Beady Eye desperately need to write a fresh, catchy single. It would be nice to see a little more legs out of their releases. I would really like them to work with Danger Mouse on their next record. He's made the Black Keys sound amazing over the last few releases and I think it would really enhance what Beady Eye bring to the table. The guy can flat out produce and is young where as Lillywhite is from an older producing generation. Not to say he did a bad job, I think he did a solid effort but this time I want it to be shaken up a little more. Also, playing Noel songs in the future is a very very bad idea for Beady Eye. He made the Keys sounds more commercialized (excluding his original work on Attack and Release), which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for Beady Eye.

to the question itself, which nobody seems to have answered, Yes, they would sound great. Noel isn't necessary for the sound, just the stage.
Better than anything we've heard in a while

I can only hear them getting away with Songbird, TMOS, etc. Anything by Noel would just be...weird... However, they should break out Strange Thing and go all Hendrix on its ass

Noel said in a Japanese magazine interview that Beady Eye will certainly play Oasis songs on their next tour, but if that happens they will not play RS or C&A or Live Forever because they didn't wrote those songs.
a bit surprised he said such a thing. I thought he wouldn't care.

I thought he wouldn't care. It's weird since in several itw, he said stuff like "champagne supernova is a Liam song, I won't play it but Liam will probably do it on his next tour". I hope he won't forbid Liam to play at leats one of his songs.

Brilliant in my opinion I can't wait what with Liam sounding as good as he did about 10 years ago, if they play supersonic or something like that I will definitely go to a gig or two off the next tour

Hope they don't start fighting over this now..

But it's not for Noel to say what Liam will play or not. He can play any song he wants as long as it was release with his voice, it seems normal.

I think Beady Eye deserve some credit for not playing Oasis songs in their first year of touring. Ultimately it probably cost them an arena tour. Noel has every right to play those songs he has written over the years, but would he have sold out an arena tour if he didn't play the Oasis songs? The majority of the 15000 that were at the Sheffield gig that I was at weren't there to see him play Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks. They were there for Don't Look Back In Anger. His new songs are great, the first first six songs on the album are amazing, but why does he open with two Oasis songs and do an encore full of them?
If Beady Eye announced a set list full of Oasis songs, would they be able to sell very well on an arena tour?

The fact that Noel's album has sold close to 600K so far and has been in the top 20 for 19 weeks and BDI sold only 165K and only spent 19 weeks total in the top 100 also has something to do with the disparity in gig size. From the way Noel has talked the original plan wasn't to do arenas. That plan seemed to have come about when they realized that his album was going to be a bigger deal than they thought. Noel was quoted as saying he expected to sell a comparable amount to BDI in the weeks before the album. He outsold their YTD sales in 2 weeks. That had to have changed the touring strategy after that. If Noel had played the same set but his album had sold the same as BDI I think he wouldn't have been able to sell out an arena tour. If BDI had done the same sales but had done Oasis tunes (even famous ones) I also doubt they would have sold out an arena tour. I agree about the setlist, though. I wish Noel would open with EOTR...or at least have it right after IGTBF it he is obsessed with the lyrical appropriateness of singing that tune first. And having the encore only Oasis seems wrong as well.

If wants to do it or play them in any order, then I don't care.

And having the encore only Oasis seems wrong as well. If Noel was actually a new artist he would sell some arena because his album have sold very well. But the arenas wouldn't be sold out in two minutes if he wasn't playing 9 oasis tunes. When BDI will play Oasis songs as well, you'll see a difference in their tour plan, not a huge difference, but it counts. If BDI plays Wonderwall or Supersonic, more people will show up at their gigs to hear those songs properly again by their singer. That's just the way it is, DLBIA is more important to any person at gig than IIAG. I can't wait for Liam to play Oasis song again. I'm sure he has missed it, they will sound fantastic playing them, so much better than HFB.

If Noel had done nothing but his new tunes he would not have sold the same tickets. Simple as that, was well put across in the media he would be doing Oasis tunes before the tour.

If Noel had done nothing but his new tunes he would not have sold the same tickets. Simple as that, was well put across in the media he would be doing Oasis tunes before the tour. Yet that hasn't translated to him selling out arenas in places that aren't in the UK (the region where his solo album has been most successful). If Oasis songs counted as much as people are saying here, then why is he not playing arenas in France? Germany? Other countries. He did promo in more places than the Uk. It was printed in news and music outlets around the world that he'd be playing Oasis songs, yet he's not playing arenas around the world. Why not? If Oasis songs automatically translate to larger venues or greatly increase your chances to play in larger venues, then why isn't he playing larger venues around the world. I believe the Oasis songs are part of it. I think it would be highly naive to think that they aren't But to assume that they might be 100% or near 100% (like 80%) of the reason, which is basically whay you're saying when you say that he would not have a very good chance to fill arenas in the region where his solo album has been most successful if he weren't playing Oasis songs, I think is being overly simplistic. And I think that you're better than that than to take the bait and be that simplistic.

The oasis songs have everything to do with it. If beady eye came out and dropped in all their interviews the fact that they'll be playing all the oasis hits like noel did then its a fact they would've sold a lot more tickets.
And the reason noel isnt doing arenas all over is because oasis was never as big in those countries as they were in the UK. Oasis sold out wembley 3 nights in a row in 2009, I doubt they wouldve ever sold out to that scale in any other country

Fuck it, I sure as fuck hope they DON'T play any Oasis songs. BE don't fucking need that little security blanket to fill their gigs up, like other ppl. Seeing many fans that were soooo aghast at the thought of BE playing them during their first tour, but now that it looks like they will play some next time around many are singing a different fucking tune. If that little dig Noel shot about "they won't be playing such and such bc they didn't write them" is true that's soo fucked. Eventually Noel's going to WANT (not need) the money, and he knows Oasis is his MAJOR cashcow, but he can't pull off an oasis reunion without the man himself, Liam G. It's like the Roses doing a reunion tour without Brownie. Stand your ground Liam don't sing em, you don't need them.

Did Liam's singing on those songs mean nothing to you when you first heard them?. Liam's singing AS WELL AS Noels song writing made those songs what they are. Noel singing supersonic with the band is just the same as Liam and the band singing without Noel. Anyone who can't see that obviously has their head too far up Noels arse. There wouldn't be the same reaction if Noel all of a sudden started to sing a LAG song and that's what pisses me off the most. Rant over

Mostly, "why the hell is he singing those songs when he as way better songs that he himself wrote?" The thing is that those that think that BDI shouldn't be playing songs that Noel wrote aren't taking their cues from Noel. Noel has said Liam is welcome to them. They are more likely taking cues from Liam and Andy. They were the ones that said they wouldn't play Noel's songs with BDI originally. Liam was the one that said something to the effect, "We're not going to do any Oasis songs this tour, or next tour, maybe on the third album. Unless it all goes wrong." And that when they started they weren't going to be playing Noel's songs only ones that they wrote. And Andy said that they weren't going to do them when they didn't need them anymore. The fact that any people here are talking how the Oasis tunes would give their shows a boost in popularity mean, IMO, that they haven't quite reached that aspiration.
