www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/lifestyle/entertainment/duke-s-diary/tunes_can_t_match_star_line_up_1_3968131Published on Monday 14 November 2011 12:21 Beady Eye - Empress Ballroom, Blackpool ''THE anguished look on the face of the tout outside said it all. “Got 30 tickets here and I can’t give ‘em away,” he complained. “What you’ve got in there is Oasis without Noel, and that’s the problem mate – it’s the wrong Gallagher brother.” The recent clamour for tickets for Noel’s solo tour is in contrast to the, as yet, lukewarm, reception to Beady Eye, Gallagher Jnr’s post-Oasis project. As Terry the Tout so rightly said this is Oasis without Noel given the band is made up of the Britpop superstars’ last line-up so it should be able to cut it. And don’t get me wrong they have the odd cracking tune, like gig opener Four Letter Word, the Lennon-esque The Roller and the infectious stomper Bring The Light. It’s just they don’t have enough of them. This outing was too stop-start, lacking in punch and a melodic edge. Oh how the set needed a Bring It On Down, a Columbia as opposed to the meandering fillers we were dealt. When push comes to shove I’ve always been in the Liam camp and believe Beady Eye could be a relevant band. But when the backing track you put on before you walk on stage – The Stones Roses’ I Am The Resurrection – gets the biggest cheer of the night, you know something is wrong. In truth Liam doesn’t necessarily need Noel, despite what some might say, but what his band needs right now is some better tunes.'' I honestly don't think that Mr Duke was at the gig! See bold above. Rubbish journalism at best!

Meh, to each their own. I'm sure the people at the gig had a great time.

Think it's a fair enough review myself. They've got a few good tunes (more than three) but could do with a few more, especially if they're not playing Oasis songs.
Even Noel realised he'd need to fill in his set with some Oasis stuff, Liam, to his credit I guess, took the moral high ground by saying Beady Eye wouldn't but it means the gigs go a bit flat in places - the one I went to did anyway.

To be honest, this is pretty much the truth and he does sum it up well. The loss of Noel is no excuse for Beady Eye's lack of relevance; they need to write stronger songs and they need to do it now...time is running out Liam

The writer isn't your usual Oasis-hating douche who would give any Gallagher album 2/5, he has some points there.

Liking a Beady Eye gig exclusively relies on whether you like the album as its all they they've got to play.

This review makes only opinions about Beady Eye's songs. Lets face it he could easily not have been there and sat at home writing this.
I was there and it was electric. The energy from the band and crowd was great and you could see how much LG and Gem loved it. It bodes well for the next tour because with another solid album and the inclusion of Oasis tunes, it will be fucking brilliant.

Didn't I read somewhere that Liam is bored of it himself? I read that he changed the lyrics of Two of a Kind to "I'm sick of this song and fucking tour"? This mini UK Tour at the end of their world tour was a mistake. They just should have taken a break and gone into the studio in January.
Also, the part in bold in the opening post was sadly true when I saw them.

I still dont think OAsis songs should be included, cept for maybe Hung In a Bad Blace or perhaps I'm Outta Time. If they were to play OAsis songs, they should keep it at a max of 3.

Or they should play exactly what they want to play like Noel is doing and don't care about what people think since everyone in the audience is gonna get crazy by the first "sunshiiiine" Liam would shout.
