Pretty cringeworthy imo, Liam bein' the frontman to his own tribute band last nite! Any chance of Beady Eye standin' on their own feet instead on relyin' on Oasis songs. This is exactly the sort of thing Liam would slaag other bands for. I've lost a lot of respect for Liam & his Beady Eye bandmates who seem to just toe the line with Liam. Please nobody bite! Each to their own.

It's not about beady eye though, it's about oasis and them being represented at the London Olympics because that opportunity will likely never happen again. Noel turned it down so someone so Liam had to do it. As an oasis fan I think it's great that everyone hears oasis one way or another

The beat goes on? nevermind those people really. even hardcore noels fans are happy with the performance. it's the first time I see the board so agree on something. I'm just curious how BDI's performance have been reviewed in america?

I don't see how any fan of Oasis could dislike that performance that last night, was something special about it like others have said.

So maybe, that should tell you...Also, all of my non or semi-Oasis fans said it was a highlight of the closing ceremony for them.

It was definitely special, Liam's vocal could have been a lot better though so if your lookin for excuses to call it (like a lot of people on twitter and Facebook) there are plenty but if you just want to watch and enjoy it you'll see that Liam was trying his best which is good for oasis fans I think

Definitely I think BDI were helped by the fact that barring, Lennon, queen, madness and a few others, the ceremony was pretty awful really

Last nights performance has injected life into L4E, thats for sure... As fans mad enough to join L4E, we have an insatiable thirst for all things Oasis. Last night was about Oasis representing an entire country in front of the world. That's pretty special, right?

"Out of tune and off key" regarding Liam
I mean thats harsh...to me he was fine and hes a rock star not a auto-tune pop fag

madness:-) like when new albums are coming out:-) anyway, i still dont see, why are there people complaining about the performance on this forum:-) and to those who dont like Liam did Wonderwall without Noel - yeah, but look how Wish you were here ended - some ginger freak sung it instead of Roger and Dave, would you be happy to see i dont know Zack Efron or some other strange guy to sing it instead of Liam? Oh and it is Liam who made the song (dont mean "wrote", i mean he gave it balls), so please just enjoy the moment and stop the nonsence.

Just watched the Who, they were on great form also. but there's a few thing I don't quite understand about this ceremony : who the hell invited one direction ? Why the hell though "hey let's ask russel brand to cover I am the walrus, what a great idea", why the hell though "hey we'll ask G Michael to sing his new single, what a great idea" The rest was ok, the highlights were obvisouly BDI, ray davies, The Who, I also liked the Pet Shop Boys and fatboy slim. The spice girls made me laugh, in a good way. Love the monty pythons.

That's true. As fans, we know that Liam had one of his better nights last night. But to be fair, the majority of people watching weren't Liam fans. So you can't really expect everyone to be happy with his vocals. If some shitbag two bit popstar sang like Liam, I'd probably lay into them too.

It was in tune and it was on key. It was just weak and nervy. Sadly it was the sound of a man who knows he can't sing in tune with the power that made him famous any more.
Honestly, it did sound like a pretty average Oasis tribute. Liam should've insisted on Morning Glory and given a proper representation of what he's about.

Loved seeing Beady Eye/Liam Gallagher at the closing ceremony! His voice was the best it's been in years. But I can't objectively say that it was brilliant vocally. When I first only heard the audio file I noticed that he starts off key, and even though he recovers towards the end (he even really "nails" some parts of the song towards the end) something just didn't felt right (no, I'm not alluding towards the fact that Noel wasn't there ;-)) He obviously tried really hard, cudos to Liam for actually "singing" the whole song rather than shouting. But I got the feeling that he sang (especially at the beginning) the whole song 1/10th of a tone off key, if that makes any sense. And it was really nasal of course, but that's just Liam I guess... Btw I didn't knew they still played Wonderwall with a capo on the second fret. I assumed there would've been a change of key in the course of years.
But then I saw the video... The band and Liam are looking amazing, them playing in the Olympic stadium is really impressing. And the whole picture (the crowd waving/singing, the atmosphere,...) is really great, the fact that Liam isn't sounding the same as 15 years ago doesn't change all that!

This coming from the person who gets pissed at people who let him give his opinion. It's a forum. If people thought he was nasally or didn't want his doing it, then that's their right. There's no reason to say that someone isn't a true fan because they have a varying opinion. It's that person's right to like or dislike whatever they want. That's part of being a fan. Please stop being a hypocrite.

Wonderwall isn't really a song that needs power though is it? Like you said, Morning Glory is one of the songs where he does need to go for it, I'm glad he took a soft approach with Wonderwall last night. He sounded very nervous the first half of the song but once he got in to it the second half was great!

listen to some people
Nervous and Liam Gallagher dont go in the same sentence
If they really wanted to make it 100% perfect they would have pre-recorded the vocals
whats this talk of nasally..for god sake its Liam Gallagher

I'm one of Liam's biggest fans but even I could tell he was nervous at the start of the song, it's only natural when you are about to perform in front of millions across the world, as I said though, once he got in to it he sounded fantastic.

Wonderwall has always been a good live song for Liam because as you said, it doesn't require much power. Also it's a song where he can pace himself.
