The King's Speech star and Oscar-nominated actress will be made a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) next year, along with Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and a select list of other British entertainers and notables.
Past honorees from Hollywood include Helen Mirren (DBE - Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire), Michael Caine (CBE), Judi Dench (DBE) and Anthony Hopkins (CBE), among others from various genres of entertainment." |

I know that Noel has always taken part in teenage cancer trust but so has Liam with beady eye. He's also a big supporter of Street Child Africa. Also, Liam organised a gig to raise money for the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami appeal, and he released Across The Universe with beady eye to raise more money. He has achieved a lot more outside the music industry than Noel ever has. |

Hey, I like them both the same...
I don't really know what are the requirements to be knighted. I thought it was a person's great contribution to arts or whatever they do that made them eligible to be knighted. And Noel contributed more in that sense, in my fucking opinion.
I think you all starve for an internet fight about these kind of stuff that I really don't care about

I don't really know what are the requirements to be knighted. I thought it was a person's great contribution to arts or whatever they do that made them eligible to be knighted. And Noel contributed more in that sense, in my fucking opinion. Receiving a CBE, OBE or MBE isn't being knighted. A knighthood beats all of these and gives you the title of 'Sir,' as in Sir Paul McCartney. Just thought I'd clear that up for all our American friends. |

Noel already rejected the idea of a knighthood when he was on Parkinson in 2006 (great interview, by the way). And I can't see Liam accepting anything from the Royal Family, either.
