And Liam does have a frail voice these days. It is sad but true. It pops up in rock gigs so I'm sure it would pop up in an acoustic session. It is just my opinion that is why he doesn't want to do it. I could be wrong. See this is thing, none of us have heard Liam sing in an acoustic setting for 4 years now. His voice may suit that kind of surrounding without a wall of noise and a crowd singing as loudly as a normal gig. Liam's voice maybe frail in an actual gig setting on occasion but not anywhere near as much as what people make it out to be on here, especially when most hear him after listening to a YouTube recording that does him (or any artist for that matter) no justice. I will admit sometimes he can make you cringe when he shouts rather than sings and he has to pronounce his words properly instead of cutting himself off like he does but I think, in my opinion, he could carry out an acoustic gig no problem as it is a softer setting. I'm all for Beady Eye doing an acoustic gig or session. I want Liam to pull it off extremely well. At the start of the US tour in June 2011, Liam sounded great. Best I heard from him in a long long time. Better than DOYS tour and DBTT. However, when the world tour ended in December 2011, I caught the band for a third time at Terminal 5 in NYC. Liam was dreadful all night long. He sounded good on FLW and other rockers but the slower stuff was brutal. They even cut playing two songs from the setlist because of it (Across The Universe and World Outside My Room). I chalk this performance up to end of the tour fatigue. I was mostly pleased with Liam's voice in 2011. Keep it coming boys. |

He has still got some voice left because he's put some brilliant vocals on record recently, like I'm Outta' Time which was one of the best vocal he's done in years imo. You could say it was touched up in the studio and no doubt it was but its still a great vocal and he did a pretty decent acoustic version for a radio station. Thats a fairly difficult song for Liam to sing especially compared to some Beady Eye stuff like The Morning Son. I don't see why he couldn't do it but whether or not he sounds good or not you just can't say with Liam, he's said himself in the past, some nights his voice is either there or its not its very inconsistent but since he's had a long time off from a real gig the chances that his voice could be pretty decent are pretty good

The acapella version of Soldier On sounds amazing. And to my ears it doesn't sound altered.

2011 was Liam's best year for live vocals since 2002 as far as I'm concerned, so why do people think he's unable to perform a 40 minute set acoustically when he sung well acoustically in 2005 when it was arguably his worst year vocally live?
He'd smash it.

Liam has always been better in smaller gigs where he doesn't feel the need to shout as much. His voice is very weak these days so he always sounds a bit off when he tries to belt out the songs, but he can still sing well in the right environment. He'd definitely be able to pull off an acoustic set (with the right choice of songs).

So I know Liams voice is damaged due to many reasons and will never return fully, but has he litteraly just forgotten to sing? In 93 to 94 Is actual singing you can hear it very well in the demos proper breath support and using chest voice. As soon as WTS hit, its all shouting from throat which we all know. Now adays it isnt so much shouting but when I hear Liam sing it sounds like hes litteraly just singing without breathing, the drugs, smoking, I know I know but it sounds more like I dont know how to use my vocals anymore more than "smoking ruined my voice" which did no doubt damage but theres more to it.
Live he seems so concentrated on pulling in breath to sing probably out of habit and paranoia of running out and sounding bad. but singing with full breath every 4 words can sound weird and forced. Liam can probably hold a note longer then he thinks despite his smoker lungs
He sounds healthy talking in interviews. Many other artists who have lost their singing voice, have also have had a regular talking voice change. Liam voice just sounds deeper which obviously comes with getting older but nothing more than that.

He sounded awesome, better than I wouldve expected. all the fashion designers/labels are playing acoustic sets, duh. God bless. you had me going for a minute lol. It would be interesting to see what Liam would do with an acoustic gig though, I hope he does Songbird again some time. that's his song for Nic doesn't have a thing to do with Noel/Oasis, might help soften Beady Eye's image a bit. I mean, not that Bring the Light isn't hot lol but a pretty love song would be nice too |
