Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I thought it was pretty funny. I was just listening to a jazz compilation album and the song Hi-Heel Sneakers was on by The Blue Mitchell Quintet. Well, listen for yourselves Beatles and Stones: Hi-Heel Sneakers:

The one line of melody is the same as the "It beats me momma"...but that's about it. Is there something else I am missing?
I'll be honest...I haven't listened to B&S that much.

It's a really famous but standard 12-bar blues song that came out in the mid 60's. A bunch of people have covered it. Elivs, Led Zeppelin and Macca just to name a few. Hell, It was even on the soundtrack to Quadrophenia. I think the one goodrebel linked to above is good, but does not begin to cover the great songs that Blue Mitchell put out in the late 50's, 60's and early 70's. Although I suspect no one here does, if someone listens to Jazz (in spite of Noel's hate for it ) and haven't heard much of Mitchell's music yet, you're in for a treat. Or: It's fuckin' MEGA to put it in oasis terms

Yeah I get what you are saying. That is the vibe Beady Eye are going for though! 50's/60's "Style" Rock N' Roll. Based on that it's kinda hard not to sound like something else from that era!
There is a live cover version of High Heeled Sneakers with Paul Weller on Vox & Noel on guitar around somewhere btw. Top tune.

Standard blues melodies. I haven't even listened to a lot of blues and I know that.

Well surely you didn't expect a song called Beatles and Stones to sound like the Beatles or Stones doing rhythm & blues, did you ? It sounds a lot like a lot of songs from that era. The intro reminds me of My Generation, the ending with the bass sliding down IS just 19th Nervous Breakdown by the Stones. It's a crappy song anyway...
