Never seen a highly anticipated album sell for that price on release day. 7digital sometimes do them for a fiver but £3.99 is mental. If I downloaded I'd be all over it.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way was 99c on Amazon MP3 in the US a few days. A huge amount of sales came from this and it easily reached #1 there. Great deterrent from illegal downloads, and I might add this to my physical copy for help NG.

I think Amazon did Gaga's last album for a pound as a publicity stunt. I think those cheap release day deals are getting more common now. But wow, great deal!

It's gone straight to 1# in Amazon's overall mp3 albums!

So for my 7.99, I can now get the album AND a big mac meal. Result.

Only purchases over a certain price count for the chart. Hopefully £3.99 is above that price.

"they're desperate"? Seriously? It's already been mentioned that they do it with an album every week as a promotion for the site. Correct me if I am wrong someone...but for promos like these it's the retailer taking it on the chin isn't it? Doesn't the label/artist take it off the top? It's like a door sale. A deal to bring people in by offering something that people want at a cheaper price in the hope that they'll buy something else since they are there?

This is an amazon loss leader, nothing to do with the label. Loss leaders are the most common form of advertising for online brands. Amazon are giving the same amount to Noel (Sour Mash) as iTunes are giving, even though it's half the price to the consumer.

It's genius! I know two people at my work that are kind of into Oasis (you know the sort love Wonderwall but have no clue about falling down!) that have picked it up for £4 today. That's the amount we used to pay for singles back in the day

Still is how much you pay for a single including postage if you order from Noel or Beady Eye's site!

FFS do you really have to be so butthurt about everything? lol look, i complimented the move(by whoever it was that made it... the label or amazon or whomever). I want the album to get to #1. I mean Noel's been saying for years that records are too expensive and that's what drives people to download shit illegally. We're all on the same team when it comes to that sweetheart.

But not before you get insulting about the label being desperate. Like they are scrambling for sales?
Get a life.
Everyone sees it. See the other two comments to you.
It's not a label decision. So your backhanded compliment was lameness well.

lgfaver you always start the verbal abuse and then accuse people of starting it when they respond. The evidence is always there for people to see. Quit digging a hole for yourself.

Quit digging a hole for yourself. first of all mind your own business. Seeing as that is an impossible concept for you, i'll have you know i wasn't the one who started the verbal abuse. READ..... go ahead, read through this whole thread an point me exactly where it is that i started the verbal abuse. you just can't remain objective here, can you?

READ..... go ahead, read through this whole thread an point me exactly where it is that i started the verbal abuse. you just can't remain objective here, can you? Ok so I'll read the whole thread again.... Oh wait what's this? First post to contain signs of abuse!!! Yes, sweetheart is alse verbal abuse in that case since it was meant to be a condescending remark. It was then also finished by you going way too far. (This post has since been removed and sent to the kiddie's corner in the play pen, by the way) here we go with the verbal abuse again.... 'get a life' ?? lol --this is when i respond-- look fat bitch, i'm not the one with 5 thousand posts in less than 18 months, you fucking piece of garbage waste of life pussy ass cow looking cvnt. lol see? now i feel better and YOU have received a bit of a reality check about yourself. ;D later.... CVNT ! The only thing said to you that could even be considered "verbal abuse" was gdforever telling you to "get a life", which was only a response to you being nasty/condescending to her in the first place. Maybe you should just post in the kiddies' corner thread from now on since half your posts end up there anyway. Cheers, deasy55
