Liam sounded decent.
How come they didn't play The Roller though?

Don't worry about the haters on social media. It's not like Liam was the only recipient. Plenty slagging Annie Lennox, McCartney, George Michael, Russell Brand. Sign of the times.

Twitter: "Absolute privilege an honour to perform at the Olympics... LG" My opinion of Liam has gone up tonight. He often comes across as aloof but tonight seemed to genuinely mean something to him. It's nice to see that side of him.

I'll give this a proper listen in the morning where I can have it blasted out, but on first listen I thought it was bobbins and I usually stick up for Liam even on bad day.

For some reason, Liam's reception seemed X10 times worse. Maybe because I was on twitter and facebook, but that was a lot venom showed toward him. More than the usual.

The hate for Liam is completely ridiculous.

The hate for Liam is completely ridiculous. I remember going onto the Guardian website after the opening ceremony, McCartney got destroyed in their comments section. People on the internet are often complete and utter dicks. Even though I try not to be, I'm more of an asshole online than I am real life. Musicians have gotta have a thick skin these days.

It hasn't aired here in the U.S but I couldn't help having a listen (49 minutes into the Closing Ceremonies and not a performance one! just a lot of fucking athletic reminiscing). The beginning didn't offend me all that much, but seeing as I'm a hardened Liam and Bob Dylan listener, vocals don't bother really bother me. I've heard much worse.
From the second verse onward, Liam was as top as we could have expected him to be. I don't have much else to add...I've become numb to the song personally and hearing another performance of it doesn't really "do" much for me. I applaud the scope and size of the audience he was performing to as well as him having the balls to do such knowing that he would get a lot of shit for it.
You can't please everybody and I doubt Liam gives two fucks either way what Twitter thought of his performance. He sang for his country, the world, and has made history yet again.
Most importantly, the crowd was having a blast.

A lot of people view him as a mean person so, given the chance to kick him, they kick harder than usual.

I'd listen to Kermit Liam above any Idolist any day of the week. He's earned his success and the deterioration of his voice humanizes him much more than the plastic, autotuned pop shit the world has come to love.
History repeats itself...seems like we're stuck in the sticky late eighties again music wise.

It is very different to listening to the album version though, so I can see where some of the criticism is coming from. Might have been better to pre-record Liam's vocal so that it was a bit smoother and bill them as "Beady Eye featuring Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell, formerly of Oasis." Still, the performance was one of the best Wonderwalls since 2000.

BBC News on the closing ceremony - Acts included Take That, George Michael, Spice Girls, Oasis.
At least get it right.

She's a c-list celebrity at best and is hardly known outside of the UK.

It was embarrassing to represent as Beady Eye and play that Song. Just sad...

To be fair Jessie J is actually a far better singer than I thought she was. But it was a bizarre decision to put her with Queen.
