there was this wall outside Noel's house in burnage that he used to go sit on to think thru his problems and take a time out on...he used to sit on this wall to wonder about his mudane existence and think about a better life he called it his 'wonderwall' and that is in no way made up

Maybe Noel thought it was a handy way to fit in one of his many Beatles references. The album "Wonderwall Music" by George Harrison

i always thought it was a 2-fold beatles reference, one was the obvious reference to harrison's 'wonderwall music' album, and the other was an interview with lennon where he said yoko was 'wonderful', but it came out sounding like 'wonderwall'; i always doubted that second one, but it seemed to fit well

Theres heaps of myths don't know which ones true probly none
1. Noel got it from the movie Wonderwall and as someone has said George Harrison did the music
2.Noel had a wall in his old house where he and liam used to write down things. They called it there wonderwall. Sounds stupid but in an interview with their Dad he showed a reporter the wall.Bullshit I say
3.Then the one already mentioned about sitting on a wall in burnage hadnt heard that one before just then

the melody is from an old bread commercial from the 80s. think it was hordis bread. so from watchin that he got the tune. the wonderwall he probably got from being a geek and finding wonderwall music when he was 20 odd years old

I don't recall anything on the Simpsons that would have anything to do with it.

(that's why he wldn;t play it for awhile right ? cuz she felt the song was "Her's" bec. of the situation/inspiration ?) OK I am tired and maybe not even on the right topic, Nite Be well, Tamara

OK I am tired and maybe not even on the right topic, Nite Be well, Tamara That was what came out back when the song was released and became massive and yes the band did stop playing it just after they split, like at Barrowlands 2001, but on the radio doc called "What's The Story?" Noel said that is wasn't really about Meg but he was asked if it was at a press conference and felt he had to say yes. On the radio doc he said "How do you tell your missus the song isn't actually about her when she has been told it was?" But that could just be sour grapes i suppose? Later in the radio doc Noel Wonderwall was actually about being a child and having an imaginary friend.

This is what this weeks nuts says about it:
Wonderwall is named after an avant garde cult film from the 60's financed by the beatles' apple records label and featuring the music of George Harrison

Tezza and Jobero, thanks for reporting on what ya heard. Stateside here we are starving for Oasis info ! I read 2 books, any you rec'd ? one more than the other. Anyway, it is fine if Noel (and Liam) keep that "air of mystery" going, we are never quite sure about them are we ? Ya don't know what to expect. Besides their FANTASTIC TUNES, STYLE and ATTITUDE and what they stand for, that "air of mystery" is part of the appeal to me ! I got a HUGE EVIL GRIN on my face when I picked up the June MOJO last nite "The Kings' of British Rock reborn ! " Yes ! Tamara
