He took out Broken Arrow. Bad Noel
7/13 are Oasis songs.
Should have left off IGTBF in favor of Broken Arrow at the very least. I can understand not dropping the rest of the Oasis tunes as they are amazing.
Sucks that he sometimes allows his solo material to take the back seat to a certain extent.

Broken Arrow is brilliant. Definitely should've been played.

I don't think Broken Arrow is great live. It misses a lot without the congas. So no big loss from me. I love the studio version but i don't mind live version.

BA missing is a bad choice I agree, but no Record Machine is tragic!
As much as I love the Oasis songs, I think Noel is burying himself in former glories by playing such a high ratio of Oasis songs in the new sets. He did the same thing a lot in the last few Oasis tours,I think.

I think Beady Eye's decision not to play Oasis songs paid off to be honest, I entirely agree with the above comment. Doesn't mean I won't very glad to see some this year though, but they proved a point by not doing it the whole of last year

why is he playing soooo many oasis tunes?? he needs to get out of the past and grow some balls. he has a successful album he knows that so why not fuckin play the thing?? maybe beady eye's album wasn't a huge success but at least they went out every night, even at the festivals, and put on a great gig without having to rely on the oasis tunes. liam deserves respect for that

Probably because he hasn't been to NZ since the Be Here Now tour, so he chose to do more Oasis stuff.

Hope he changes it for other festivals... Should have definitely played Broken Arrow, Record Machine and Freaky Teeth... And The Good Rebel should always be ready to play, just in case it rains

They haven't quite nailed Broken Arrow yet. (they play it too fast and the drummers rythme is kinda awkward) so I can't blame them for dropping it. Leaving Record Machine out is a sin though, it's probably the best live track off the album and its definitely the most familiar sounding compared to Oasis so why he didn't play it is beyond me.

Exactly what Mr. Kite said. People here don't understand that people at festivals aren't like us hardcore fans. They want to hear what they know. An allocation of 7 Oasis tunes to 6 High Flying Birds tunes seems very fair and balanced to me Those 7 Oasis tunes took up 15 years of his life. The 6 High Flying Birds tunes have taken up 1 year. Seems cool to me.

I have no problem with the setliest other than RM being taken out. It his best live song off the album.
I agree with Bluejay and Kite, it's a festival. The reason Beady Eye didn't do well in the festival setting is because they didn't play Oasis songs. When people go to a festival to see a somewhat well known artist, they also want to hear some well known songs along with that. That's compromise you make in a festival setting. Noel is doing the right thing. Anyone who thinks that Beady Eye succeeded in the festival setting has blinders on.
Noel is going to play a lot of Oasis tunes because it is a festival. And as Bluejay said, when people go to a festival to see a Gallagher, the expect Oasis tunes. By some people's reaction it makes me wonder how many have actually gone to a festival. Example: if Bono became solo and went to Lollapalooza the majority of the people there would not be there to see his solo stuff. They'd be there to hear at least 5-6 U2 songs. It would be up to Bono to use his U2 songs as a vehicle toward promoting his new solo material.
The only thing with the setlist I would change is for him to include RM and re-arrange the order of the songs. I'd like to have the HFB stuff spread out more evenly through the set rather than them being bunched together. But I'm perfectly fine with the number of Oasis songs just because it is a festival and when you're an artist like Noel you have to make these kind of compromises while you're playing at one of these.

I saw R.E.M. at Oxegen back in '08, they didnt play a hit till the 9th song. Overall they only played like 6 hits out of a 20 song setlist and still rocked it. Everyone said they were the best act there. I dont think Noels new songs are just average album tracks, they're more than good enough to hold up on their own without help from Noel's past glories. Just think that if Noel wants to be a solo artist he should play more solo songs than oasis songs.

Sure play some Oasis hits. The only one I query leaving instead of a HFB song is IGTBF. It's not a hit. Not even a big fan favorite. LBL gets a bigger crowd reaction and it got left off.
No reason for RM or BA to take a backseat to that Oasis song. I doubt anyone walked away from that festival gig thanking their lucky stars that they got to hear IGTBF at least once.

I think we all know the significance of him opening with IGTBF. And it's his choice and I think that we're all going to have accept that for this tour, he'll be opening with it. I dont think that will be the case for his future years on tour because as the months pass the significance will be less and less. But for this tour he'll be opening with that song. And he may always close with DLBIA.
I get why he's playing so many Oasis songs and I have no problem with it. The only way that I would have a problem with it is if he continued to do the same thing even after his second album is released. Because he would have enough songs and he would familiar enough with any new audiences that he wouldn't need the familiarity of the Oasis songs as much. If not then I'd like to see the set list get bigger abd him keep the number of Oasis songs at 7. So basically by the time AA album and its singles have been released, he should have a 22-24 song setlist with 15-17 being solo and 7 being Oasis. But as of the moment, I have full trust in Noel. And in the end it's his career anyways.

No Record Machine just doesn't make any sense to me. Drop It's Good... and bring in Record Machine. I don't see the problem with him playing a lot of Oasis tunes, it's impossible to go wrong when you combine a festival audience and Don't Look Back In Anger. Even their shit Glasto 2004 performance was saved by the festival's love.

Everyone here is wrong. It's Good To Be Free, is a brilliant song. It's weird, it's spooky, it's a song that symbolizes reluctant optimism in the face of treachery. The original was recorded in amisdt huge amounts of tension between Noel and Liam, contrasting the casual and breezy themes of the song. For Noel to be playing it now as the lead song, even at festivals, is as Spaneli said a very important thing that symbolises a lot. He's singing about being free from the treachery of Liam, even though the song will never escape its murky roots, and of the time from which it was recorded.
On top of that, it has a really cool melody. Always been one of my favourites.

Though I'm not sure there's much significance in him using it as an opener this tour, as of course he's been doing that since 2006.

Headliners can do that because a lot of people go to festivals specifically for headliners.
