It's a poll, but it deserves to be in this section (I probably made this exact same topic several times over, but this forum is dead so live with the repetition).
IMO, it'll be between West Ryder and Velociraptor on this forum. I feel the former will win out from what I've read, albeit pretty close, but personally I think their 2011 effort is much more consistent.
I mean: Days Are Forgotten, Goodbye Kiss, I Hear Voices, Re-Wind, Man of Simple Pleasures and even Switchblades (which has grown massively on me).....
Either way, I think they are indeed worthy of stadium gigs at this point.
Would be good if responses ranked their 4 albums, too.
Velociraptor West Ryder Kasabian Empire (their Heathen Chemistry.....i.e., very poor)

I went with Velociraptor! It's the most consistent and has the best songs, including Let's Roll Just Like We Used To, which is to me their best song.

Hard to say. Velociraptor is so well produced with many great songs on it but their debut album is also a force to be reckoned with. So many epic tunes (L.S.F., Club Foot, Reason Is Treason, Processed Beats, Test Transmission, Cutt Off). I think what hurt "Empire" was the departure of Chris Karloff who helped with so much of the music on their first album. It still has one of my favorites (Shoot The Runner) on it though.

West Ryder Kasabian Velociraptor! Empire
It's not even up for debate. My word is final.
West Ryder is a masterpiece, it's as good as, if not better than, Morning Glory. Kasabian is mindblowing, especially for a debut. Velociraptor is great, but doesn't live up to WRPLA. Good songs, but it's in the wrong order, and they left the best song to be a B-Side to Days Are Forgotten Empire is good, but it's less of an album, and more a collection of songs... The effect of Karloff's departure is easy to hear.

Definitely their first album. I wish they would make an album like that again.

Never been much of a Kasabian fan. I don't think they're that great, I admire them rather than love them, that said I do own all their albums. There are some cracking tunes, but the best one has to be West Ryder.
I really liked the whole concept. That sort of ambition mixed with quirkiness from big bands these days is so sadly lacking I feel.

nice poll idea...I love Kasabian West Ryder Kasabian Velociraptor! Empire. same. the best is totally West Ryder IMO, first Kasabian album I listened to all the way through. "Fire" is one of my top 5 all-time fave songs. it's just such a cohesive album, I know the songs weren't really written with a theme in mind but it worked out beautifully, you can just imagine the different asylum characters in the songs. there's lots of different styles ("Thick as Thieves" acoustic, "Where Did all the Love Go" retro, "Vlad" kind of punk?!) but there's still a unity to the album that I haven't see a lot. even in Oasis. in spite of being the first "Kasabian" is kind of the album that defines the band best to me. Cutt Off + Butcher Blues = nine minutes of bliss. modern, retro, quirky, experimental, kind of sexy even lol. some of the intros / interludes are a bit too much though, overall just some 'first album' rough edges they've since worked out. Velociraptor! is probably the easiest to listen to if you're not a huge fan, or just listening to singles and not committing to the whole album. the songs are pretty disconnected. some of them are great though - Man of Simple Pleasures and Re-Wired probably my faves (still haven't come around to Switchblades though). breaking the songs apart I might rank Velociraptor! higher but as an album it's third for me. Empire... is an 'okay' album. I like several of the tracks but it just doesn't do a whole lot for me. Except for Shoot the Runner

You all talk about Empire and just mention Shoot the Runner, but... and about The Doberman? Fantastic song, is on my Top 3 of the band. Choose one of their four albuns is a really hard decision. I love them all, but I'll keep with West Ryder. Is a massive album, particularly live.

01 West Ryder 02 Kasabian 03 Velociraptor! 04 Empire
^^As albums/collection of songs go, I'd rank them like that. Favourite song being ''Empire'' - but there's so few really good bands about now that it makes this band come across better than what they really are. Also, Tom Meighan can be very annoying.

The songs like Underdog, Fire or Where Did All The Love Go? are timeless. I'll never get tired of them.

West Ryder clearly winning here. But does anyone think that this is the case because 'you're only as good as you're last album'? sort debate.
It's something that I've always thought is the case when a band releases a poorly received album (Empire) and then follows it up with a much superior one. It's the same with Oasis - Heathen Chemistry for the most part was terrible, but Don't Believe The Truth was heralded as a return to form. Looking at Oasis back catalogue and I don't think Don't Believe The Truth particularly stands out as 'the return to form' that many think of it. It's good, but I don't think it's way better than Be Here Now or Standing on the Shoulders.
Which got me wondering - if Velociraptor was released after Empire, would that be voted 'the best' Kasabian album?

Empire i taught was a pretty good album, glam rocked it up. I always felt with Kasabain they didn't become a fully formed band really until West Ryder. Great Live band which is their biggest strength only Muse are better live imo. Top band with one excellent album in West Ryder and three good ones. They've taken that lad's band of choice when Oasis split.
