Spot on. I mean, I think Noel is more popular than Liam anyway, but the Liam Gallagher name would have added a fair few. You can ask the inverted question, namely would Noel have sold as many if it was just 'High Flying Birds'? Anyone who answers yes is deluded

It's not about sales. If you are a band, the name of one person shouldn't be in the band name. That's only logical.

Beady eye had exposure, Noel has exposure. We don't talk about the press reader or the music fan, he knows Beady eye is Liam. But the common people who don't care that much about music and buy a cd once a year, well he recognizes Noel Gallagher, but doesn't know Liam's in beady eye. But that's always the case after Band split up. Morrissey had more cover than Jonnhy marr in Electronic. Ian Brown than John Squire in The Seahorses.
The guy who goes solo has little more fame due to his name, but I don't think that changes record sale that much nowadays because nobody buy music anyway so...

If people would buy an album based on Liams name instead of the music, i'd prefer not to attract tthose types.

I think beady eye is the perfect place for liam to be. He's not a good enough songwriter to make a solo album. Yes, he wrote perhaps an album worth of great tunes, but that was over 10 years. It seems to me that even beady eye combined didn't have enough songs for a great album, so liam won't alone. On top of that, i believe that without the band, especially gem, we would see really below par liam stuff because he wouldn't have anyone to say no, keep him on track and to compete against.
