Beady Eye had to make an album in the shadow of one of the best British bands of the past three decades.
Their first album was always, always going to be just that little bit disappointing, simply because it was going to be compared to the Oasis catalogue.
Now that expectations have been suitably lowered and the second album will be compared to the first, as opposed to Oasis (at least not to the same extent), the stage is set for us to be pleasantly surprised by the new album.
God bless.

Definitely, definitely not.
I genuinely don't think there's ANYTHING Beady Eye can do to pick up fans, in the UK anyway. The quality of the releases is pretty inconsequential. I will always buy their records, a lot of people here will always buy their records, but the first week of sales for DG,SS is the best they'll ever do in this country.

It might, Jake Bugg got to Number with 35,000 records sold according to the NME and i think i am right in saying DGSS sold 55,000 copies? Andy said that DGSS was the biggest selling no3 for 10 years or so in the iTunes festival interview, you have to remember Adele was never going to be beaten and Jessie J, a new pop act, released her album that week to. But weren't record sales down in the UK in general last year because of the Olympics? I know Jake Bugg's record was released in October, after the Olympics. But isn't October also usually a slow period because a lot of big acts are waiting closer to the holiday season to release? I don't know. I would be surprised if BDI matched their 66k debut without a "successful" single. And even if you chalk it up to, well they were facing Adele and Jessie J. I mean, if this is released during the summer, then there are going to be a lot of acts releasing albums that are bigger than BDI. As I said, you'd have to hope for a very weak week for them to chart at #1. That's assuming they match their 66k debut. I think the value of the olympics is greatly exagerated, i dont know anyone who spent less money because of it, here in greater manchester, maybe in london it was different, but i very much doubt it. Also Noel and Coldplay realeased albums in october in 2011 so im not sure that it is a slow period, oasis did in 2008 and also Jake Bugg beat Leona Lewis, an x factor winner(?) so im not sure about that. I still think beady have a chance at it, but i think things like this a greatly affected by leaks, which casual fan would pay £10 for something they've had for weeks for free?

I hope it goes to number 1 but the record really needs to be something great. The first one was alright for as Andy had put it "The first record is always a good free pass to wear our influences on our sleeves" I know Liam overhyped Different Gear, Still Speeding to high heaven but now that he got that realist punch in the gut to slow him down, I hope now he and the rest of the band get to expand their horizons. Even if they stay in the 60's they could still start to mine the more experimental acts of the 1960's like Pink Floyd or The Velvet Underground. I don't expect the new album to be Blonde on Blonde or Strange Days but still like I hope Sitek really helps them out with the new directions. If I had an address for their label or management I would send them some Brian Jonestown Massacre records. As long as it isn't synths and sitars and something more challenging to the ear.
