Completely agree. Liam is entitled to perform any Oasis tracks that he sung on just as much as Noel is, despite having not written them. He made them what they were and sold them to the world with his pipes.
Whether he is coming to this consensus merely because the public have lost interest in Beady Eye's catalogue, well that's a different issue altogether.

I don't think they should play Oasis songs that Noel has written. But I would welcome songs that LAG wrote in Oasis. Like Turn Up The Sun, Songbird and To Be Where There's Life, and so on.

Noel has said he doesnt mind them playing his songs, so thats fair enough.
but Liam will have to stop slagging Noel off or else people will start getting shitty about ''oh he plays Noels songs then slags him off'' etc.

BDI already played Oasis songs, in 2001... No. Chris wasn't there and he is an official, and might I add awesome, member. And Andy was still playing a different instrument

The writing credit that says "Noel Gallagher" after those tracks disagrees Liam's vocal performances are what made many of those songs what they are. Plus, there are more than a few Noel Gallagher songs from the first few records/singles that could add a few more names to the credits. Hell, Liam is the one that wrote the "So Sally can wait..." bit for Don't Look Back In Anger!

Of course he wrote them. Does it mean a song like Rock n roll star would be the same without Liam? of course not, and people are moron if they think yes. Liam made those songs what they are, he compares himself to Elvis. He's right. Elvis was allowed to sing songs he didn't write wasn't he? As for the people who think it would be wrong seeing 4 ex oasis members playing Oasis songs. They should explain to me how it's right to see a big fat very bad drummer or an old guitarist with a wig playing Don't look back in Anger.

Elvis preformed and released those songs under his only name as his own act. Liam was the lead singer in an ensemble that released those tunes which he has subsequently disbanded to form a different act. Nothing will make those tunes his as much those tunes are Noels. They are essentially Noel Gallagher tunes, as made famous by Oasis. The recordings are Oasis' and through that Liam has a claim on having a right to interpret them, but the tunes are Noels. If someone wanted to cover a reimagining of Live Forever and release it they'd have to ask Noel...Liam wouldn't have a say. He is connected to that song...but he has no ownership. Just like Elvis couldn't have stopped a million weird and wacky version of Blue Suede Shoes. The fact that Elvis recorded it doesn't make that song any less Carl Perkin's. But that recording did belong to Elvis personally as an artist...not so with Liam Not saying he shouldn't do it. But it is hardly the same situation as Elvis or Sinatra or all those other great interpreters.

In the collective unconscious, thoses songs are Oasis songs, not Noel's, Oasis's. Therefore as much Liam's as Noel's. Noel wrote them and own their rights fine, I'm not talking about that here. Liam made those songs what they are, they're famous with his voice, just as Elvis' songs are famous with his voice even if he didn't wrote them. That's all he said here, he never spoke about legal rights. You're the one talking about it. All I'm saying is if people really think Liam has no right playing Oasis songs again, no matter wich band he's in, they really have little respect for the lead singer of the band they were supposed to love.

Might as well show up at Noel's doorstep and beg to reform. Yeah playing a few Oasis songs that Liam spent 15 years singing and the other two 10 years playing amounts to begging Noel for a reformation.

To be honest, I would pay a lot of money to see Liam make a dig at Noel and then hear the opening riff to Supersonic. The irony would be great

If you want to add Liam's name to Don't Look Back In Anger for that, how about we throw in Lennon/McCartney to a few Oasis tunes as well? Now you're just being silly! In all seriousness, between the contributions of The Real People, Liam, Mark Coyle and Paul Stacey, I don't think you can say that Noel is the sole owner of all of those songs, regardless of the name on the publishing. There is plenty of proof to state otherwise and to say that Liam has no ownership of those songs is pretty questionable. Perhaps a more apt comparison would be the Beach Boys. Brian Wilson wrote the majority of the music, which particularly with his early stuff was severely indebted to other people's music to the point of lawsuits, not unlike Noel. In any case, the various splinter groups go off and perform the songs and in the meantime sue each other over the use of the name the Beach Boys. Not an issue yet here but I could see a major problem if Liam tries to tour WTSMG under the name Oasis without Noel. A lot of people don't like Mike Love singing those songs while using the Beach Boys name. I would guess that has more to do with Mike coming across as a jerk in the media and less with the fact that he was the lead singer and occasional lyricist on a number of the songs in question. If Carl Wilson (also the occasional songwriter/producer/lead singer) was still alive and doing the same thing I don't think people would have the same problem.

The irony would be great Please don't come, go and enjoy the boring accoustic version for the rest of your life. Not an issue yet here but I could see a major problem if Liam tries to tour WTSMG under the name Oasis without Noel. I think Noel already said he wouldn't care. He'll surely ask for royalties anyway so, lazy as he is, if he hadn't to perform this tour and get the money anyway, it would be fine for him. But I can't see Liam be that stupid and doing it without him.

No way the 2015 MG tour happens without Noel being in charge, and that doesn't seem too likely, so...
Besides, Liam isn't really bothered, he's just out Noel-ing Noel by saying he's up for it if the fans want it. Makes Noel the bad guy for saying no, y'see.
