I've finally heard that Catfish and the Bottlemen album today.
I can't say that it was shit or that I didn't like it at all. It's just nothing special, really. The band hasn't got a memorable sound, the singer hasn't got a unique voice and more importantly the songs are pretty average.
I liked Kathleen, Sidewinder and Tyrants, but the rest is a bit plain. It feels like I've heard songs like those ones from other five-six other Indie bands already.

This thread was a lot better when it just involved members embarrassing stories...
I think there's actually a Catfish and Bottlemen thread...
When I was about 20, I went back to my hometown to visit and took some acid and was driving around reminiscing and people kept waving and honking their horns at me and I just thought they were happy to see me.
Turns out I just didn't have my headlights on and everyone was trying to let me know.
Oops...
Thanks.

Oasis - Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants - Album Artwork The SOTSOG cover seems to be a relatively popular one on this forum, but I've always found it poor in all honesty.
Whose bright idea was it to take a photograph of 'the New York skyline centred around the Empire State Building'? Give me a break... could that be an any more obvious or amateur idea? It's the equivalent of taking a photo of Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower. Not only that but it's near enough the exact same view as available on top of the Rockefeller Centre, one of the biggest tourist views, in one of the biggest tourist visited cities in the world. It's the equivalent of giving a middle school student the job... and the cross faded morning/day/night layers job (probably the most interesting thing about the entire image) isn't exactly light years ahead of them.
The less said about the Oasis 2.0 logo the better. Dated much?
It can only be described as looking like a one dollar postcard, sobbing under a typographic mudslide. Rubbish.

Catfish is just another NME hyped band that they are using to sell papers because young lads/gals like them and the frontman has "swagger". Flavor of the month, but its really just the same old mediocre bangers and mash. Brits get so riled up about these bands it is honestly pretty funny. This phenomena doesn't happen in America, certainly not as frequently. Like every two years a new one comes, its like clockwork. Courtneers! The Enemy! Brother! Vaccines! and now this. If they inspire people to get into music that's positive but not if it only breeds more mediocrity to rock n' roll. Maybe as the biggest music market in the world (and a huge western/ english speaking population) if the u.s did try a drag though new acts like bbc introducing, sound of 201x year, the nme fav indie band instead etc etc..The worlds music scene would look better. i find it funny that that you find it funny that brits get riled up by these young bands coming through, good for us.. Where as the biggest market in the world doesnt seem to do a lot but support anything thats not a pure marketable pop band .. Thats whats breeding mediocrity US doesn't hype up bands because if you're a (rock n' roll or indie) band based out of the US you have to go out and work for it by touring, not saying Brit's don't but we don't have a magazine like the NME that props up mediocre bands like Brother before they even make there first album, instead we get shitty neo political magazines like the ever so bad Rolling Stone. Take for instance a band like Future Islands, they've been around for 9 years and are just now starting to get hype and press because of their forth album. Sure this is the case for a lot of bands around the world, but in my experience the Brits seem much more susceptible to tabloid hype than America because y'all are so much smaller. I don't see how America's lack of support is any different than any other country. Your radio station probably plays 65-75% of what I hear here, maybe a few track catch on over there quicker and vice versa. We have city scenes in NYC, LA, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, New Orleans, Austin and they all have cult bands, its just harder to grab attention in America because we probably have more music/noise to sift through. (this isn't necessarily a good thing. ex: late on Hendrix). With regard to getting "good bands" on the radio, I mean the industry is always in flux with whats "in" and what is "out," but it is a business and pop will always rule because it makes the most $$$ and considering US is the biggest market in the world its likely to stay that way. It just seems like there's a niche in Britain where mediocre indie rock is celebrated. Looking at it now, Catfish & the Bottlemen aren't even indie, they're signed to Island. Not that it matters in terms of quality of music, but I promise you they got some corporate $ their PR and that's why they've gotten a lot of press, especially initially on (and the fact they are actually decently big in the UK). No "cult" band sells out arena's in 30 mins. Attractive swagger frontman for the ladiezz, playing meat and potatoes and beer chuggin rock n' roll for the ladz. Seems like the they are trying to market off a generation that hasn't seen good rock n' roll in a minute. Using your words, "pure marketable pop band .. Thats whats breeding mediocrity".

Once at a festival I partied a little too hard, a little too early, and mid-afternoon needed to vomit. A lot. Unfortunately my body gave me short notice of this fact and so I had to just go for it right there in the middle of a field full of thousands of people.
To help me out a kind gentleman came over, sat on me and then rode me. Rode me like a horse.
There. I said it.

I think anyone who actively supports Donald Trump's bid for presidency should have their voting rights taken away from them.

What scares me isn't that these people might have power, which I don't believe they would even they were elected, but that there is a significant portion of the population who would vote for them under the assumption they would have power.

Did you see that article by some American paper a few months back expressing their shock that Francis Bean Cobain prefers Oasis to Nirvana? The headline was something like "Francis Bean Cobain doesn't like Nirvana but she DOES like Oasis!" like Oasis are Duran Duran or something. Bugger off. Give me The Masterplan over a Nirvana album any day.

Personally I'd vote Cthulu if I was a US resident, why choose the lesser evil? The person behind Deez Nuts is 15 years old—and threw his support behind Bernie Sanders. Wow. That was a very strange sentence. Either way, I support Bernie Sanders.
