Poor UK gymnastics team. would have been awesome if their first team medal in a century had been a silver! Would've felt really bad for Kohei Uchimura though. Poor guy looked like his world had crashed around his ears when he botched his dismount. He's had a tough Olympic run. I also didn't know that synchronized diving existed before yesterday. It was actually really cool to watch. The Chinese are astonishing at that!

I mean no disrespect to the achievements of the British men's gymnastics team, but this was a really weak year for men's gymnastics across the world. Stalwart gymnastics country's like Romania, Ukraine, Russia were all pitiful this year for whatever reason. If the US could swing even half way decent pommel horse they would have been 2nd easily, and they are not that good either.
I am a former gymnast and certified judge, so I am not just speaking out my arse about the subject. The whole competition came off quite understated to me. China was strong as usual, but everyone else was a disappointment. As for Britain, they better enjoy it, because Britain finishing 3rd at the Olympics is an embarrassment to everyone who finished behind them.
Dont get me wrong, I still watched every minute I could, but the competition was weak to say the least. No team should ever win by 4 points, and then the US women win by 5 points, disgraceful! The 2008 Olympic women's team was better than this years and they took 2nd. Incredible.
the gymnastics community should be ashamed of the lack of good competition internationally this year. It has to be one of the weakest Olympic fields I've ever seen.
That said Kristian Thomas' vault was EPIC! Well done.

most people will have forgotten the gymnastics medal once we have a couple of golds, which we should get tomorrow in the rowing and hopefully in the cycling time trials. We know we are often poor in gymnastics this is our first medal in 100 years.

I think it shows a lack of class to say that the other teams should be 'embarrassed' by Britain finishing 3rd. They are much improved as a team and performed out of their skin. The Olympics always throws up a surprise or two that is why its so great aside from that a lot of money has been put in to the gymnastics setup and we are seeing the fruits of that labor. Your team flopped but they are young and i wouldn't be surprised if they got a gold at the next one. No need to put GB down really though.

Watching the US Basketball team winning at a canter even if they aren't actually playing that well and during HT they had the crowd singing along to Oasis. Dont think I need to say what the song was though. It's been played at quite a few events when there has been a bit of a pause in play.

Your team flopped but they are young and i wouldn't be surprised if they got a gold at the next one. No need to put GB down really though. First of all, I don't really care if the US flops or not. What I want is a competition that is competitive, not a blow out. Go look up the scored from 2008 and 2012 . . . Britain's 3rd place finish of 271 would be 8th in 2008, and the US women who won would have been 3rd in 2008. My point is that the level of gymnastics has declined slightly since 2008, thats all. And don't give me this "the rules have gotten harder" bull, because it simply is not true. The rules are basically the same as 2008. I am happy for the success of anyone at an olympic level, but this year is a bit down is all. The routines were great, but the overall level of skills was down. No biggy. It'll come back in four years.

we as a world need to make sure China doesn't win the Olympics or have the most medals, whatever the proper term is.
the u.s.a's guaranteed at least one more medal in basketball. some of you other country's need to do your part.
God bless.

Phelps in our face Eva #21 I demand a drug test His breakfast is his only drug: Michael Phelps recommended calorie intake is 8,000 to 10,000 calories. His typical breakfast order from Pete's Grille in Baltimore, Maryland, as is recounted in Phelps' autobiography Beneath the Surface: "Start with three sandwiches of fried eggs, cheese, lettuce, tomato, fried onions, and mayonnaise; add one omelet, a bowl of grits, and three slices of French toast with powdered sugar; then wash down with three chocolate chip pancakes."

The Olympics are just so addicting. Fourth straight where I've just been glued to the television.
