little heads up, they are releasing a new (and maybe final) single. available to Pre-Order the 7" now & DL 2/7/12. features 'The Puritan' as 2nd track got a really good feeling about Under The Westway. Damon Albarn really shines with sad songs and this a 'tearjerker' by all accounts ;D

What about the new album? Albarn is saying that there wont be an album, so basically expect an album to be recorded sometime in the next few years

There was a rumour going round, that I read on BlurBalls, that Under The Westway is possibly the lead single from an album with the same name. Also, I heard that UTW is a slow, tearjerker (I expect like No Distance Left To Run), but The Puritan is an upbeat, jumpy tune (I expect like Girls And Boys)

That's why I just said it was a little rumour... Still a possibility.

Just when I lost faith in Damon Albarn and thought he'd be releasing obscure fake african music forever he masterminds this classic!!! Immense tune!
The Puritan isnt bad either..
EDIT: Puritan is abysmal and would be a shit Gorillaz b-side...

Wow, Under The Westway is amazing. Arguably their best song ever, so so achingly beautiful. I had very very high hopes for it when I listened to Graham and Damon performing it live, and now it's finally been released in it's studio form it doesn't disappoint. If this is Blur's last song, then all I can say is they have ended on a peak. Then again, it shows they've still got it, especially Damon (though I'm sure we all knew that) and that if they've still got it, why not make another album.
Very nostalgic tune aswell, the lyrics hark back to the Modern Life/Parklife era. For me, the best song I've heard all year. The Puritan ain't bad either, it's not great but they certainly show all other bands who want to synth up their sound how to make a tune in that style (Coldplay and The Killers for example).
P.S. Listening to Under The Westway again, literally got goosepimples listening to it.

Wow, I really hope they manage to release one more album if all the tunes are going to be this good! It'd be nice to have their last album be one with Graham writing and playing on all of the tunes.

A couple of years back, I had a bit of a rough time, and I'd managed to not break down throughout the whole time... Anyway, one of the days, I heard No Distance Left To Run, and I just went. Couldn't hold it anymore. Under The Westway seems like it could do exactly that again to any other human being on the planet. What an amazing, moving, and almost biblical song.

It's got the feel of The Universal with heartbreaking lyrics. TP didn't really impress me but Under The Westway is fantastic. I'm hoping for an album for the same reason as TheImportance. I'd be great if they could close it out with an album with the full line-up although Think Tank is a solid effort it just doesn't seem to do Graham justice by not having him on their last album.

Ironically the guitar line at the end of the last tune on Think Tank was grahams only contribution on the album, I know what you mean though. Ending as a threepiece wasnt part of the plan

Yeah, they definitely need one more album... Just to round off a brilliant career... I don't think many people would moan if they included Under The Westway, The Puritan and Fool's Day, either... I wouldn't, anyway.

After what happened yesterday, how happy and proud they seemed to be, I see a new album coming, not this year, but maybe in 2013... Anyway, I don't wanna be too excited in case they decide to break up
