Slide Away > Live Forever You've just caused a very heated internal conflict in me I've always preferred Live Forever but Slide Away is so fucking good Don't get me wrong Live Forever is an all time classic. Some consider it Oasis' best, I don't. Maybe its because I covered it in a band and I've just heard it so much, but I just feel Slide Away is better. Slide Away is a top 5 tune for Oasis for me. Not trying to take anything from Live Forever, but Slide Away just hits you. If you understand the context under which Noel wrote it, and the all time great vocal by Liam, its just becomes a really really powerful song. It really adds a personal depth and emotion to Definitely Maybe. Married With Children offers a nice contrast to it, because this is a really tough song to follow.

Please hear me out on this, I despise the Tories... but I must admit I do like Michael Portillo. As Tories go, and knowing that he was one of the influences for Enflield's Tory Boy character, he doesn't actually seem that bad. But you have to wonder whether part of that doesn't come from him sitting next to the atrocious Diane Abbot for so long on This Week, anyone would look tolerable compared to that woman.

Well he was voted out of parliament in 1997 when I was 6, so hasn't been an MP since then so my memories of him are contemporary rather than any knowledge of his time as a politician, but he does talk some sense on This Week, and he isn't scared of laying the boot into Cameron. And I like his train documentaries. But yes, Abbott is appalling and I can't imagine why BBC would employ her as the left wing voice on that show.

Imagine by John Lennon is a shite song. A saccharine, hypocritical lump of shite.

Imagine by John Lennon is a shite song. A saccharine, hypocritical lump of shite. Yeah but, no Imagine no DLBIA, right? Haha, well I don't buy into the fact it is 'inspired' by Imagine. The two piano notes at the beginning? Yes perhaps, but after that, the songs are nothing alike. I don't think Noel wrote Don't Look Back In Anger with the intention of making it sound like John Lennon or The Beatles. By accepting this, we run into the same old tired argument that Oasis were just merely Beatles rip offs, when in reality, Noel's musical influences are much more diverse and eclectic than we give him credit for. In fact, DLBIA owes more to David Bowie and All The Young Dudes personally. Noel wouldn't be the great songwriter he is without the vast range of musical taste. If his tastes were narrow, his songwriting craft would be very limited.

Four Letter Word sounds forced in the chorus and that "Four letter word really gets my meaning, nothing ever lasts forever" part is such an Oasis pastiche & just doesn't sound right.

December 31, 2015. 17 Golden sulkies, one legend. Can they give Jean Michel Bazire the podium this time? After all they did give him a literal Golden sulky last year:

Thanks for confirming what I've thought about that song for ages and thought it was just me. At parts of that song liam sounds like he needs to take a shit...

At parts of that song liam sounds like he needs to take a shit...It's an obscure fact that a couple of pounds of DGSS recording costs was spent at St Johns Wood tube station toilets half a mile from RAK Studios, where Liam professionally kept to the recording schedule from a different type of booth whilst recording Four Letter Words vocals and regretting the dodgy Balti from the previous evening

Look at the posts on the first page Then look at the posts on the previous page And note the difference in tone. You know I actually did what you said. And see the the difference so in the spirit of the original idea I am a very complicated person I say things I always regret , but I speak the truth I am a degenerate gambler, i can't hold a relationship longer than 4 years , well 4 plus I am a alcoholic. Who honestly does not want to be cured , I love my life I'm a dreamer I believe in hitting first and asking questions when the the other guy is looking for his teeth like my dad taught me . I will never regret the relationships I blew ,at least I had them i will always regret "Irish " buying that phone that busted us ...... If she never did my life would be so different , but she had to save her family and sacrifice me. Rebecca " IRISH " your the one who got away ......and I settled for a sloppy second. Never again i don't want to change ....I love my lifestyle ..........there I said it. And that is in the vain the thread was meant

I don't understand how people working in and around 99% of sports don't bore themselves to death. Is there a point where they wake up and realise "I've spent the last 20 years - about a quarter of the time I have to experience this universe and planet before I return to the eternal nothingness from whence I came - analysing in depth how some people kick a ball around a field"?

Well you can say that for 90% of jobs out there unfortunately.
