After many years, I just picked up a CD copy of Sticky Fingers (I have it on vinyl but my LP and player are nowhere near me the last couple years). I was talkign to the clerk at the HMV about how fantastic this album is and we came to the consensus that although the Stones were always pitted as rivals to the Beatles, the Stones did their best work once the Beatles were starting to go their own way (from '68 to '73).
He recommended I listen to the album Some Girls (1978) and I am doing so now. I love Beast of Burden and Miss You (which bares a rather interesting similarity to Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" (same year I think). So far so good.
Oh and I love Exile on Main street. Took me a while to get into this album but it seems really like their BHN. It's just over the top and you can find all sort of things in it that coudl be changed, reduced, or made more commercial but I just love the whole damn album from Rocks Off to Soul Survivor.
Terrific singles band in the 1960s too.
Let's talk about the Rolling Stones!

One of my favorite bands by far. The 60's and the early 70's was the best time for them musically but as you said Some Girls is also a great album. Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, and Sticky Fingers are amazing albums, as well as Exile, which could be their best one. Surprisingly enough Steel Wheels has some great tunes as well like Mixed Emotions and Slipping Away. My Obsession off Between the Buttons is amazing as well. I love the Stones  |

Well, that was a very satisfying listen. I just finished listening to the Some Girls album here:
They have a bunch of other stones albums in full to listen to. I think I'll be making another trip to the record shop soon. I want to listen to Beggar's Banquet next.

Goats Head Soup is extremely under-rated, I think it was the last album of the Jimmy Miller era.

Has anyone seen the concert film Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones' ?
You rent rent it off itunes and probably also find it in your local record shop (I knwo my HMV has got it for $10) - what a terrific show! Its the band at their peak, playing tracks off Sticky Fingers, Exile, and Let It Bleed.
Worth checking out. There's another one for the Some Girls tour but I've not seen that one yet.

So im going to start getting some of the stones albums, only got 40 licks at the moment. was going to start with beggars banquet, let it bleed, sticky fingers and exile on main street. But could any of you guys help with what versions i should get? id like to have them all from the same remaster series but im not sure when they were all remastered, or if theyre even available on the same remaster seires?

Keith faced a lengthy prison sentence for heroin possession.
a blind Rolling Stone fan wrote the presiding judge in Keith's case, telling the judge how Keith looked after her, making sure she got to gigs ok and was safe.
the judge ended up having the Rolling Stones play a concert for the blind for Keith's sentence.
i'm also a big fan of quotes....one of my favorite quotes is by Keith:

The Stones, for the simple reason I like more of their songs than I like of Led Zeppelin. They'd always be a few steps ahead of Led Zep for me since I've seen them live anyway |
