Imagine how ungodly amazing DM would be with MG-BHN era Liam singing on it instead. I know, even if Liam sounds great on DM (especiall on Slide Away); there's some song that I prefer to listen live during th MG tour just because of the raspy tone.

Still say Some Might Say and Whatever are the magic point for Liams voice, he never sounded better than he did during that period.

You could argue his best vocals were in 94 from a range and technical standpoint. His voice sounded better after a few years just because it wasn't as high and he developed that raspiness that's just awesome. But in the early days he could sing the falsetto parts and just generally hit higher notes so there was definitely some decline along the way. We tend to agree that his vocal peak was 96-98 as a vast majority seem to prefer his voice from then, but he already couldn't actually sing like he had just a few years prior. Yeah from a technical standpoint you are absolutely right. It might be just me but I take everything to together when I consider how 'good' a voice is. Its that overall sound for me. I prefer Lennon's later voice and Dylan's from the 70's and late 90's than his 60's vocals for example.

Some of there very best gigs are from 2001. I also wouldn't always label it as 'decline' unless you believe his absolute best vocals were in 94' and everything since has been worse, which i personally don't. Yeah I never understood how someone could think Liam sounded better on DM than on MG. His vocals were the absolute best on MG. He was amazing on BHN and BHN tour as well. He sounded still great on SOTSOG. He started to sound less good from 2002 on but mostly he had good nights and bad nights. His vocals at last bdi gigs were amazing. Like others have said, his 'best' vocals were arguably in the 96-97 period. But in a technical sense his voice was worse in these years than before, he was struggling to hit the higher notes and couldn't hold notes as well as he used to. The raspiness that made his vocals sound so good in the late 90s was due to the strain he'd put on his voice from his singing style.

Though I enjoy Three Ring Circus more than Standing On The Edge Of The Noise Liam sings SOTEOTN better I think, can't really understand him live on TRC with his voice rough sounding.

Anyone who thinks his voice has improved since 2008 are simply kidding themselves. He sounds nearly identical live as he did back then. The album recordings are a slight improvement but that happens when you start to actually care about what you put out even if the songs are not as good.

SOTEOTN fits Liam's voice nowadays, short lines that are easy to sing and belt out. I like the verses on TRC but the chorus is a bit much for him

2011: 2008: How are we kidding ourselves exactly? Liam sounds a hundred times better. Definitely. That performance of kill for a dream was actually pretty epic I was surprised when they didn't play it at Warrington.

I don't think his voice has "improved". That sort of stuff just does not happen. Not when you're 39.
He may sound better but like a lot of people have said, it's all about him being rested, and being a hit-and-miss vocalist at this point in his career.
He'll have a dreadful night and sound pretty damn good the next. That's Liam

2011: 2008: How are we kidding ourselves exactly? Liam sounds a hundred times better. All we are doing here is comparing a good performance from '11 to a bad one from '08.

Well what are you comparing? I'd say the Heaton Park performance is better, not light years better but better all the same. Considering the Heaton Park gig was nearly 4 years later i'd say thats a bonus.

He sounds great here. Much better than Fuji. Though I do miss Noels bit "Weeellll", I imagine it must feel crazy to be one of many many people yelling out "Weellll!!" for Liam all together.

Gotta remember that Morning Glory has some really high notes in it as well. Really difficult song to sing. He sounds great in the above link but I think the Warrington gig was the best he's sang it since about 2002. Let's be happy his voice is the best it's been for a long time! Rock n Roll Star from that Jisan Valley gig is almost faultless really.

He's no longer cutting words off, and I have no idea why he was doing so from like 2006 to 2009, either.....

The problem was from that 2006 - 2009 he was out of breath but has since embarked on cutting down the fags, exercise programs and running to increase his fitness which seems to have had a noticible positive effect on his singing.

Today showed me that he can hold the notes when he wants to
and that gig in gig out he will more likely than not be conservative and cut short lines to the annonyance of ourselves
but wonderwall at the olympics was very good
