Hippymafia are an odd one...
Essentially quite a good indie sounding band (the guitarist who looks a bit like Lennon n does a fair proportion of the singing is excellent) but with an American rapping over the top of it...kinda reminded me of the Beastie boys in parts.
I quite liked them, quite a strange combo really!

went last night - loved it. It definitely wasn't full, but I saw Oasis 5 times, and Liam's voice was the best I've ever heard it. I just hope the band enjoyed it and didnt think the Swindon crowd was too shit.

I went, took a mate who was a regular Oasis gig goer but hadn't seen BDI. He said it was the best he has heard Liam in years, they have added a bit of reverb to Liam's voice on 1 or 2 of the songs (TMS, WW) which along with the 3 new b sides made it a different gig to the Troxy one I was at earlier in the year. As he said, if Noel had written The Roller, Four Letter Word and Wigwam and they were released as singles off an Oasis album they would be massive hits. Interestingly for me was seeing loads and I mean loads on teenagers, kids who couldn't have been born or young babies when Oasis were at their peak. They must have been there because they are BDI fans not because they are a Noel less Oasis. It was the happiest and most relaxed I've seen Liam, he was chatty (for him anyway) with the crowd, laughing with the rest of the band and he played a 3/4 full Swindon Oasis as if it was a packed MSG.
BDI are a proper live band

Great gig last night, Liam was on top form. bad neck today though as i got twatted in the back of the head by a crowd surfer. seeing Liam sing the "look to the sun" line with the mic in his hand looked weird like one of many photos i took last night

seeing Liam sing the "look to the sun" line with the mic in his hand looked weird like I want to see that.. hahah. any video? Believe it or not, I filmed a bit of Wigwam and caught the moment. It was really weird to see him holding the Mic for a change. I'll stick it on Youtube if people are interested. It was also cool to see Gem center stage for a bit while they sorted out the microphones. I thought he was going to sing us a tune for a minute! Anyway, had an awesome night, and I agree with others that Liam sounded fantastic. Kill For A Dream was a highlight, love that tune, it's a real arms round yer mates song. Though the crowd were so-so. It's my third gig at the Oasis and the crowd is never that great to be honest. I was dancing like a bell end to I Am The Resurrection and singing every tune loudly, and when I looked around me people were just a bit flat. It was a lot better closer to the front though. Liam smashed his Mic on the floor at the end and walked up to the crowd so we all rushed forward, which is the same point I got crunched on the head by a crowd surfer. Anyway, great to see Liam in the little Oasis, it was rocking, and I can say my first Beady Gig was a great success.
