They have had issues last year, which a supplier has commented on, hence the almost every day sales. Not a vintage year, although there was some good bits and pieces. Expecting a return to form. Which comments? Imho, the brand has constant issues as sales got longer and longer for quite some time now. I don't expect a return to their old form anytime soon. They've taken the mass market route and the only way back would be a complete reboot, which doesn't seem to happen judging by the mass of releases in the last weeks.

A small store called 157 went to the head office and commented on his FB page.
In regards to the constant sales he said it's because they got hurt by House of Fraser closing stores. They produced lots of product that didn't have the anticipated customers and had to turn that stock back into cash rather desperately. Comes with the territory of retail, but they will not bother as aggressive with sales going forwards.

I really wish you were right but I'm afraid it won't be possible for them to curtail sales. First, people got used to it and will wait for sales to kick in. NOTHING sells out before sale starts anymore. Which means people just don't buy the stuff before it's marked down. And even by then, the days, items sold out within the first hours of sale are long gone. Second, their quality is simply not on the same level anymore. Remember the early collections with egyptian cotton, sea island cotton and stuff like that? Those were high quality items. The stuff I bought from PG in the last years is simply nothing special anymore. They still have a few decent pieces, but all in all it's different brand nowadays.

Yeah the demise of the black label is a big loss. It's made more of the masses these days.
He did say though that for their 10 year anniversary they are reproducing some key lines from the debut range, although they won't be cheap!
Also there's a new factory which has improved the structure of shirt collars, and the material is better and non crease type (non crease doesn't actually exist to me). Oh and new paisley colours have been introduced as standard.
In regards to the sales, time will tell if bull or not. Like you say they may have set themselves up after this crazy year of constant sale after sale and customers may just wait rather than pay full price.

Even GL used to be made of high quality fabrics so it isn't just BL that is not what it used to be... And new paisley colours were basically introduced each season Not sure what to think of the other news - don't have any FW18/SS19 items to actually judge them. We'll see! Really looking forward to White Label and a possible 10 Year collection. Might be the last hope for the brand. Though I'm not THAT impressed by the White Label items Liam already wore - they didn't look that different to GL...

I’ve bought one jacket in the last year and nothing else, and that was never like me.
I’m pretty detached from them nowadays. They have went for the mainstream, far, far too big a range now with quantity or quality and I can’t ever see them recover to the standard of the first couple of years.
I miss the “Tribe”, the feeling of being part of the brand from the start... it’s a bit like some bands I suppose.
In regards to the sales problem I wish they would do what Fred Perry do, a summer sale and a winter sale, nothing else.

They already launched about 100 SS19 items without a proper campaign in sight. 7 of these new pieces are >£150. I'm just waiting for spring sale to kick in AW18 sale already lasts nearly 2 months. It's just sad to watch the brand dying.

Scale it back to two physical stores - London and Manchester and cut back on all the sales. That would create bug savings.

Plus: go back to the quality and design of the first collections. Liam was right: How involved are you with your fashion label, Pretty Green, these days? (pete2ndbest)I still do a little bit. I pop in there once a month just to make sure it’s all good. The stuff they do is more for the kids I think, it’s tight fitting, and that’s not for me. We’re trying to develop a white label at the moment, which is more my size, my style. The majority of it I leave to Pat Salter, who does all the designing. That fashion thing, it’s like a collection every fucking minute… I went to see one the other day and it’s for 2019. I’m like: “I haven’t seen the 2017 one yet.” But I get a proper buzz off it. While I wasn’t doing any music, it was important. Because it’s still creating. And they’re mint clothes, man. www.theguardian.com/music/2017/jun/04/liam-gallagher-interview-rock-n-roll-saved-my-life-oasis-beady-eyeUnfortunately, White Label still remains a myth...

Echoing these comments that I miss the old days when PG was fewer pieces, higher quality, easy to understand, worn by LG.

Well, for starters, Pretty Green should have Líam do the clothes modeling ads again, he's the face of the brand for christ sake...
God bless.

They've done an unbelievable job at building a brand but having a big high street presence without serious resources behind you doesn't seem clever at the moment. Much as that blog makes sense, I don't think this is as much about brand mistakes as about how difficult it is to establish and scale a retail business. But anyway, a retailer losing £1.5m on turnover of £40m isn't a business in crisis in this climate. Losing 50 staff (of its 300) would likely put the company into profit.

All those brands have become way too expensive. I used to buy a lot of Fred Perry but their prices are ridiculous, and i suppose PG are also ? gotta say i've never bought anything from this brand, want to the Carnaby store once and the quality was erm... cheap.
Overall, PG's problem is that the consumer are going either for more established brands that produce the same thing but with better quality or go and buy cheaper stuff from primark.
they're in the middle , and that's never good in the fashion world. you have to buy either cheap or too expensive.

This is going to be a trick for someone to buy it out without honouring debts. Mark my words.
