anyone else loves that movie?
