Hey guys I've been really trying to catch this for a while now... I know Oasis as a band was compared heavily to The Beatles but does any one know the exact year when the media press started comparing Liam Gallagher to John Lennon?

Vocally from the start his voice was said to be a mix of Lennon and John Lydon and then around 95/96 when he grew his hair and started wearing the Lennon shades.

The whole comparison understandably became a joke with I'm Outta Time, along with the other shite Beatles rip offs (To Be Where There's Life and Nature of Reality) from Dig Out Your Soul.

Early Oasis, never sounder that much like the beatles, maybe it started creeping in on a few MG songs and Whatever. It was mainily down to their similar haircuts-fashion and oasis always banging on about how much they loved the beatles

Fo TBWTL its just a sitar drone so not really a rip off, but the piano on Im Outta Time is a lot like Jealous Guy and then there's that Helter Skeler-esque guitar part thats played through out TNOR

I can't really couldn't hear it that much myself with the exception of HC and DBTT, listen to Instant Karma or Gimme Some Truth and you'll see what I mean, but even then it struck me as Lennon-esque rather than him trying to sing like Lennon

Turn Up The Sun is the only good song to come out of the sack of sh*t songwriting trio that is LAG I'm Outta' Time Born On A Different Cloud Songbird Hung In A Bad Place Boy With The Blues Keep The Dream Alive Four Letter Word The Roller In The Bubble With A Bullet Turn Up The Sun The Morning Son A Bell Will Ring All good songs so open up your ears and stop being such a Noel-fanboy, sure Noely G is a far superior songwriter to the three of them but to say LAG has only produced 1 good song between them is rediculous

Songbird is a good song. But the rest of the songs on that list...utter dogshite. LAG are only capable of writing songs which are just plain gay or Beatles rip offs. Who the f*ck still listens to Hung in a Bad Place? That song was crap a decade ago, still is.

Four Letter Word is a tune and theres nothing gay about it at all, straight up rock n roll. if you can't take that and would prefer to listen to What A Life, a song that pretends to be quite up-lifting but is in fact another mid-tempo song with little guitar then thats your choice, I'm not going to ridicule you for that, I just don't agree that as a generalisation, all LAG songs are "gay"

Do you ever choose to listen to it specifically? I know music is a matter of taste, but it amazes me how people can sit through something so insipid and banal. And that goes for many LAG songs (and some Noel songs). I've listened to Nature of Reality once, hated it ever since.

I really don't mind Hung In A bad Place, in fact I listened to it a couple of days back, I'll never listen to Nature Of Reality again though. I'll listen to most Oasis songs apart from a select few, Nature Of Reality, Mucky Fingers, Little James, High Horse Lady, Fade In-Out and a couple of others

"Love You To"

In related news: British guy (Liam) sings and sounds like another British guy (Lennon).
I really don't get why this is an issue. Lennon is considered one of the best and shouldn't great artists want to mimic the best in their music? As Noel has said countless times, "You can only play what you have come to know through listening to great music."
