So we already know that the boys will be in the studio before long to start work on a second album - what are we expecting?
Personally I fucking loved DGSS but it wore a bit thin after a while; notably after Noel Gallagher and Kasabian released better albums. That being said I am expecting a fucking full on rock and roll album - something a little bit similar to Be Here Now. I say this for two reasons 1) Liam has gone on record and said he loves that record and 2) Because it is very Beady Eye - not exactly a masterpiece but something Rock n Roll and loud. N.B. I am not saying that it will be anything like be Here Now - instead I mean it will be loud and guitar heavy.
I am also hoping that we get more songs from Liam than the others (as was the same with DGSS) simply because he is now a fucking great song writer and can com up with some biiiiig tunes. Would also like to see Jeff Wootton write some if he i now a permanent member (though, I doubt this will happen)
What do you expect / hope from it?

Hoping for more rockier, heavier songs, some decent bass lines too and to work on their lyrics a bit more. I think they could do an album in the style of The Faces.
If they are going to do more mid-tempo then make it like In a Bubble style, please no more The Beat Goes On / Millionaire.

Liam mentioned something about All Things Must Pass and that he liked the Spector sound. Anyway, I wouldn't mind better lyrics and some catchy heavy riffs.
And 10 tracks max.

More rockers, but good rockers like FLW, not those BAS crap.
And more popy songs like The roller or Bullet. Love The world's not set in stone. And no more 60's sound, they don't need it, they have their sound.
And some anthems with big chorus could be nice too, they missed that on their first album, and it was too long.

I hope for what you expect, I'm not sure what I expect though, tbh I absolutely love be here now, the guitars are something I love about oasis. I expect to love at least one of Liam's songs I always do, I just hope the others aren't too bad eg. Bring The Light... I think liams got a good sense of melody as well. Gems a great guitarist so he'll do something quite interesting I hope he writes a few great guitar solos and Andy wrote four letter word last time so, if he can do something like that again that'd be great...

For me it has to be a more straightforward album. Less length (both song wise and track wise), less fluff (stick to what you know leave the extra instruments out of it.), more consistency between tracks.
I'd be happy with that. DGSS didn't really sound like an album of tracks that reflect the artist at all imo. It was WAY too art schoolish for my taste.

Wow, I've never thought about it like that, but that really makes sense, looking at it DGSS really doesn't represent what I think of BDI. However, I disagree on extra instruments, I love hearing unusual instruments in rock songs. That means real instruments and real players, not fucking vacuum cleaners though. I'd also love their rockier songs to be more like Supersonic - Columbia - Fade In/Out than Four Letter Word And I'd love a Be Here Now part 2, assuming it was as good as the original

I am also hoping for more FLW type songs. I hope you are right about it being more guitar heavy. Something that makes up in attitude (which BDI have in spades) for whatever they are less strong in. DGSS is pretty fresh sounding. It sounds more spontaneous than any recent Oasis album or Noel album. I hope they continue that way...just with a bit more attitude and energy.
Totally disagree about getting more Liam and less Andy and Gem though. Liam is good for a good ballad or 2...but I've not been THAT impressed with his rockers. Hoping for a more Liam heavy album seems contradictory towards hoping for a rockier album.
I don't think Liam is sitting on a bunch of blinding songs but having to leave them off for Andy and Gem. Plus I think Andy and Gem deserve a large helping of praise for the success of any of Liam songs because I don't believe he develops them alone.
Andy, though hit or miss on DGSS, wrote their BEST rock song in FLW. And Gem is capable of more IMO.
Mostly I hope that they start helping each other out more. So that one day we won't listen to the album and here that obviously it's a Liam or Andy or Gem tune. They all have their strengths but I don't think any of them are the while package. They all have their moments.
I think I'd be great if Andy and Gem write an instrumental and gave it to Liam for him to develop a melody then they all collaborate on the words to fit the melody.

The new album will definitely need more Four Letter Words and less The Beat Goes Ons. They need that sinister guitar edge and sneering vocal delivery out of Liam for the most part.

More Four Letter Words and less Roller/Kill For A Dream/The Beat Goes On stuff would do nicely.
Whatever it is I hope they take their time and release the best possible thing they could release.

More disted guitars and abit more raw production, DGSS was way to polished. I'm thinking Turn Up The Sun, that sound would fit them.

AND NO ONE NEEDS MORE "KILL FOR A DREAM" OR "WORLDS NOT SET IN STONE"-esk songs. boooooooooring. i know they could do better than this

More rock (4LW), less goop (TBGO, KFAD). But, admittedly, some of the worst songs on DGSS were rockers (BAS and SOTEOTN). I think the problem it that they're aping the Stones and the Who, which isn't their forte. They should channel the punk energy of the early Oasis records (Headshrinker/Fade Away/Bring It ON Down), as they did on 4LW. That would be exciting... Agreed, they need the raw sound, punk energy rather than this 60's sound that makes them generic.

It also needs to be no more than 11 tracks in length. DGSS was way too long. A couple of duds in there (Kill For A Dream, The Beat Goes On). They are paint by number rock tunes. Boring stuff. Need rockers!

apparently all above posts have tomlivesforever's approval since he hasn't whined about any non-glowing comments or unapologetically defended BDI. and that's all that really matters.

I dont understand all the flak some people have given DGSS. I think it is kick ass. Now, I will say, I absolutely love Noel live and the songs on his album are great, obviously, but his album ive only listened to 4 or 5 times because it just seems boring to me. Now, BDI's album I think is very exciting musically and I loved the variety on it and I still listen to it monthly. Hopefully the 2nd album will be as good, if not better than the first

As much as I agree with you lot about heavier songs, I don't think the band is going to please us with that. Guess 'World's Not Set In Stone' and 'In The Bubble...' kinda show which direction they're going to. Being realistic, I expect kinda the same as DGSS in terms of genre: a mix of mid-tempo songs and some rockier ones. I would hope though that they get a little bit more experimental and kinda dreamy, that would be good, kinda have Wigwam as a stepping-stone.
If I got to choose though, I've always wanted Liam to go kinda 'Scorpio Rising'. Rockier, groovier songs with some electronic tinges. One can dream.
