I just hope for his own sake his vocals are good... the media will rip right into anyone who doesn't sound good tonight. Wonderwall isn't the most difficult song in the Oasis catalogue, if he's actually prepared for it this time round as he hasn't sang it in ages... then all should go smoothly. If he gets 80,000 singing it then he'll grab the headlines.
Yesterday the song came over the PA before they presented Mo Farah his medal and the stadium was rocking.

i bet they check this out once in a while. webm@ster said they're aware of the forum, anyway. God bless. How does webm@ster know they're aware of the forum? Just curious... i'm not sure exactly how webm@ster is keen to this info but i do know webm@ster doesn't doesn't come on here spreading bullshit gossip. i know he's met and interviewed Liam. maybe that's how he knows, i don't know. and in this day and age, with the internet everywhere and such...and just imagine having a place completely and specifically about you, you'd probably be aware of it. think about it.

For anyone who thinks tonights performance will be mimed: "The Spice Girls will appear atop black London taxi cabs, and Gavin said all of the artists would sing live. There will be no stage at one end of the stadium, but instead the big-name acts will be picked out from among the 4,100 performers by dramatic lighting". sports.myjoyonline.com/pages/news/201208/91965.php

Everyone is reporting he is doing it tonight, just a bit weird that there has been no official announcement from their Facebook page or whatever.

What does everyone think this new arrangement will be? I'll go for electric instead of acoustic

Probably just for the band though I would bet that Liam is gonna be singing live and everyone else will be miming to a backing track. Easy to soundcheck a couple dozen mics

I don't think much will be said either way about the performances, the press will be focused on the occasion. As long as Liam doesn't give it the big'un and act like a cock I don't really think they'll get much coverage. Different circumstances I know, but Paul McCartney was horrific at the opening ceremony

Hi, could anybody please tell me if the Beady Eye performance (or just Liam?) tonight will be a part of the main event (the closing ceremony), or on one of those concerts like Blur is having at Hyde Park?
Thanks.

They said artists cant sing live at these events but no one mimed in the opening ceremony

They said artists cant sing live at these events but no one mimed in the opening ceremony Read it again. He said that everyone would be SINGING live...not that the bands would be playing their instruments live. And The Who didn't actually specifically talk about singing. They said they had prepared a piece of music for the opening ceremonies. That they could do it live but there were too many technical difficulties. Then they said something about people like Madge not being able to do it live. But it's entirely possible that they were talking about recreating one of her backing tracks live not her singing live. Find it hard to believe that The Who got confused and randomly recorded a backing track if they weren't going to use it. People lie to say that they are doing something live when they aren't. people don't usually lie to say that they will be miming when they'll be doing it live. Actually it sounds from that quote like it might only be Liam up there and the rest of the band might not even be there. On the Sun article it was Liam Gallagher not Beady listed.

But everyone played live at the opening ceremony, so why not at the closing ceremony? It's in the same venue? We'll see anyway in 3 hours Hope Liam's not the only one but it could be possible. Pretty sure Liam's name will be announced separately, even if he is playing with Beady Eye because Liam Gallagher is far more well known. Think I'm looking forward to Del and Rodney more than Liam :DD

The Who miming?! I doubt it. Wasn't required for The Superbowl 2010. I don't think they have done that since the 60's!
George Michael & Liam on the same bill?! 1st time for everything I guess!
I am looking forward to the whole event though I still yhink it could be cheesy.
BE will look cool no doubt man!

Can't see Liam performing on his own with session musicians, although from the various online reports it does seem that way... Maybe it will be Beady Eye billed as Liam Gallagher

Sound checking 1 band for a stadium gig would be a piece of cake even if it is the Super Bowl. Sound checking a dozen different artists for one song each is a much different. We'll see later tonight.

But what about the queen's jubile? that was loads of different artists and no one mimed/used backing tracks. Also the likes of the brit awards, mtv awards, royal variety etc. If they do mime or use backing tracks then that's not really a valid reason for it.

It'll be live singing to a pre-recorded backing track. Bands played live at the opening ceremony because there was nothing on in the stadium beforehand. No time to soundcheck before the closing ceremony.
