Last news was that they were still writing and demoing in the studio, Andy also said they have lots of songs. I would expect them to go into the studio after Christmas.

Liam said something about a new album in 2013 - it's best to add at least a year to everything he predicts so expect it in 2014 at the earliest.

No news is good news. Once the boys start talking about an album you can never tell what is utter BS, and what is truth. Every new album is "the best thing we've done in years!" All I care to hear is a release date.

If they brought out a new record and started saying in the press that it wasn't as good as the last record, no one would buy it. Idiot

Idiot Only problem is that Liam told the press DGSS would be the best thing since Definitely Maybe and the best album of the next 50 years. There's a difference between being confident or optimistic and just overselling your stuff - they're not doing anyone a favor with comparisons like these. I also remember Noel saying in an interview that he hadn't even begun writing ...two months later he announced the HFB album.

I tend to agree that no news is good news. Let's see what the new year brings.

Don't think many people took it that seriously, apart from some of the fanboys on here. Along with him also saying "if you like then go fucking buy it, if you don't like it then don't fucking buy it, I don't give a fuck" about every album.

Every band/artist/actor always speaks highly of upcoming releases and projects. It is only natural. Later on down the road you get the truth out of the bands. I always find the interviews done a decade later more fascinating. Take SOTSOG for example. Noel loved it upon release. Watch interviews 3-4 years later. He gives an honest opinion of the record: Good sounds and production, lousy songs.

Actually, I think the fans here are most likely to know that he says that about every album (I think Liam's songs on DBTT were "the best songs in the world" and HC was "just as good as WTSMG"). The music press and casual fans, however, probably don't and are in for a big disappointment. As for bands always hyping their next record, Noel did the opposite with HFB. Even though most fans and critics agree it's his best work in ages, he never said more about it than "I think I've made a good album." And it still sold way more copies than DGSS, because the music was simply better.

It's more along the lines of annoyance and eye rolling. We all know that the album wont be as good or better than Definitely Maybe, nor will it be the best album of the next 50 years or whatever. A little modesty would go a long ways in the public's eyes, especially for someone like Liam.

Actually the British press and general public are generally aware that Liam talks a lot of shit, because he has been doing it for almost 20 years.
