If you look at The Stone Roses setlist, they really struggle to fill it out. Okay the first album is great and that's what they are riding on. But the 2nd album is shit. A fair few songs in their set are shit and when you hear Ian Brown live, it just makes me wonder why so many have got excited over this reunion. People (rightly or wrongly) bash Oasis material after the first 2 albums but if they'd have done what Oasis had done and stuck together for 7 or 8 albums, their stuff would be awfuly bad. Most of Ian Brown's album songs are just atrocious. Just makes me laugh when their mentioned in the same breathe as Oasis. I think the argument that, if they stuck together for seven or eight albums then they would release shit songs, is moot. The fact is they didn't. They released one amazing album, a bunch of amazing b-sides, and knew to call it a day when they lost it. "It's better to burn out than to fade away" and all that. And a 19 song setlist isn't anything to scoff at. They still haven't even played their best song.

I think you're being a bit liberal with the truth. The band fell a part. They didn't call it a day to preserve their legacy they got sick of the site of each other and member started quitting the band. I'm not trying to knock them but I'm not putting them on a pedestal they don't deserve to be on either. Had they called it a day after the first album instead of pissing about the way they did then I'd agree with you.

Granted, it wasn't the best time to break up, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that Brown and Mani could of continued without the other two. They broke up when there was still ample time to fully destroy their legacy. As bad as Second Coming was/is, the public obviously still has a lot of good will towards them because they did preserve the legacy that was left (just enough to be mythologized by the press).

Was at the Roses yesterday and thought Beady Eye were really good.
As the poster said - there was polite applause for their early songs but the place suddenly went MENTAL - like really crazy - when Rock & Roll Star started.
There was a bit more energy for them after that, especially Morning Glory into The Roller, and Sons.
Overall, really enjoyed them. Liam sounded and looked great.

How can you not see the clear parallels between your lazy dismissal of any post-'89 Roses and the ignorant public and media dismissal of post-'96 Oasis?

Other news - I was right on the barrier for the section behind the front pit - they were leading various VIPs to a special section.
Saw some of the Oasis family being led through - Zak Starkey, Paul Gallagher, and a well lubricated Andy Bell!

Tightrope and Tears have both been played, I think, just not all the time.

Second Coming is as good as any Oasis album post 2000, even if it's not full of instant classics like TSR. The difference between Ian Brown and Liam is that Liam's voice got a lot weaker in the last decade, while Ian always had problems singing in tune (which, I'd say, is way worse) even though his voice is still good.

The Stone Roses were right place right time back in 1989 and though their debut album still sounds amazing the reunion gigs are a joke. Saw them in Amsterdam and it was fucking shit. Oasis were miles better

I actually think Liam is singing better now than he has in a long while. I can't admit to have heard every bootleg, but it appears to me it is...
Last couple of shows > DGSS Tour >>>>>>>>> DOYS Tour

Anyone slagging the Roses off hasn't been to Heaton Park.

Beady Eye were excellent at Heaton Park. Liam sounded great and looked well up for it, as did the rest of the band. Gem launched his guitar into the air at the end of SOTS.
They were the perfect warm-up for what was a sensational Roses gig. The Oasis tracked worked really well in the set, Liam nailed them and it got the crowd ready for the main attraction.
You could tell the Roses had put a lot of time & effort into planning that show and it paid off, a great day was had by all. I really hope they stick around now and release some new stuff (providing it's good).
Really look forward to Beady #2 as well. Providing the songs are there, we could have a really great album and tour. They seemed to be settled as Beady Eye now, they know what they need to play live and they are writing songs that fit how they play and sing as a band.

Anyone slagging the Roses off hasn't been to Heaton Park. I went on the Friday and Ian Brown was appalling. The day drinking and the 'event' of the Roses reunion was great, John Squire was amazing, the actual gig, sound system and Ian Brown's vocal's were absolutely shit.

Well I personally couldn't hear the band through singing my head off like a fucking loon and I wouldn't want it any other way.
