Will the new album sound more like Kasabian? That's the impression I get from reading the interviews with Liam and listening a little bit to Sitek productions.

I get the same impression, I would like something like velociraptor, Kasabian with liam's voice would get into another level I hope something like "scorpio rising"

i'm not catching on ... what is LOMAB lol haven't read those interviews yet but comparisons to Velociraptor! wouldn't be a bad thing. I love Kasabian. the biggest weakness of Velociraptor! IMO is the randomness of the styles (I think I've seen Serge describe it as like a jukebox on shuffle lol), I prefer albums to have a more cohesive style/ theme. but a dash of Kasabian's "you might hate it but I bet you've never heard anything like it before" attitude wouldn't hurt BDI, might help modernize their vibe.

Lol in one of the scans, Lay Off My Avacado, Baby was the title Liam had pushed for the album, though he feels it likely won't stick.

I always said Beady Eye should get try and sound like Kasabian - a new modern sound instead of their retro style. I've always thought that with Kasabian beats and a vicious Liam vocal would make for some hellish tunes. I'm no big fan of Kasabian, but I think at this moment they've carved out their own little niche being the only band that sounds like that, and it would do no harm to have another one there. Kids these days seem to love electro influenced music I suppose.
That said, I don't think the new Beady Eye album will sound like Kasabian. Judging from the interviews, I'm getting the sense that there's no electronic equipment being used. I don't know why, but I'm leaning towards the idea that the new album will sound rather ethereal and atmospheric... some hints of Brian Eno and Sigur Ros style ambience in there.

I'm thinking The National (think Fake Emprire) mixed with Blur (think Beetlebum/M.O.R) mixed with Tame Impala (think Soltitude is Bliss).
For an overall sound a bit like Blur's Oily Water, but with instruments. If ya know what I mean.
I don't know how I come up with these.

Ah, okay, thanks! I was a bit worried that Liam actually made that comparison. I like Kasabian, but I think Velociraptor is a weak effort and I think that they think they're a lot weirder than they actually are. Primal Scream did it a whole lot better with Vanishing Point and XTRMNTR.

Do you think that the LOMAB title means actualy anything? I remember Noel stating on the press conference, that Liam picked up some fruit of the table and threw it on him, which was the most intense moment of their break up fight :-) i think Noel said it was a plum, but i guess that would be too small fruit for Liam. It must have been an avokado!!! :-)

Kasabian have a great sound apart from the pretty weak singer so I would be up for this definitely

Fuck I hope not. Their latest album was horrible. Yeh I agree, but I think it was more because of the quality of songs which-barring Days Are Forgotten-was terrible. At least their sound is somewhat modern unlike DGSS

At least their sound is somewhat modern unlike DGSS I agree the last album wasn't that great not on a part with West Ryder or the debut, nor do I think Tom Meighan is a good singer, but Let's Roll is one of their best songs in my opinion.

Huh, it's weird, I think Velociraptor! is their best album so far, and is slightly better than West Ryder. But it would be cool for a Kasabian sounding album

Scorpio Rising is the best recording Liam did in the '00s. Perfectly blended the monumental sound of DYKWIM and the psychedelic sound of late Beatles. A song written for Liam.

Am I the only one not really impressed with Scorpio Rising? It sounds like Pictures of Matchstick Men. I agree with matt, I'm hoping for more of an atmospheric sound.

On a side note.....The L4E Awards may have to be postponed There just aren't enough complete ballots. I've only received 7 complete ballots, and the other 5 that I have are less than half way filled out. I know there are more than 12 regulars who can fill out ballots. There 15-25 regulars who visit regularly enough to fill out ballots. I'm extending voting one for more time. This time for the next 72 hours. If I can't get the ballots to extend them, they may have to be cancelled.
